Rex Ryan yells "F*** You" to head ref after game, suspension?

Ever hear of the term "Act like you've been there before"?

This year (and for the past few) Rex forgets what an NFL victory is like.

Hell, he probably hasn't even seen his wife's feet in a few months.

.

I would expect a fine, not suspension. Besides, suspending Rex might actually make the Jets better.

Look, if you touch a referee like that in the middle of the game you get ejected, whether you are trying to get his attention or/are just angry with him. Players/coaches curse at the officials all the time.

Unless it's the Super Bowl and you play for the Ravens ;)
(No penalty, no ejection, no fine for this after the league reviewed it*.)

*To go off on a tinfoil hat wearing tangent, you'll see posts on other team's message boards like "Kraft runs the league" or "Kraft controls the commissioner" whenever a 50/50 call goes the Patriots way. Above you have a Ravens player shoving an official in the most watched game of the season and nothing happened. I could almost understand a "Let them play/Heat of the moment" approach during the game, but for the league to review it afterwards and not levy a fine is hard to believe. And that wasn't the only unusual pro-Ravens call in that game. Not calling holding when the Ravens took a safety at the end of the game comes to mind, especially since Baltimore was explicitly trying to hold to burn off a couple extra seconds on the play.

Then you have the Ray Rice incident where the Raven's owner and front office personnel met with Goodell and essentially told him "Ray is a good guy, go easy on him" and Goodell actually did. You never hear "Bisciotti runs the league," though. You'd think AFC North fans would be all over that, at least.

As a Patriot's fan I never want Rex suspended. A new 10 year deal would be more like it.

LMAO @ you guys who think that Refs don't get sworn at constantly. Are we watching the same games?

Same thing as when a .GIF of a quarterback or a punter getting hit helmet to helmet is posted on here and some dumb ass keeps claiming that it's not a helmet to helmet hit then digs his heels in for an entire thread. I honestly have no idea what the hell people watch sometimes.

I think it matters by degree, since we see benches (coaches) flagged for unsportsmanlike conduct on occasion. What Wrecks did might have crossed the line.

I'm trying to figure out the math here. I see a screenshot with 3rd & 12 and then there is two 15 yard penalties for a total of 30 yards. Then I see another screenshot with 3rd & 46. Doesn't 12 + 30 = 42 or did I miss something where an extra 4 yards comes in?

Maybe they just docked them another 4 yards because it's the Jets.

I'm sure they do, but the question isn't do the refs get sworn at. The question is who is dumb enough to get caught on camera doing it, loudly and repeatedly. That will spoil the whole illusion that the game is family friendly, and we can't have that.

That would be one slippery slope in sports. Have you ever seen Claude Julien after there's a bad call against the Bruins? They pan to him every time, even though the camera guys must know by now what they are going to get...

The screenshots I posted are what happened *after* the Jets were assessed the two penalties for Rex cursing at the ref and Vick taunting/tossing the ball at a player. The first screenshot is Rex cursing at a sideline official, after the penalties were assessed but before the next play. Didn't get penalized for that as he was simply cursing, and a 3rd 15 yard penalty in the same play would have been a lot.

However, the Steelers then scored a TD and the Jets were on their 3rd down in victory formation. Once the head ref motioned that the game was over, Rex turned to him as he took off his glasses and yelled ****-you at the head official standing just 14 yards away while the cameras were zoomed in on his face. Of course the officials are not going to penalize a coach at that point, but that was disrespectful behavior he should apologize for, even more than the original yelling at the head ref he actually got flagged for earlier. And to the U.S. Military and the Saints, as he was disgracing their gold colors instead of behaving like this with the Jets green colors. And to the viewers at home.

One problem with your analysis, BB's 'incident' occurred as they were rall running toward the tunnel AFTER THE GAME was whistled over.

As shown by the Ravens SB gif someone else posted, I could equally well argue players/coaches 'touch' (or worse) officials all the time.

And my argument was more a comparison of intents -that rexy's was worse (& if NFL we're cough-cough consistent should be equally /more punished). seeing as sexy rexy has a previous fine violation for using the middle finger on nat tv (not necessarily at a ref) & the league has consistently fined anyone who impugns the ref's judgement in post game comments; Rex was using vulgar language to impugn the ref publicly and directly. BB on the other hand was not being disrespectful, but just trying to speak to the guy.

3rd and 46...LOL. I don't think I've ever seen THAT one before! Only the Jests! :p And Rex Ryan drops an F-bomb?? I'm shocked to hear that...SHOCKED I tell you!!!

Pats had a 4th and 63 against the Cowboys in 1971.

Absolutely ridiculous. Coaches curse at refs almost every play, this isn't new. And didn't Brady swear at a Ref after the loss against Carolina? By your logic, Brady should have been suspended for that.

You need to Check out Sound FX on NFL Network.

Rex got upset? No way!?!?

$100k for a four-letter word at Met Life after a win. Rex ought to hire a lawyer and sue the NFL and the Commissioner for violating his First Amendment rights.

Roger Goodell's defense attorneys would not be able to assemble a jury in the state of New Jersey or New York that would find for the NFL.

Seriously. I've been down to the Meadowlands twice to see a Jets - Patriots game, and it was a requirement for admission to say "F#&! You!" to somebody. If you didn't, security took you out in the parking lot, egged your car, and beat the crap out of you. Hell, when you ordered two beers, the concession guy would look at your license, say "F#&! You! That'll be sixteen dollars." He didn't get fined.

Rex Ryan is being discriminated against and his rights are being trampled. My God, this country is going soft.

Unless the NFL or the Jets became an arm of the United States or New York government while I wasn't looking, Ryan has precisely zero first amendment rights against them.
