Brady felt dissed by Manning?

I don't think there is anything personal amongst these guys at all.

Could some things be directed at the media? Absolutely.

Granted, the way Denver and Manning celebrated the 509 TD landmark was incredibly embarrassing. Personal landmarks should be cherished but they treated it like they had just advanced...or won...the Super Bowl.

The media were all over that story whilst slagging the Patriots off and labeling Brady a QB in decline. They were just dropping a gentle reminder to the media that no one cares about stats. Well..they do...but only the stats that line the WIN column and how many rings are sitting on your hand.

People WANT there to be beef between these two QBs because Patriots Nation has a common dislike for him...naturally because he is always compared to our very own Brady...but there really isn't. These two are great friends. They're also competitors so you will see them get heated and fired up at times.

Just my take, but I don't care a bit whether they're BFFs or they despise one another. Their friendship, which they both say exists, is a cute story and very likely true. But, I couldn't care less.

I get amazed at how much personal energy people invest in the "relationship" between Brady and Manning, when the truth is that only the two of them and their closest circles of friends and family really know what it is.

Are they just saying the right things when they say they're "friends" and have a great deal of "respect" for each other? Or do they dislike and disdain each other? Or do they truly like each other on a personal level?

We don't know and we can't know.

These are two consummate professionals, who are also very smart and savvy about what they say to the media.

Let's just enjoy the time we still have when they, two of the greatest ever to play QB in the NFL, are still competing against each other and leave the "relationship" where it belongs, between the two of them.

Just to be clear, I liked the original post because I thought it was funny and not malicious. Brady definitely thought it as a joke too because I do. ;)
I agree. I'm just having fun with it. But for anyone to deny TB said that, because of Peytons comment, is fooling themselves. Malicious or not. You cant deny it gave him a little motivation. Ppl getting bent out of shape over this thread is a little overboard, IMO. When i heard Tb say that, I loved it. Manning can go pound salt, for all I care.

I'm watching NFL replay. And you know when they do those "miked up" type breaks? I heard Brady, in the huddle, and he said "lets go answer the bell". An obvious reference to Peytons "compliments" to Brady. When will people learn not to doubt him . TB showered Peyton with praise. And that pompous *** says "Tom can really answer the bell"? Hey 5 head, hows it feel to get your bell rung?

Can you explain what is insulting about "He can really answer the bell"?

Maybe I'm missing something or not getting the hidden meaning?

"Answer the bell" is a boxing term. When someone says you can "really answer the bell", that's a compliment. You get beat up for a round, take a quick rest, and come out swinging again when that bell rings.

All Brady was saying was that the bell sounded and it was time for the next round. Heavyweight boxing... I mean football... at its finest.

You'd have to ask Tom. He's the one who referenced it during the game.

He was repeating what Manning said in his presser. What's so hard to understand? I'm done with this thread. Excuse me for getting caught up in Brady's excitement. Geez. Get over yourselves

This is purely speculation on my part but I don't think they're as `buddy buddy` as the feel-goods like to pretend. Maybe it's my imagination but I've seen a lot of between the line subtleties this week coming from the podium that sounds like a jab straight at Peyton. Belichick's "this isnt fantasy football" can be listed among them. I think Brady said something about stats, too.

I agree. I think they pretend to be buddy-buddy for the sake of both of their public images. CBs and WRs can publicly hate each other, but it would be weird for two QBs to publicy profess their hate for one another.

No he was not. Brady has used the phrase numerous times. "Answering the bell" was just the appropriate phrase to use. This was a challenge and they were answering it.
There is nothing to see here.

I think what people are trying to say is that 'answering the bell' is a compliment, albeit pretty luke warm one.. Manning didnt say "Brady is one of the greatest QBs" or some other superlative aboout his talent or leadership- he said he always "answers the bell". Some/alot/most of you work and no doubt take immense pride in what you do. If someone were to comment on your performance, you'd want to hear that you were a great salesman, the best diagnostic mechanic, or the finest lawyer around... not "well - he shows up everyday..." That's what "answering the bell" means to me...

I don't think Silver,Blue, & Red was trying to be malicious with his post. I thought he was being tongue and cheek about it. I just think the some took his original post in this thread way TOO seriously. I don't always agree with Silver,Blue & Red. However, I find Silver, Blue &Red to be one of several posters who I find to be extremely nice and thoughtful.

In regards to the Manning/ Brady rivalry. I don't think they are friends, but I don't think they hate each other either. Sure they want to beat each other on the field, but other than that I doubt there's animosity between them. Not a Peyton fan or anything just calling things how I see them.

Brady pulling for Manning and vice versa = about the same chance as any man cheering on his spouses lover to give it to her good.

I guarantee BB and TB take some exception to the way Peyton and DEN call plays designed almost exclusively to boost personal passing stats when running would actually kill time AND and get the TD. Yet they (NE) are the ones to get called for running the score when they are the first to take the air out of the ball in a won game.

I doubt that Brady actually felt dissed by P6.

Brady being the 199th pick has been enough motivation for him.

A great example of that was when Drew Brees was going for the record. Manning took it to another level last year.

There's no such thing as running up the score in the NFL, not when point differential is one of the tie-breakers. The last time it was truly irrelevant was when Seattle let up on Denver in last year's SB. They had nothing to gain by scoring more so they simply ran the ball into the line on every play, even on fourth down, when they were in the red zone three more times at the end.
