Siliga was placed on short term IR on 9/27.

After six weeks, players on short term IR are eligible to practice.

"The rules state:
At any time after the conclusion of the sixth week that a player designated for return has been on Reserve/Injured, a club is permitted to return him to practice for a period not to exceed 21 calendar days. Provided that the player has been on Reserve/Injured for at least eight weeks from the date he was placed on Reserve, a club is permitted to return him to its Active/Inactive List at any time during the 21-day period, or prior to 4:00 p.m., New York time, on the day after the conclusion of the 21-day period."

Since six weeks would be this past Saturday....If he's ready to go, we should see him practicing this week. The only thing that I think that might stop this from happening would be that the bye week doesn't count as a week.

Good luck running against that potential 3 man DL!

Excellent news. I don't think he's eligible until after the Colts game, but he will be a welcome addition down the stretch.

When he comes back, I wonder who gets cut?

My guess would be Casey Walker.

That would be the dumbest thing we could do.

Casey Walker has been fantastic. Well deserving of a roster spot. I'd easily cut Chris Jones or Zach Moore before him.

Walker has been inconsistent. Sometimes great, Sometimes horrible. I don't think he is guaranteed a roster spot if and when Siliga comes back.

The guy has been credited with one tackle the last two games and that was an assisted tackle.

Why cut a DL at all?

Does Tyms do anything on special teams? He hasn't done anything on Offense since the Bills game, does he even get on the field?

We say that about every line we have every time we bring someone in/back. Not trying to be a downer but I'll wait and see before predicting anyone can't run on us.

Ronnie Hillman is an awful RB and the Broncos were down by 20 much of the last game, too, before that game is cited as the run D being fixed.

I want it to be fixed as much as everyone, but I'm crowning one player returning with the role of "savior" just like I'm not anointing Bryan "1 catch" Tyms as the deep threat we've been missing since Moss left. I still can't believe how hyped he was after one play, on a pass that never should have been thrown, on a catch that was way harder than it should have been due to no separation, etc.

That's a lotta beef. ;)

You are correct. He's not eligible to return to a game until the 8th week. He can start practicing now, however.

Tyms is our 4th WR and got about a dozen snaps on offense (only 1 target, but that is one more than Tim Wright got); in any case he dressed ahead of Dobson who has been inactive. That could change at any time, of course, but I'd be surprised to see him get cut.

Belichick seems to like cutting players that are eligible to come back to the PS but is not a great loss if another team picks them up in the mean time. We have an excess of receivers with Tyms and Dobson not seeing much playing time. Tyms might be one of the players under consideration for being let go.

The same logic applies to Walker.

I wasn't sure about Walker. I thought he was signed off another PS which I think means he had to be signed to the 53 man roster and not eligible for the PS at that time. I think that was to stop teams from signing players from one PS to their PS. What I am not clear about is if a team could sign another teams PS squad to their 53, release them and then try and get to them to their PS.

Yes, he does get on the field and stretch the D. LaFell shouldn't be the only active WR over 6'0", so either Tyms or Dobson needs to be a gameday active.

The CBA experts can provide more information. I believe the requirement used to be that pats have to have him on our 53 for 3 weeks. I'm not even sure that this clause is in the current CBA.

Absolutely. And a Gronk, Amendola or LaFell injury makes both of them necessary actives, so I'm not sure why people consider them so superfluous.

Yes, three weeks, which have long passed. NE can do whatever they please with Walker.

Yes, Tyms or Dobson needs to be a game day active for the 10 reps that one of them will play. It does seem to be a good idea to have an inactive backup WR. It seems unlikely that Belichick would want to see one of our Practice Squad WR's on the 53.

Also, I believe that Belichick would like to have both Dobson and Tyms to compete in 2015 for roster spots.
