Josh McDaniels a Candidate at Florida?

I'm more than okay with people disagreeing with my opinion, but we've seen OCs interchanged here several times and the team only gets better.

It's not a dis to McDaniels, or O'Brien, but this team will succeed with any OC as long as he doesn't strip Brady of his ability to alter or call his own plays when he feels the need. And barring significant head injury resulting in Brady losing his mind, BB will never allow that ability to be stripped from him because Brady is the smartest player on the football field at any given point in time.

My "75%" number may be exaggerated but the idea remains the same.

As a Gator follower in Gator country, I can tell you that his name isn't mentioned much, if at all, among UF alums, boosters, diehard fans, etc.

They want a guy who has had some success already as a college coach, who has shown that he can recruit the bejesus out of Florida, and that believes in a high-octane passing offense. Josh has #3 but nothing else.

That sounds like, you know, Steve Spurrier. :p

Something to possibly keep in mind...

There's some noise among people "in the know" that should Florida strike out in their attempt to hire a "big name" coach (Bob Stoops? Chip Kelly?) to replace Will Muschamp, that Josh McDaniels would be VERY high on their "B" list of candidates.

McDaniel's was never mentioned in any reports. Do you have a link or something because i don't think this is accurate

Yeah, I have to hand it to McDaniels and Patricia. After the KC debacle, I was 100 percent on board with replacing the Coordinators. Fast forward 8 or so weeks and they've been magnificent in both concept and play design. Serves me right for overreacting to 4 performances in a regular season that is 16 games long.
There are very few people who would admit to that type of error. Kudos.

I have no problem accepting any fault in my position and duly updating it to reflect a current or more appropriate position.

Since KC, McDaniels and Patricia have been excellent. I have no qualms making that statement and accepting my initial overreaction as being poor. Both appear to have seen the issues that we all discussed and have made the appropriate changes (along with BB). That's why the Patriots are who they are.

Can't say I disagree with you... but how realistic is a "big name" hire from Florida?

Does Stoops finally say "yes"??? I doubt it. Same with Chip Kelly. I've heard Mike Shanahan is interested, but would they really hire a 62-year old coach?

Shanahan already said thanks, but no thanks. he's not interested in taking a college job right now. Chip Kelley might throw in the towel and head back to the college ranks. He's seeing what life in the NFL as a coach is REALLY like, and it's not what he expected.

I think you're more likely to see someone from the ranks of a lower-tier NFL team, if that's what the U is really looking for.

But as for Josh, he's already stated his family wants to stay here. HE wants to stay here, so I suspect as long as Belichick and Kraft are onboard, that he sticks around for the foreseeable future.

I firmly believe too many assistants run to grab HC positions long before they are ready. There is far more that goes into that position than most of them have experienced. Observing greatness is one thing but implementing your own policies and procedures is an entirely different beast.

The positions will always be there. Do your apprenticeship and when opportunity comes knocking, be sure you've got the runs on the board and a wise enough head to do so!
