Belichecks Offseason thus far.

I think bb counted in silgea being the complimentary DT to wilfork and that is why bb let jelly walk.

Blount was the only head scratcher in my book.

Loved the rest of the moves.

About the only move that I'd like to have back would be kelly, that's as much on the player as BB -- it just wasn't working out.

Other than that aces all around for sure!!

Ayers, Branch and Casillas werent add on off-season activities, but whatever.

Positives: Revis and Browner were great signings. Chung is a helluva a surprise. LaFell is a huge steal on the makings. Stork is coming up nicely. Excelent resignsof Edelman. Mankins trade seems to be better for us

Negatives:Except for a UFA and Stork, none of the draft picks are part of each main team (granted, there's more than enough time to turn this around). Not addressing the lack of LB depth is noticeable now. The OLine, although playing well and without any cristiscim of late by me, could have been better through veteran signings. Horrible develpment(as in not enough production or participation) by the sophomores (Harmon, Dobson, Boyce and thompkins. Collins the only bright light)

Overall Grade: 7.5/10

Lack of productivity by the younger drafted core is concerning, but there's still time for them to became fully integrated on this team. Although not aggressive (which is usual) as some might have hoped(I'm included), every FA seems to be working out nicely for us. The Mankins trade is looking like a good one in the long run, but Wright still need to see more time on the field, also early hiccups were cause in good part by this

How so? The Easley and Stork are producing with the latter an entrenched starter. Fleming looked comparably competent when he started in week 4, which probably means he'd look even better with the current group. Moore was expected to be a multi-year project and has already been on the active 45 a few times. Jimmy G looks significantly better than the small school project he was supposed to be

Sure, I'd like to see more from White and it would have been nice to get an immediate starter from that second round pick, but those are desires, not reasons to be concerned.

For 1600 touches, 32 TDs, over 12,000 all-purpose yards and outstanding at blitz pickup for "The Franchise" and locker room leadership he was cheap.

BB values blocking in RBs a lot. Hence the lowball offers (if any) to Woodhead, and hence also my opinion that Vereen is likely to be resigned.

Agreed. As long as the bidding doesn't get wacky he'll be back.

Thus far Tommy Kelly has played 8 games, started 8 games, recorded 11 tackles, 4 assists, 1 pass defended and 0 sacks. Meanwhile, the guy playing so poorly that we need Kelly back, Dom Easley, has played 6 games, started 6 games, recorded 5 tackles, 3 assists, 1 pass defended, 1 pick and 1 sack. Obviously stats don't tell the whole story (especially for a DT) but I don't view Kelly as a significant upgrade over Easley. Come January Easley could very easily be the better player of the two.

Well first and foremost, i'm talking about last year picks too. Except for Collina, there isnt a single player being used on offense or defense.

And while Easly is being eased in, you would expect more from a 1st round pick. Like You and I said, there's plenty of time for each of them to became much more important, so this is not a point set in stone. As of now, however, they are not producing like some other rookies and sophomores around the league

You might, not me. Easley is on a fine pace and is actually ahead of where many of NE's prior first round selections were in their respective rookie seasons.

I agree with you about last year's picks. They haven't kept up their initial promise at all.

My working assumption is that the Pats will try to extend Vereen, and that he is likely to stay. Ridley may or may not be back on a 1 year low money deal. He won't have a lot of market leverage coming off of an ACL injury.
Since coming off an ACL injury seems to be a pre-requisite for being a New England Patriot these days, I have a feeling we retain Ridley.;)

Also I did not see the other heist which may pay dividends in 2015 listed: Tyler Gaffney. Thanks Gettleman, you idiot. :)

I usually don't comment on draft classes until the third year after since the jump from college to the pros is enormous for these kids, athletically and emotionally. That said, the 2014 draft looks good halfway through year #1. Garoppolo (2nd) is the best backup QB in his first year of anyone in the Belichick-Brady era, Stork, Easley, Fleming, Moore, Jonas Gray (UDFA) and White look solid for where each was drafted. Halapio (6th), Jamea Thomas (6th) and WR Gallon (7th) were the only misses.

Other off-season moves that produced returns include Wilfork re-signing, Edelman re-signing, LaFell, Browner and Revis veteran signings, Mankins for Wright and 4th rounder in combination with the Wendell re-signing, DeGuglielmo in for the retiring Scarnecchia, and unloading Ryan Mallett to go with two QBs.

Allowing Blount to leave as a free agent was one I didn't like, but we all fell in love with two huge games of production in bad weather. Let's see what Jonas Gray can do in the snow and rain behind the re-constituted offensive line before we pass judgment. Blount's value increased with Ridley's injury.

Looks like GM Bill Belichick caught up with Head Coach Bill Belichick.

Garroppolo will be the best part of the off season looking back in a couple of years.

Woodhead was pretty good in pass protection.
