Look, you clearly have some sort of axe to grind. So forgive me if I ignore you completely. I'm done with your trolling caps posts. Take your anger to anger management class.

Clearly you don't know what you are talking about. I have no axe to grind. I was pointing out the ridiculousness of your post. There was nothing trolling about my post and you sure as hell didn't make me angry. You aren't man enough to do that.

Certainly according to the link you posted. It explicitly states that IR is only for injured players, though it wasn't a link to the code so there is no way to point at a line and say, "Right there! Rule 14.B section 3(a)!"
Yea but my point is that I believe that teams still manipulate the IR designation.

Thats fine but I think teams still do it.

Perhaps, but it is rare. Usually it is something like what NE did with Demps. The injury was legitimate, though probably only a 3-4 week deal with a more necessary player.

I hope he keeps the #60 he wore today just because seeing numbers outside of the norm for a certain position is just a bit quirky.
Unfortunately, he can't keep #60 unless he gets a special waiver from the league. He has to use numbers that are designated for RBs which are 20-49. It's very rare that players are allowed to wear a number that is outside the normal designation.

Yeah, a few years ago Isaiah Stanback was signed as a QB after playing WR for the Cowboys and ended up playing some snaps at WR wearing #1 for the Patriots...by the next week he'd changed it to a valid WR number, that's where the original thought came from. There's plenty of numbers free for Blount too so by tomorrow I expect he has a "proper" number.

Wouldn't the biggest problem of him wearing #60 be that he would have to report as an eligible receiver whenever he entered the game due to wearing what is a linemans number?

Well you sounded like your point was that it wasn't a violation.
I'm not sure how you would know whether teams do it or not, and I don't see a whole lot of advantage to it.

Probably James White and Jordan Devey to PS.

I like this a lot. Blount and Gray are both good at hitting the assigned gap, and terrific when they get to the second level. 38 carries was too much last week for Gray. He won't last.

If they give Blount 10-12 carries and Gray 10-12, and mix in the occasional Edelmen/Amendola sweep and Vereen, the Pats have a nice mix of 30 or so carries to keep things balanced, and opposing front sevens honest.

I hope Blount plays on Sunday and the Patriots target Ndamunkong Suh for repeated rushing plays by Gray and Blount. Nothing wears out a big pass rusher like him quite like 230 pounds of enthusiastic running back in his grill all afternoon.
I think you are writing off James White really early here, I doubt the team gives up on him as quickly as you do. You are right n the other part it will take a lot of strategy though to try and get the running game going against the Lions.

What you think and what you can prove are entirely different things. Clearly no one is going to change your mind. And just a point of information. It's been mentioned more than a few times that young players who miss their first year due to IR tend to not develop. This is because, being on the IR, you are limited in what you can do. Article 17.16 (B) specifically states what those players can do. Unless you have specific examples, you seem to be blowing smoke,.

Well we have no clue where he is in his recovery. He could have been ready to go weeks ago and had to wait to practice. The fact that they cut Walker to add a RB tells me Siliga should be back soon.
FWIW, Siliga wasn't at practice today.

Well you sounded like your point was that it wasn't a violation.

Oh I do think its a violation (I stated that before DaBruinz). I just think it's an unwritten understanding that the team has with players. In the end, as long as the player is being paid, their contract is not altered and their league year is accrued, I think some players would be ok with going along with the team's ask for them to go on IR- especially for guys like James White who aren't playing anyway.

I'm not sure how you would know whether teams do it or not, and I don't see a whole lot of advantage to it.

Yea thats the thing. I can't prove it. There is the whole Ty Detmer story that may/may not be true.

The advantage is clear- keep players under the team's control so they aren't made available to other teams.

You aren't man enough to do that.

What a hilarious thing to say to someone with the name Haley. Has it never occurred to you that there are female members of this board? By all means, keep spewing testosterone. It is a laugh riot!

Haley can be the name of a man or woman. So, by all means, keep spewing your idiocy. It's a laugh riot..

Fact is that you flapped your trapped pretty ridiculously and got called on it. You clearly can't handle it. And now you throw out some chauvenistic crap in a vain attempt to deflect away from the fact that you didn't think through your original post or your follow-up one. .

Excellent!

I'd like to thank the Titans for helping NE to stabilize the LBs after Mayo went down, I'd like to thank the Steeler for helping NE to round out their RB corps after the Ridley injury, and I'd like to thank Jack Daniels for helping NE to improve the DT depth after the Siliga injury.

Now, who's going to volunteer to help the Patriots out at DE?
I'd like to thank Tampa and Rutgers for becoming the first minor league affiliate's of a pro NFL team.

Blount can likely help the team sure, but he quit on his teammates in Pitt and I wish the Pats had just left him out to rot. The 'Patriot Way' takes another kick in the mouth. Blount is a bad seed, he had his shot at redemption and pissed it all away. Can't imagine Big Daddy Kraft likes the way this move will sully the Patriot name in the national view.

Bit early to start drinking isn't it?

Really, just add me to your ignore list. I have no interest in ever conversing with you. In my opinion you are nothing but a troll on these forums and how you have escaped banning is mystifying. Be well.

I like this move because it improves us for the playoff run this season, giving us two strong runners in Gray & Blount, along with the continued development of James White, and the versatility of Bolden & Vereen. Not to mention that Blount already knows us our system and this tales him off the field should we face Pittsburgh in the playoffs. We all know how dangerous Blount can be in the postseason!

Also, this gives us a known quality back for next season in Blount while they continue to bring Jonas Gray along, who I think is the feature back of the next 5-6 years, at least.

Unfortunately (or fortunately, depending on how you look at it), I am thinking may spell the end of Stevan Ridley's days in a Patriots uniform.

Thoughts?

(BTW, I just heard on 98.5 that they cut Casey Walker to make room for Blount, who is wearing #60 in practice today! Funny number for a RB!)

Im not thrilled with it but them again Im not a NFL coach. I dont like guys that quit on their teams regardless of the situation.

But Ill factor I dont know jack about running a football team and say this. If he was brought in to be a backup to Grey Im cool with that, if some reason Blount has the impression he will take snaps from grey or BB sees it that way Il be unhappy as a fan about it. I want to see Grey develop.

Im not convinced he is any better a special teams guy than Amendola but ok we know there is a fit there also.

If he is insurance for this second and maybe next due to the unknown about Ridely then I think it is great.
