So, I know realistically Gronkowski has a <= 0% chance of being in the MVP race since he's not a QB, and not named Peyton Manning, but as far as I'm concerned, he should at least be mentioned.

There's a clear dividing line in week 5 when the team began to play him more. He played between 40-60% snaps in weeks 1 through 4. He played in almost 80% of the snaps v Cincy and hasn't looked back.

The offense went from scoring 20 PPG while the team went 2-2 to scoring 40 PPG while going 6-0. I think Gronk's playing time is the #1 reason. Brady has been playing at an MVP level, but his struggles early on were about what was around him - or not around him (Gronk). The OL has steadied itself and then some, but they had to endure some more personnel changes due to injury during this run. The constant has been the unstoppable force that is Gronk.

Realistically, what would Gronk need to do to get his name in the MVP race? Is it even possible? The importance of him to our offense is insane, and once again we see this year - it's the difference between being the top offense and middle of the pack.

Averaging 2TD/game for the last six games might do it.

Well - I would take that...

Mods feel free to merge this w the Watt/Gronk thread I missed.

Much as I love Gronk if the MVP comes from the Patriots it goes to Brady, period.

No way Gronk would ever get consideration...but he should. Like i said last week...he goes down..so does this team...that's pretty valuable

Watt would get MVP before he ever does but sadly 99% of the time only QB's are considered

i love gronk but who throws him the ball?:):)

Is there any doubt that Gronk would be a pro bowl tackle? Holy hell can he block.

Gronk already is receiving consideration. Maybe not enough to win, but he's been discussed

If Gronk breaks Moss ' s TD reception record, which would involve averaging more than 2 TD's per game, I think he will get some MVP consideration.

MVPs don't win SBs, he is a shoe-in for the CBPOY though.

It would be cool if somebody who wasn't a Qb or a Rb won Mvp, but Watt probably has a better shot than Gronk.

even if Gronk gets 20 TD's that would mean Brady has 40 and a 14-2 record so like others said the MVP would go to Brady

Ivan, its very rare that I disagree with you, but I do on this one.

The effect Gronk has in the rushing, passing and blocking game, and the coverage he draws when he's out there ( who remembers Vereen TD vs the Texans last year, where he was wide open, because 3 defenders followed Gronk to the end zone ) makes him in my eyes, just as valuable to this team as Brady. How many times have we said if he was healthy last 3 years, wed have at least 2 SB's?

We seen the difference he makes for this team. Who remembers how anemic this offense was first 6 weeks of last season? And the first 4 this year while on a snap count? We went from having piss poor offense, to an offensive juggernaut over night.

For the record, I usually couldn't give a crap about regular season MVP's AKA the Peyton Manning award, but I would love to see Gronk win the award. Gronk is a beast. Plus Brady already has 2....

With that said, if Brady wins his third....I'd be far from mad!

Gronk fined like $8,000 today for tossing Sergio Brown out of the club

I bet the team pays his fine for him
