Garoppolo trade value for 2015?

Unless Brady goes down for 1 or 2 games and Garop torch NFL defenses in this time, a trade would not make sense for both the Patriots and the other part.

Garopolo for Adam Seward. Straight up.

Seriously though - the market for backup QBs who might be good but we don't really know for sure has always been really overinflated on this board. And I don't know why we would trade him, same reason Mayo said^^.

If the draft happened again, JG would go in the first round. As things stand today we have got a steal (though that could change in the future, you never know)

Why would we trade away a man who looks capable of being a franchise QB and who has been specifically brought in to be just that????

Sometimes this place makes my brain hurt worse than getting KO'd by Browner

His value would be a late 2nd to early 3rd just as it was in may. He's done nothing to change that.
Actually, he has, by outperforming all the QBs selected ahead of him in the preseason. Mayby not much, but I'd be willing to be they could get a higher pick then they spent for him.
That said, I don't think there's even the slightest chance they do it.

Why are we always trying to trade away our backups????
Well this week it looks like former Pats back-ups are starting for two teams, and another was the starter for another NFL team this year. They tend to be at least Top 40 quarterbacks in the league once they have a chance to start... so there is value there, plus we have a myopic focus on TB-12 being immortal as long as we forget about Pollard et al.

No question -- just as the value of a good backup QB is constantly underinflated. Look at Dallas, rushing an injured Romo back into the lineup because Brandon Weeden gives them no chance at a win.

Mayo summed it up:
his replacement cost would be higher than his trade value.

The Patriots have a young and extremely promising QB under contract through 2017 for a pittance. That's a hugely valuable asset to the Patriots, and it's unlikely that another team would offer greater assets in return.

Is his value higher based on pre-season and a partial 4th quarter vs. the Chiefs? Really? Didn't teams learn from this when they gave Matt Flynn a big contract and how did the same strategy work for TB?

The unexpectedly good QB play of Brian Hoyer is fueling this trade talk and stoking crappy teams obsession with Tom Brady's back ups (Cassell, Hoyer, Mallet, etc...).

At this point Grapes is worth more to the Patriots than another team. TB12 goes down the Pats are done w/o a competent understudy. If Grapes comes in, my belief is that he can at least manage a game, not make dumb mistakes and keep the team competitive.

Note than I didn't say someone would give 2 1st rounders for him. But considering that he outperformed his peers that were drafted ahead of him in preseason, I'd expect someone to be willing to invest something higher than the 62d pick.

I heard on the radio earlier today that there is talk about Winston tanking the first half against Louisville to help a friend win 5k.

This guy is a nightmare. If there is any truth to the story, Mariota may be the only 1st round QB and he has a lot of doubters because accuracy.

There are plenty of teams out there who need a quarterback & at draft time it is not uncommon for a team to reach to get a quarterback.

Locker, Ponder, Manual all went 10-15 overall.

You never know with Belichick.
I honestly could see his moving Garropalo if the price was right.

I was just asking his value, which I believe is 10-20 in the first round considering the lack of a franchise QB in this draft.

Garropalo has also showed accuracy & touch which is something nobody ever said about Mallett.

I could see Belichick trade him to
Tampa for a 2015 pick 3rd & 2016 first.

Maybe I am over valuing Garrapolo,
But it only takes one team to bite.

We should keep drafting quarterbacks in the 2nd and 3rd round which we can then turn around and trade to Houston for their 1st.

What is the point of trading Garoppolo? This kid was a great find. The issue is not what you get for him, it's who replaces him? There is no reason whatsoever to create a need at QB where none exists.

Every time he's stepped in during the pre-season or regular season he's moved the chains and even notched a TD versus the Kansas City Chiefs in the debacle at Arrowhead. He is by far the best first-year backup during the Brady-Belichick era.

We're much more comfortable with Garoppolo than we were with Mallett. Maybe people here feel differently, but I always felt the Patriots were screwed when they moved on from Hoyer and handed the backup job to Mallett. Now, it seems like the offense wouldn't take as big a step backwards if Garoppolo had to fill in for a while. It would get simpler, for sure, but Garoppolo's decision making and quick release lends itself to keeping much of the passing game intact.

Belichick shouldn't even pick up the telephone for less than a first rounder. And I ain't expecting anyone to call with a first rounder unless he plays more this season in meaningful time (maybe week 17 if the Pats have locked up HOF).

Other than the Luck's of the world, it's not a bad idea for a young QB to be a backup, learn the playbook, get stronger and practice with Pros before he starts. Lets say Brady plays 3 more years, we can have a player that has learned the system for 4 years and is hopefully mature enough to start. I don't see the problem of letting Jimmy G be the backup for 3-4 years.

I'll bet we could get a conditional 7th in 2017 from someone.

Something like 8 -10 QB's who could go in the top 4 rounds ...

I think teams would rather take a chance on them as opposed to giving a #1 for Aladdin.

1st round projected QB's aren't all they are made out to be anyways.
