Blount Signs with Pats (2yr deal)

Huh...why not just put in a waiver claim, I wonder?

It's easy to forget, given how much he's bounced around the league, that Blount is still just 27 years old. (And not a ton of mileage on him, given how much time he's spent suspended and in various coaches' doghouses! :p)
Maybe it would have had a negative effect on the comp equation as Miguel pointed out in the other Blount thread.

I'm guessing the two year deal will be for less money than his Pittsburgh contract, which is why they waited. It's an interesting move, bringing in a guy who was waived for disliking a reduced role... to play him in a running back by committee system. We'll see how it works out, but it is nice to have depth behind Gray now. I wouldn't have trusted any other back to be a horse down the stretch.

I assume no waiver claim because they would have had to honor the Steeler contract he signed. By not claiming him, they get to sign him to their (team friendly) terms.

Curious to see who gets cut to make room for Blount. Casey Walker is probably gone to make room for Siliga

Does anyone have a link to the article where he said he never actually wanted to leave New England just after he signed for the Steelers? Vaguely remember that and it goes a long way to explaining his play in Pittsburgh by he just simply didn't want to be there.

It'll be good to have him back, especially with the cold coming.

o_O
I'll be very, very surprised if they mothball James White, as many have suggested.
Why? The kid hasn't played much w/ the offense or on ST.

Thanks, I had the wrong notion of his Pitt deal -- I knew that this year was essentially signing bonus + minimum, but didn't realize that his 2015 salary was set at $2 million.

Because he's Shane Vereen's backup. (Which also explains why he's been inactive -- Vereen's had his healthiest season so far, knock on wood.)

Last year with only one RB with good receiving/pass protection skills on the roster, the Patriots lost a whole chunk of their playbook after his injury. Brandon Bolden is NOT the answer in the passing game.

Source: RB LeGarrette Blount is currently at the #Patriots facility. He is expected to sign with the team.

HUH? Who will be cut? And, no, not Bolden. People on this board always discount special teams. Heck, according to this board Edelman was always in danger of being cut despite being the PR (during the Welker period)

Our waiver position is like 31 or something. He would have been taken by Denver or Indy (who have injuries at RB) so if you want him enough you you have to pay. Of course, that assumes you want him enough (taking him only to keep him away from somebody is a loser's strategy.)

Well, Blount also play special teams returning kicks, I think the odd man out is Bolden, even though his role is different, BB will find a way.

Other possibility, I think we can try to sneak White on the practice squad, he didn't show enough to make teams salivate for him. Boyce cleared waivers and he had a few plays. If someone take White, so be it.

Has Harmon's name been called once this season? It's unlikely him though. Tavon Wilson? Nate ebner to Ir?

If Blount replaces Amendola at KR I will be very, very .

My guess would be they cut a safety instead of an RB. (I'm counting Walker as gone when Siliga returns.)

Maybe getting kicked to the curb by the Stlrs has wisened him up a bit?

In any case, he will be on a short leash. He pouts or acts up, he's back on the street.

I'm looking forward to watching the opposition trying to "hit that Blount"! :D

Blount force baby **** yeah!!! Some people have some crow to eat.
