I beg your pardon. You don't know what the hell it is either. The only info thats out is done by the Patriot bean counters. As far as the public goes its on a need to know basis. Their version.

So consequently if they allegedly spent "to the cap" as you indicate they dont, someone could just point out that they really did not because its the "version" being fed to the public.

So either you chose an argument to support your ridiculous notions and paranoia or there is just no winning with someone like you.

The Patriots 2014 adjusted cap number is $139,109,051 so I have the Pats under it by $7,978,218. The NFLPA site has the Patriots with $8,292,148 in cap space. My numbers are therefore off by $391,930. Part of the difference is that my numbers include the impact of last week's transactions and the NFLPA's may not.

As far as those bonuses go every team has to deal that.

Of course they do, but, once again, if you bothered to get the facts straight, you would know that the Patriots have significantly more this year than ever before. That is why they have more space set aside for it. Its not real hard to understand.

But wait. You just told me that no one knows what the numbers are, that the Patriots keep them secret? Which is it? They are secret, or your spouted off without getting facts?

If you are trying to prove that your OP was based upon sheer ignorance you are doing a great job.

I'm with you all the way. But you got to admit the question of their spending will come up if they fall to .500 or a little above. I really want Tom to get one more ring and you have to admit they didn't look like SB contenders for the first month. It looked like a wasted year.

No, it didn't look like a wasted year. It looked like September.

Oh wow I remember this thread a while back. I wonder how it's progressed.

*catches up on last couple of pages*

*slowly backs out of thread*

Alrighty then . . .

That might very well be. Nobody really knows what the spending is. I only go by what I hear on radio and print, that they are under the cap.
So anytime you spend under the cap it will always lend itself to the question. Why?

Because you have to be. In fact every team in the league is under the cap. That the Patriots have more in reserve this year is because they restructured deals for players like Wilfork to make them incentive laden and they need to be able to pay them off when they reach their markers.

So you are all telling me right now they could not sign a player or two either right now or back in August???
Really??? Really???
You're all full of ****.

They "could" sign anyone that they could fit in the cap. The fact they should because some clown on a message board thinks they should seems a little odd.

They signed the top player in free agency and you are shrieking about them not signing guys in August? Seriously? Tell us which difference makers were on the scrap heap in August who they should have spent millions on?

Come on now, name those players you would have spent the millions on in August?

I really feel like this deserves a Jim Mora voice over. "August....August, we're talking about free agents in August.......?"

Awesome mea culpa by the way. Everyone else is full of sh.t, that is the definition of a mea culpa.

Good to see you have reverted to your "I was right all along" position. It was obvious from the start you weren't making any mea culpa.

Wow. You were calming down there for a few hours.

Guess the meds wore off.

Seriously, you need to spew less and listen more. You may just learn something.
No team will ever spend every cap dollar because if a player is injured they must use cap room to replace him. They also need the money to sign players, make trades, or promote a player from the practice squad.
When determining that cushion they also must take into account bonusses that are not counting toward the cap.
For example Vince Wilfork has playing time bonusses in the millions that do not count toward the cap, and all he had to do was play 5 games for them to start kicking in.
This season the Patriots have more of these Not Likely to Be Earned bonusses than ever before. This is the cost of this years team, which they could choose to saddle next years cap with (and in many case it will hit double because they will become likely to be earned for 2015) these hits and push this years money into next year, making it harder to compete cap wise next year.
They chose to leave a cushion so the cost of 2014 team is not mortgaged into 2015.
Feel free to say they should borrow from the future and set up cap problems next year, if that is the way you want this franchise run, but don't call it something else.

Dude, by and large people on this board are reasonable, and well informed.
Certainly when a large majority of the board has a shared opinion, it has merit that there is a decent chance it is correct.
When you find yourself being disagreed with by a number of posters who have a track record of understanding what they are talking about, perhaps it is you, and the idea that everyone else is full of **** is off the mark.
I'm not sure why when you know you were wrong you continue to try to defend your argument while insulting those that you admit were right, but perhaps message boards are not a good hobby for you.

Yes it's everyone else. Definetly not you.

This guy is just an idiot. And a ****y. And a liar. Probably ugly too.

Dude are you 12?

You certainly sound like a teenage troll right now. Just like at the thread's title!
