Detriots o-line could be depleted when they come to New England

Hate facing weakened opponents, but after watching their DL decimate a Miami OL that has played decently the last few weeks, I'm willing to accept any advantage we can get. That team looks scary.

mediocre team on the road.

Good team. Scary? Not remotely. To me, anyway.

mediocre team on the road.

They still have the same record as us, got one of the most talented WRs in the league back, who looks healthy, and have a great DL. Mediocre on the road or not, everyone wants to beat New England, because we're New England.

Not surprised people dropped like flies from that game yesterday. That was a very physical affair. That said, anything that helps the Pats get more pressure on Stafford (who can be a turnover machine when he's under duress) is a welcome sight to me.

So Detriot on the road is more scary than New England at home?

And they have won their last three games by a combined 6 points. Two of those games were against teams with losing records (Saints in Detroit and Atlanta in London).

Stafford is so hot and cold....wayyy too inconstant. Can almost be like luck..throw some bad INTs or make some great passes (luck is better of course)

And we had to block a field goal to ensure a victory over the 1-6 Jets, at home, during the middle of the hottest stretch any team in football has had in 2014. Close games happen.

I'm not saying that Detroit is the best team in the NFL, but they have a suffocating defense, lead the league in points allowed, and a nasty pass rush. Defense usually travels well, and considering they are currently the best in the NFL (not accounting for strength of opponents) they will be the best we face.

Even with Calvin, their offense doesn't scare me too much. They can't run the ball and as noted their OL, which has already given up 27 sacks and countless more pressures should be even weaker, on the road.

I just feel like our OL is currently playing better than they are and will eventually come back to Earth, I just hope that I'm either A.) Wrong, and they've actually become this good, or B.) it doesn't happen against Detroit's DL.

They're a good team, but they're not better than us, certainly not at our house, but that doesn't mean I can't have concerns about their strengths.

Calling them scary isn't saying we lose. It means one of their strengths plays into something that I'm still hesitant to not call a potential weakness, which is their DL against our OL I'm still not 100% sold on.

But, it's a bye-week and we've all been without our team for over a week now. I understand everyone wanting to jump to conclusions about the meaning of a post during this withdrawal period.

The Pats also won four of the last five games in blow outs.

Their defense is good, but suffocating is an overstatement. Drew Brees threw for 342 yards against them. Kyle Orton passed for 294 yards against them. I think Brady can pass all over them.

I am not guaranteeing a win, but people are making the Lions a far better team than they really are. They had a favorable schedule and they snuck by a few teams.

I don't trust Stafford at all as a QB, but man that guy has an arm. He was just doing little sidearm flicks of his wrist yesterday that were going 40 yards on a rope.

I think the Pats might lose vs Detroit. I do think the Patriots are an overall better team but Detroit is a HORRIBLE match up for the Patriots.

Suh is going to cause headaches all day. Too strong for Wendell/Connolly and Stork is too green to hope to hold up. Even if you double team him he will cause trouble and just open lanes for other guys.

Our D is designed to stop precision pass offenses or softer offensives. Detroit is neither. They have big physical targets that can over power our DBs. They are not like the Brandon Marshall/Jefferies Tandem that while big are kinda soft.

Calvin can run over and through Browner. He has almost 20 lbs on him and will play like it and probably over power him. Revis on Calvin would not work either. The Patriots will just need to double team him and try to disrupt him and do their best to fight off those jump balls he is so good at bringing down.

Also Detroit has some speed out of the back field and I think will challenge our LBs all day to catch Bush/Bell.

Obviously their weakness is Stafford. If he plays badly then the Patriots should win. If he plays his usual average game though it will be close.

You may be right, but I just don't see them as being on NE's level. I'll be much more surprised if NE loses by one point than I will if they win by 30.

I realize that today's rules are different than a few years ago, but I think that this statement is incorrect. I remember the moment I realized how special a player that Revis was, was when he was defending Calvin Johnson. I think it was the first play of the game, or at least very early on and Stafford decided to test Revis as he was one-on-one against Calvin going up the sideline and at the last second Revis shoots his hand up and breaks up the pass which was an incredible throw that should have landed right over Calvin's shoulder and into his waiting arms. That moment was when I realized the true greatness of Revis and I'm sure that Revis can hold his own against Calvin this time around as well.
