Butthurt Bronc fans really go too far...

I think all Broncos fans who keep claiming that the Pats SBs are tainted because they stole signals need to read this quote from Mike Shanahan:

"Our guy keeps a pair of binoculars on their signal-callers every game," says Broncos coach Mike Shanahan. "With any luck, we have their defensive signals figured out by halftime. Sometimes, by the end of the first quarter."

So, I guess Elway really wasn't that good. He just relied on knowing what the other team's D was going to do before each play. Right Denver?

Peyton has left a lot of hurt in Indianapolis as fans were hurt by the constant playoff losses. Broncos fans are beginning to feel the hurt too. Peyton left deep wounds for Colts fans that won't heal for a long time. If Broncos fans were smart they would petition for Elway to trade Manning before he bestows upon them what he left Colts fans in his wake....pain and suffering. Manning has already opened a wound (43-8). I beg Broncos fans to step in and stop it before that wound grows wider and deeper. Save yourselves from the torment before it is too late.

Much wisdom and no small touch of sarcasm from the Shire today.

The Broncos are a strong franchise that went to five SB's and six AFCCG's in 13 seasons with Elway (we can relate to that, but the Pats' seven AFCCG's in 13 seasons and 3--2 vs. 2--3 in the SB's is a lot nicer!). Elway then quit at the top of the heap, with all his faculties intact, at the age of 38.

Some of their fans are knowledgeable, but many are dumb, immature and, now, highly frustrated.

Griese and Plummer did not compare to Elway and only got them back to one CCG. Then they flirted with Cutler and Orton and Tebow before Elway threw a Hail Mary to Manning.

It's now year three of the Elway-Manning era in Denver. Joe Flacco played and threw out of his mind and Peyton's reconstructed body fell apart on a bitter cold and windy day in his first year, but at least he had them back in the game. Then Peyton legitimately whupped the Pats in the AFCCG last year and folded in the SB.

Manning is now the same age as was Elway when he retired. That's a factoid that really shouldn't be overlooked by any of us.

Today, I think Denver fans realize that, given Manning's injury history, three seasons was probably what Elway and Peyton expected going in, with maybe a fourth. So, Sunday afternoon was a cold bath for them. And, people forget that Manning has been very fortunate to have relatively mild Denver winter weather in December and January since two seasons ago.

Bottom Line: the Party's almost over...

FYI, "Brazzzo1' is very much a Patriots fan who uses over the top sarcasm in an attempt at humor.

Those who read the PFT comments section will be very familiar with the likes of 'Logicalvoicesays' (fake Redskins fan) who come out with the most ridiculous stuff just to get a reaction (probably a Cowboys fan).

I've lurked at http://www.orangemane.com/BB/forumdisplay.php?f=6 aand found the fans there to be a mostly intelligent, agreeable bunch.

Bronco fans are now claiming it was unfair that the league office created more home games for Brady.

http://www.orangemane.com/BB/showthread.php?t=117129

I posted this below in response. Hope it gets through to them that the league is not doing this on purpose.

-------------------------
The ratio of home games between the two players has not been engineered by some sinister plot by the NFL to ensure that Brady had the advantage.

As you are aware, if you are not in the same division, you will only play each other if you are a. part of the AFC division rotation (e.g., this year, all AFCE will play all AFCW) OR b. had the same finishing position in the division. (this year, NE will play Indy and the Bengals, who also finished 1st in their divisions last year).

Regardless of whether you are meeting a team for reason a or b, the allocation of home games for non-divisional teams within the same conference follows a strict rotation. It used to be rotated every year. However, with the re-alignment of the NFL divisions (4 per conference instead of 3), the schedule makers moved the formula to each team hosting the other in 3 year stretches.

What mainly contributed to Payton playing more in NE was that he caught 2 cycles of home games in NE but only 1 cycle in Indy. Before he could get the next cycle of 3 home games in Indy, he moved in Den and smack into Den's own cycle of being hosted in NE. Note that the 3 year cycle applies even if the teams did not play in a year due to having different divisional records (e.g., Pats are 1st in AFCE and Broncos are 4th in AFCW).

The following table which lists the home games in each year will explain more.

NE's Opponents in the Regular Season:

Ind-------Den

2001 - NE---------DNP (NE)
2001 - Ind--------Den
2002 - DNP(Ind)--NE
2003 - Ind--------Den
2004 - NE---------DNP (Den)
2005 - NE---------Den
2006 - NE---------NE
2007 - Ind--------DNP (NE)
2008 - Ind--------NE----------- Brady DNP
2009 - Ind--------Den
2010 - NE---------DNP (Den)
2011 - NE---------Den---------- Manning DNP
2012 - NE---------NE------------ Manning moves to Denver
2013 - DNP(Ind)--NE
2014 - Ind---------NE

*DNP - Did not play. The location they would have played, if they had the same record the previous season, is shown in parenthesis.
*2001 - NE and Ind played twice in 2001 in the regular season as they were in the same division.

As you can see, since 2002/2003, the league has put teams on 3 year rotations. Thus, Manning ended up playing more games in NE. Assuming the teams all end up on the same positions again for the next few years, the list of hosts will look like this:

2015 - Ind Den
2016 - NE Den
2017 - NE Den
2018 - NE NE
2019 - Ind NE
2020 - Ind NE

I live in Denver and am fully enjoying the reactions.

From, "Gronk is ugly," to "Well, the Patriots are going to lose at least 2 more games because of their tough schedule and we will win out," it's clear there isn't anything specific enough that the Broncos could have done to play anything close to a competitive game. Such satisfaction seeing these fans slowly realize what we've known all along - their quarterback is a la-hoozer.

How about Channel 9 Sports leading with, "The Broncos Are STILL Gonna Win The Super Bowl!"

It's not like they weren't warned. Nick the Seal picked the Patriots to win last Thursday.

But the Post's sportswriters are beginning to sense the "whistling past the graveyard" phenomenon, especially Benjamin Hochman.

I knew last season they weren't nearly as good as they thought they were. They played a long line of tomato cans, and when midnight struck, it showed.

If the Pats had beaten Miami the way they were supposed to (!), Denver plays at the Razor, and I really don't think that would have worked out well for that team.

Well, this off-season, Elway goes out on a shopping spree to toughen the Broncs up, as well as make them better. Sitting in the visitor's box Sunday watching the manifestation of his efforts come to fruition must have given him a major case of heartburn.

They are still a good team, but you must consider a few things - for starters, John Fox, while being a solid NFL coach, is also a very conservative, "by-the-book" kind of coach. But apparently even he is having some second thoughts. We all saw how he kind of lost some faith in his kicker McManus during the game, but yesterday, when asked if the kicking game was subject to some review, he responded, "This game was on everyone, but that part of the game needs to see improvement".

I personally am rooting for the Broncos to play well enough to face the Pats in the post season, but I'm certain they are now hearing footsteps, and that is never a comfortable feeling.

I'm really looking forward to the rest of the season, and I won't feel bad at all if the Broncos trip over themselves more than a few times.

Unlikely, I know, but we can dream, can't we?

And if you're going to say the Broncos can run the table, it's even that the Pats can do the same.

From where I sit now, I really like the Patriots and their chances!

Broncos Fan Posts Most Delusional, Insane Message After Loss To Patriots | BDCwire

One even threatens to write his Congressman and complain about the Pats "cheating". o_O

Any other intelligent football fans as outraged about this as I am? I am shaking right now that’s how angry I am at this game. FIGURES this result would be in Foxboro. The place where the Patriots have a statistically impossible win-loss record and where sneaky things happen like communications going out.

IT JUST…FIGURES.

It’s obvious they knew the Broncos offensive and defensive plays before they happened. Ridiculous.

Enough is enough. I am writing my congressman right now. The cheating that is clearly and indisputably still going on in Foxboro MUST STOP. I DEMAND the league investigate and put an end to it. I DEMAND that their spygate titles be stripped NOW.

Maybe a boycott will be necessary to get our voice heard. YOU WILL LISTEN TO US NFL OR WE STOP GIVING YOU OUR MONEY! THE NE CHEATING MUST STOP AND IT MUST STOP NOW.

It goes much farther than a home game against the Broncos in November:

PATRIOTSEMPIRE.jpg

It could have been cheating. I forget, does Bill Belichick have any experience game-planning for Peyton Manning?

How about the hit on Welker was dirty? Yes, one of them thinks that:

http://forums.denverbroncos.com/showthread.php?233762-Hit-on-Welker

The good news is most of the Broncos disagreed.

And they're not even upset about the fact that he dropped a pass on his hands before he even got hit.

They'll learn - like we did - once he blows a Super Bowl for them doing that.

Don't get me wrong - I loved Welker and all he did for us - but I don't miss him one bit.

Knowing the Broncos' plays before they were run was fun, but the best part of the whole game was when Matt "Mind-Meld" Patricia willed The Forehead to throw the football to Rob Ninkovich. Manning didn't stand a chance.

C'mon people. Bronco fan here, and hopefully I have a little bit of clout here to speak for the Bronco fanbase and not seem like a homer. I'm the same guy that posted a congratulatory post yesterday for kicking our butts. Every fanbase has idiots like the one that made that post. Let's not quote that one fan and paint us in a bad light. Patriot haters are always gonna bring up things like spygate to get over the hurt. The majority of us are humbled and respective of what you guys were able to accomplish. Many of us thought our defense was battle tested and could go anywhere in any weather and create havoc. Von Miller and DeMarcus Ware were virtually non factors. I am still in shock and many Bronco fans are as well. The majority of us are not making excuses. Most of us are wondering if it was just one bad game and amazed Fox and Del Rio were significantly outcoached again. Don't let these clownish fans portray us in a similar manner. I'll give inside information and tell you guys many of us are secretely thinking wow, we were not ready for the Patriots, you killed us, but we'll see you again.

Sorry, but as dumb as Jet fans are, they don't start national petitions to have Phil Simms banned from commentary because he doesn't give them verbal back rubs to their liking, or come up with conspiracy theories about home game scheduling, or talk about how great Manning played against us because he threw for 400 yards.

Jet fans are pretty dumb, though.

There are a lot of Butthurt Manning fans out there after that spanking. I do think a lot of it though is just Patriot haters, anytime anyone loses to NE they feel like they can just dismiss it by saying "oh well they must have cheated".

I forget which chess Grandmaster whose famous quote I'm going to butcher, but here it goes: "I have never beaten a healthy opponent."
