The Jets have dissapointed me time after time tomeand if draft Winston I'm done with them. I don't want anything to do with that pompus, ignorant, knucklehead that is Jarmacus Winston. He's going to implode, and I'm sure as hell not watching that happen in New York.
Newsflash: EVERYTHING and EVERYONE implodes with the Jets. It doesn't matter who it is or when they were drafted. If you haven't learned that by now, you never will. Find another team or another sport ... or another country.

And Marcus Mariota should break that trend. When will you realize, that you aren't going to change my mind? Worry about your SB caliber roster w,hile I continue to count down the days until the 2015 draft.

The Jets have sucked
The Jets do suck
The Jets will suck

The Jets ARE suck

Safe to make a "Five year" prediction that nobody will remember or more importantly care about as the moron making it will have changed names and likely died from meth use.

The only chance the accursed Jests franchise has of winning a SB is to first change ownership, then management GM & coach and then get lucky in the draft. The few decent DL players on the squad today will have moved on and the rebuild will need to be total. Meanwhile the other 31 teams are not exactly standing pat. I'm an optimist and agree that the Jests do have a chance winning a SB in the next 45 year interval. Please do not ban me for stating this.

"... and likely died from meth use"

LMAO....

The JEST version of self-medication.

Is he really still here?

Good grief.

He's like the drunk guy at the bar who has been embarrassed and thrown out but won't get the message.

In a few years, you will all see that I was correct. We will get our franchise Quarterback next year, and hopefully will win a superbowl within the next five years. It will happen, trust me.

I'll be here to remind you of these last four days, when we eventually raise the Lombardi trophy, we so desperately covet. It WILL happen in your life time, and when it happens you'll never hear the end of it from other Jet fans and I.

So, what would we do if the Jets started winning?

It is time for a lesson in metaphysics.

The Jets have what are called both an "essence" and an "appearance". Their essence is timeless and knowable by reason, the appearance is manifest to the senses and subject to change. While the world of appearance is governed by essence, essence and appearance do not always correspond.

In essence, the Jets suck -- once, now and always. There are times, it is true, when it is not apparent how much they suck or even that they suck at all. They may manifest qualities which are individually good but which, in the absence of other good qualities, become bad. But, just as intelligence in a criminal becomes vicious cunning, so virtues of combativeness and collective spirit become vices when in the service of a cause that is without goodness.

Take a performance like the Jets beating Miami at the end of last season. Miami could have gone to the play-offs yet the Jets had nothing to play for. In those circumstances the Jets manifested team spirit and the will to win. They won a meaningless game and celebrated by giving their coach a Gatorade shower. In this way, they showed clearly to the light of reason the discrepancy between their essence (to suck) and their appearance (qualities that would be signs of not sucking in other circumstances).

Could the Jets change their essence?

It is said that the ship sailed by Theseus was rebuilt and repaired so much that not a single piece of wood remained from the original. But it was still the same ship. Or was it?

If the Jets changed their players, their coach, their GM, their owner, their fans (oh yes, their fans!) and moved from New Jersey might they cease to suck? But would they still be the Jets?

Some questions are too deep for mere mortal understanding.

Locking in the Pats at 14 wins is pure comedy and homerism, especially right now, with so much up in the air with the team on offense at WR, with Welker's inevitable holdout, Mankins injury, Brady aging, BGJE's loss, and a defense that was at the bottom of the league last year.

They had a good run last year

Teams will be better prepared this year against the Patriots two TE's.

Looks like Rayge Rayge has been breeding.
To be fair Joker, quoting Ray Ray is like using the love child of 2 villages idiots (NYC and somewhere in New Jersey)? But keep rolling with it, as this is the purpose of such a wonderful thread :D.

Perhaps you're right. Because you can't change a mind you don't have.

Jets fans: HA HA HA WE BEAT YOU GUYS IN THE PLAYOFFS!!!

Pats fans: It was January 2011 and it was the last time you won a playoff game. Or went to the playoffs. Or had a record over .500.

But clearly, the Pats fans are the delusional ones.
The Colts sat starters, that let them in one season. They needed the Jags (I believe) to lose the following year.

Wait - has anyone seen Jetsfan25678 and Sergio Brown together at the same time?

But the Jetsistentialists would say that existence precedes essence, and that their essence - that they suck - is the manifestation of their continual experience of sucking.

They are accustomed to sucking, they are habituated to it, and some small part of them seeks it out. While the popular explanation is more in line with the classical idea that the Jets suck by definition, the Jetsistentialists would say that we cannot observe this essential quality, so what is important is that the Jets continually suck.

Nope, we just need to draft Mariota. If not Mariota we have to wait for Hackenberg next year (also known as Andrew Luck 2.0).

So your plan is to keep sucking for as long as it takes and that will clear the path to greatness?

Yep, there is no question about it, you are most definitely a Jets fan.

To your credit though, you have mastered phase one of the plan.

I have to admit, I would be much more skeptical of jetfans plan if the front office and team weren't cooperating fully in his quest for everlasting failure. And I can understand his optimism as he clearly roots for them to lose and be humiliated every week and they rarely let him down. Who could blame him for being a believer when they always live up to his hopes and expectations?

Anyone ever see Gallipoli?

For some reason it comes to mind?

Before Billichick, to my knowledge, you guys had very little success in developing a franchise Quarterback. Past failures should not affect what a team does in the draft. All it takes is luck. Yes, I said it LUCK. You guys lucked out in the 6th round, and because of that you've been successful, My point? Anything can happen, and past failures should have nothing to do with the present and future.

Umm... Drew Bledsoe anyone?.. Yes maybe he wasn't Tom Brady, but he WAS a legitimate franchise quarterback who brought the Pats to the super bowl vs. the Packers, something your team can't seem to do. And he didn't have nearly the level of talent around him that Brady has usually had. He was drafted and developed in New England.

It is luck when your opponent drafts and develops a franchise QB, and the product of hard work, skill, and intelligence when your team does it.

"hard work, skill, and intelligence" <--- three things the Jets also don't have, along with not having a franchise QB

It is fun watching the Jets implode, but the Jets fans being numb to the suffering just takes some of the fun out of it.
Not for me. The fact they remain fans is a fascinating study of willful self-delusion rationalizing abject despair. We all know the definition of insanity: trying the same thing over and over hoping for a different result. They keep putting on their green jerseys and going to the stadium. Then, you've got psychotics like Jetsfan25678 who says he's counting down the days 'til the 2015 draft.

I don't understand this sick form of codependency, but the way it has evolved for thousands of Green Beans fans over many years is a unique phenomenon worth monitoring closely. I suspect it'll show up as the subject of budding psychiatrists' doctoral theses.
