Bedard Pats/Colts Film Review

it kinda incenses me how felger being a former reporter does no leg work for any nfl analysis anymore but disrespects the people who do the work and research and calls them dumb. Reiss said it best last yr when he got on felger -"Its called reporting,Mike"

Que? I hadn't heard that and I'd love some elaboration.

IDK, I bet this is their highest rated segment of the week. Felger may be upping the douchery because of it.
It might be the highest rated, but if I'm Bedard, and I have a sliver of integrity I'm not coming back next year.

Felt the o-line play was a match up type of thing. Doesn't mean they aren't good, but hard to tell. Felt they executed well.

Expects the strategy this week to be more spread them out and throw.

Caller calls in about Manning only throws screen after screen. Said he felt this was another game of things that Manning couldn't control and he can't handle it.

must have calmed mazz, so he can rail against the mankins trade some more.

Doesn't think Peyton cannot adjust to imperfect conditions. Doesn't think his arm strength ever returned.

Didn't have an issue with Brady calling an audible on the 2nd INT, but Brady should have thrown it out of bounds. Terrible play by Tom Brady.

He had no problem with the first INT. Felt the play was there, but Vollmer let the guy through and Brady couldn't get it to the right spot.

And I agree. His arm appears weaker but he is still super accurate. But I don't think he has much time left in the nfl.

Listening to Mazz talk football is like watching a dog try to use a calculator.
especially when hes trying to 'educate' bedard on football

How to defend Calvin Johnson. Expects them to bracket him.

I agree with bedard, it wasn't that the plays were bad, but given the duress he was under he didn't really have a shot at executing the throws.

I don't recall the first too vividly, but AJ said it pretty well on the 2nd, Brady avoids the pressure or gets more under the ball and Gronk has, if not a TD, a huge gain.

He was behind both safeties on the sideline and the cluster of players behind him could have made it hard for any one individual to clear the mess and get after Gronk in time.

bedard on grey. last year blount did the same thing to the colts so at first he thought grey was just a plug in, that they have the colts number when it comes to running on them. but after watching coaches tapes thinks there is something to work with. grey is quick, powerfull, and has good vision

In the first Tom threw it deep on an obviously designed long toss. Despite three defenders in the area, Tyms had gotten deep and a good throw would have been a TD. Unfortunately, Tom was hit while throwing and the pass was about 7 yards short and 4-5 to the left. Easy pickins.

My problem was more with the play selection. They were pushing Indy around so easily that I would have preferred to just keep killing them with run and intermediate passing. The fact that so many people were in the area indicates that NE's tendency to go deep in that situation (midfield after a long play/turnover) was well understood. At this point, I think they'd get more out of using that tendency against the defense instead of vice versa.

The 2 ints were a direct result of the pressure Tom was feeling. Tom could have stayed out and delivered both, but he also could of been done for that game, or many more games to come because he would have been crushed by the d linemen. I remember watching both plays, the duress Tom felt was the direct cause of the ints, it isn't even debatable.

Now Tom made a bad decision on the second int because of the pressure. Just a rare TFB brain fart.

Ok, yeah, I remember the play now, thanks for the recap.

I don't think the ball was short though, I think he was leading Tyms to it and never saw the 3rd defender, Mike Adams. Because if I am recalling it correctly, Tyms was about a full yard behind both the guys already on him, then Adams came and cut off the route.

This was the part that stuck out to meso far. Seemed to think they have something and it wasn't just having the colts number whoever was in there.

The fact that Adams was able to undercut it is why I consider it short. He was totally out of the play with a better throw.
