I'm bored on a Saturday watching college football, whipped up a quick spreadsheet which adds up Patriots receiving TDs by uniform number from 2001 until now.

Some trivia questions based on my findings:

1) What are the three highest scoring uniform numbers overall, in order?

2) What are the two highest scoring uniform numbers which are NOT in the 80s?

3) What are the two highest scoring uniform numbers in the 10s?

4) What are the only two uniform numbers with a receiving TD which are not in the 10s, 20s, 30s, 40s or 80s?

5) What is the only uniform number in the 80s which does not have a receiving TD in this period?

6) What wo numbers have the most different players with a receiving TD?

It'll be a lot more fun if you guess and don't research, I know some were certainly a surprise to me. I will share the overall numbers and answers with everyone after a guessing period.

1.) 3 (the question doesn't ask which receivers!),4, 81, 87, 80, the latter 3 being my guesses.
2.) 50, 11
3.) 11, 10
4.) 50, and ...no idea
5.) 89
6.) 83, 85

All based on memory, pretty sure 3 is wrong, complete guess, and half of 2 im sure is wrong.

Well 5 is fairly easy if you think about it for a moment (fun fact—the TEs alone take care of at least six of them):

80–the other TFB :)
81–2007
82–Algernon
83–Welkah
84–the Twig
85–the Prisoner
86–David Thomas, among others
87–GRONK
88–the other Brady

[Don't read down until you do it, self-indulgent thought process included!]

1) I think Gronk has about 45-50 TD. Moss was 81, he had a couple huge seasons and maybe totaled 35-40 TD with NE. Did Welker (83) have more than Troy Brown (80)? Brown played about six or seven years, and was huge and key much of that time, but Welker had maybe five years of sheer dominance. AH was emerging strong but didn't have nearly as much production...think he was 85?. Branch was 84, he was sort of productive. Ben Watson was 84 too. What number was Grahambo, 82? David Givens was also 87 so that number gets his contribution, making 87 an even better play. I'm sure there are some forgotten dudes at 81 and 83 too while Troy Brown hogged 80 and probably that number didn't get played after he retired. I'll say 87, 81, 83.

2) Hmm. Kevin Faulk has to be there. Bet 33 caught ten TD over the years. Then...Edelman (11) is probably in there too, he's been a beast for a couple years but doesn't score too much. Gaffney (10?)? Bethel Johnson (19)? Dillon (28)? A. Smith (32 I think)? Ridley (22)? Sam Gash? I'd say Dillon ran for way more TD than he caught. Mike Vrabel caught three or four TD IIRC which I say is less than what Edelman has caught. Gonna go with 33 and 11 but wouldn't be surprised if it was 33 and 50.

3) All right, Edelperson (11) has to be in here. I think Gaffney was 10 but did he have a lot of production? Bethel Johnson (19)? 12 and 15 are QB...don't recall Hoyer's number...think Cassel was 7...What number is Hooman...There was an 18...crap. All right, 11 and 10.

4) Vrabel/50. Annnnd maybe Mayo (51)? Did Nink catch one? Never mind he's 50 too. It might be Cassel who I think was 7. Maybe one of the old dudes like Bryan Cox or Roman Phifer or Bruschi or Colvin. No clue. All right gonna guess 50 for sure and 54.

5) Not 80, 81, 82, 83, 84, 85, 87. 86 was a generic TE number. 88 and 89 are the candidates. I don't remember anyone with either number. I'll go with 89.

6). All right, we need two skill position numbers that have a lot of different folks using them. That seems to rule out longer career numbers like 80, 83, 87, 33. 82 was Graham and Crumpler and maybe some other TE, 84 was Watson and Branch, 81 was Moss and a few other dudes, 86 was ?...32 was A. Smith and some other RB, 34 is Vereen and I bet some other RB. 11 is Edelman and probably a few other dudes, 22 is Ridley and... All right looking at that list, I'll say 82 and 84.

Fun exercise!

Strictly speaking, you answered the question the OP intended to ask, but not the one he actually ended up asking. ;)

Mike Vrabel caught three or four TD IIRC which I say is less than what Edelman has caught. Gonna go with 33 and 11 but wouldn't be surprised if it was 33 and 50.

Vrabel had 8 regular-season TDs, 10 counting the Super Bowls.

Cassel was 16 here, 7 in KC. Hoyer was 8.

I think the other number for #4 aside from Mike Vrabel (50) is Tom Ashworth (68). I definitely remember Brady throwing a touchdown pass to Tom Ashworth.

1. 81, 87, 83

2. 11, 33?

3. 11, 19

4. Only can think of 50

5. 89

6. 85 (Jermaine Wiggens , *Aaron Hernandez, Ocho cinco, Brandon Lloyd, Kenbrell Tompkins). 81 ( Donald Hayes, Randy Moss, Aaron Hernandez, Tim Wright)

* AH wore 85 is rookie year.

Highest scoring numbers are 4, 20 and 3. Ghost barring an injury will be #1 by seasons end.

OOOppppps. LOL It's too early I just read scoring. :(:(

1) 81, 87, 83

2) 33, 11

3) 11, 18

4) 50, 90 (Dan Klecko maybe? haha no idea)

5) 89

6) 84, 88
