This is what sticks out to me when rewatching Gray over the past 4 games:

He runs LOW to the ground.

Real low.

Barry Sanders low.

Now, I'm not making any Sanders comparisons here - - no way. Different styles and no one could redirect on a dime like Barry Sanders. They are completely different backs.

But one thing that jumps out when watching Gray is that he runs like a vacuum cleaner. And that low center of gravity was a distinct Barry Sanders trait.

I wonder if he ever purposely studied Sanders or even met him.

since we are induldging in fantasy , I saw a little bit of Maurice Jones Drew.

Once again, as stated clearly in my post, I am not making any comparisons with Barry Sanders other than how low to the ground he runs.

The last Patriot I saw run that low to the ground was Mack Herron.

that's funny because I also saw a little Minnie Mack but didn't want t date myself

Because he can go downhill in a hurry?

I imagine it's fairly easy to run low to the ground when you're 5'8.

Vereen doesn't run low to the ground. Neither did Kevin Faulk.

But Woodhead did.

I think it has more to do with one's center of gravity and posture while running.

Not an expert on it, but it struck me while watching him.

Sounds suspiciously like a midget talking about midgets @shmessy. :p

All right everybody must post their personal height and weight before comments regarding low center of gravity . Just so we understand any biased opinions

I think thats accurate. Obviously the taller you are (see Eric ****erson) the harder it is to run behind your pads. More back to bend.

How could Herron run any other way, he was 5'5"?

5'11" 215 (was 230 two months ago before starting my kale/broccoli/carrot/blueberry/banana/vanilla protein shake smoothies in my new VitaMix).

Goal: 190.

Very high center of gravity, easy to chop down (figuratively and literally!). So I'm jealous of Mr. Gray's balance.

:D

I saw a slightly shorter, but just as punishing, version of Sam Bam Cunningham!

He should change his number to 39 and start diving over the piles for TDs!

Jonas could do a lot worse than emulate #39. Sam's not running low here, but he's giving a clinic on how to treat a Jet. :D

Everyone from Detroit runs low, not just football players. It helps them avoid flying/falling objects and stray bullets.

5'9", 168. Lost a few lbs lately because I decided to concentrate on drinking rather than eating. Fairly low center of gravity. Most of my weight is in my legs and brain.

Are you drinking enough to forget you didn't eat? Solid plan.
