Revis Overall Performance and Rating

Steve Smith stat line last year vs Talib goes in line with Revis worst stat line this year.

I'd say Revis worst game was probably week 1 vs the Dolphins. And didn't Wallace only get something like 4 or 5 catches for 60+ yards and a TD?

If that's his worst game of the season, you'd be a fool to ***** about him. Actually the fact that people don't notice the improvements in our Defense compared to last year is quite pathetic. Remember we let QB's like Jason Campbell throw all over us.

And the TD was a lucky bounce and a great reaction by Wallace.

I'd also argue that Wallace might be the toughest guy in the league to cover WHEN the QB has all day to throw. The pass rush in week 1 was anemic when the Pats wore down int eh second half.

Kind of like a Madden rating.

Let's say 100 is the best possible rating, perhaps only achieved by Revis or Deion Sanders in their primes, 95 is all-pro, 90 is pro bowl, 80 is average starter, 70 is a borderline player, and anything below that is Darius Butler territory. I would say that Aqib Talib last year overall was roughly an 88-90. Where would you rate Revis's play this year? Has he lived up to your expectations? And do you think he is worthy of being the highest paid CB in the league?

On that metric, he's in the low 90s. Better than a 'standard' pro bowler, not quite on his prime level. Probably an All Pro, but not certain. He's really really good.

not *****ing at all about revis I just think Talib was a lot better then some give him credit for and as I said in my first post the one thing Revis brings above just his play on the field is that players around the NFL have a lot of respect for him and I think that has made every DB on the team play even better

The correct scheme for the team is the one that maximizes the players' strengths.
The SUM of the parts, not just one player.
It does not do much good to have Revis lock down the receiver on one side if the guy on the other side can't play man.

Revis passing on interviews this week... Sunday can't come fast enough.

I heard somewhere that Belichick put the entire locker room on media lock down this week, with the exception of our veteran players well versed in Belichick-speak.

(or was it the rookies he forbid from the media this week?)

Either way, that tells me that this team, internally, wants to beat Denver's ass bad - so bad that Belichick didn't want any of it seeping out into the world from loose lips.

After Revis admitted the Patriots had this game circled, it's been basically a black out.

Tidbits like this give rise to optimism that Revis has found where he wants to play football.

We need to lock down Revis, in my opinion. He is incredible.

they REALLY need to sign this guy this off season..he is such a key part to this team...Pay him the $$

Seriously, I don't see how NE doesn't give this man whatever he wants in the offseason. He gives BB soooo much flexibility in scheming for teams. All that exotic stuff we used to see but couldn't do in recent years is back. The D is making life so much easier on the O. I'm drunk in love with Revis right now. Ty Law is my second all-time player, but Revis is Ty Law on steroids (not really on steroids).

I celebrate the man's entire catalogue

That's because all most people know how to do is look at stats and base their judgments solely on numbers. The D is far and away better this season and it's only getting better as the season goes along. We held the Broncos to 21 and the Colts to 20 (though I say 13 because one came on a very short field) in consecutive games. They were the two highest scoring teams besides NE. C'mon!

We are blessed to have the best players in three respective positions

QB Tom Brady
TE Rob Gronkowski
CB Darrelle Revis

SIGN REVIS TO A LONG TERM DEAL

Revis on Lock Down. Get out those Salary Cap figures, need space for REvis.

Luck was 1 of 6 for 5 yards and an INT when targeting Revis. The one completion was a failed third down.

The 46 yarder was blown coverage and not on him according to the reports from the locker room.
