Blount Signs with Pats (2yr deal)

Between Blount and Gray, that is a lot of power to wear down offensive lines.
I think you mean defensive lines?

Gray is a bowling ball and Blount is a cannon ball.

How does it negate the CBA concerns? As that article makes clear, IR is available as a designation for players who are not currently available to play due to injury. Not for healthy players you just want to protect from the waiver wire.

Not sure that one follows the other. It could just as easily mean that they didn't want to assume his Pittsburgh contract and hoped to sign him once he cleared waivers.

FWIW, Blount's remaining contract for THIS season was pretty minimal, since Pitt had to eat the signing bonus. It's just 2015 that got pricy.

Haha, love it. I've mentioned that I think Blount was overrated last year but I still think this is a great move. And a funny one.

Excellent!

I'd like to thank the Titans for helping NE to stabilize the LBs after Mayo went down, I'd like to thank the Steeler for helping NE to round out their RB corps after the Ridley injury, and I'd like to thank Jack Daniels for helping NE to improve the DT depth after the Siliga injury.

Now, who's going to volunteer to help the Patriots out at DE?

I assume no waiver claim because they would have had to honor the Steeler contract he signed. By not claiming him, they get to sign him to their (team friendly) terms.

And only one team had less priority than the Pats on claiming him (Arizona) based on their record. So if any of the 30 other teams wanted him, they were getting him ahead of NE...

What a tragic lost humor opportunity that the Pats and Steelers don't meet this season. Imagine the stolen-playbook paranoia of that fanbase!

Yet another reason to hope for the Steelers as a WC team instead of the Ravens

Nothing in the CBA says a player has to be injured to be on IR. As long as the player is paid and the season is accrued that they are on IR.

He's a guy who did good work here and had no issues unlike the other places he's been which could mean that this is a place that just clicks for him. Sometimes that happens for players, whether it's here or somewhere else.

I like this signing a lot. Low risk/moderate reward.

Too funny!
BB's luckiest year in many, as after many potentially questionable decisions he's been bailed out by unforeseeable luck. Of course you sometimes make your luck by seizing the occasional opportunities that present themselves and actualizing them.

I've been a Jack fan since the days of the Naval Weapons Test grounds in the CA desert.

The only problem with this idea is that it's not been thought out by you at all.
1) Pittsburgh didn't release Blount until Tuesday.
2) Blount had to clear waivers on Wednesday before he could be signed by someone.
3) Thursday was the earliest day that Blount could be signed by any team after he cleared waivers.

So, yes, it is outlandish.
All teams game plan for the #3 RB... ..

I don't think you understood the point of my post at all. Had you read the follow up post I made, you might get a better sense for what I'm saying. Your above reaction makes no sense with respect to the point I'm making.

The sort of good fortune they've had this year is so contrary to what they've had of late that I'm almost ready to call them a team of destiny. I won't, though, because I refuse to be the son-of-a-***** who jinxes it all.

Umm, the part that says players can go on IR if they are not able to play due to injury clearly says that you have to be injured and unable to play.

Hopefully he runs mad and realizes his full potential.

Yep, the whole season-long IR system was the result of trying to prevent illegal stashing of healthy players on IR. The NFL has made various efforts over the years to police this, e.g.:

http://www.nytimes.com/1992/10/08/s...all-nfl-looks-into-injured-reserve-lists.html

That's not to say there aren't abuses of the system, but IR'ing healthy players is not allowed.
