I have heard from more than 1 source since the game is over that "yes, Manning wasn't great but his team let him down" "Manning is so humble trying to take the blame but his D failed him" And so on...

I am SO SICK of the media doing this. People who have read my post know I don't usually weigh in on the Brady/Manning debate. However I have just had enough. This is ticking me off.

Manning was not just "out dueled" by Brady. Manning drastically under preformed. He was dealt the better hand and came up short. The defenses he and Brady faced were similar in ability and Manning folded and Brady flourished. That is the truth. Now time to talk about specific talking points I hate.

#1 Manning's OL failed him - The mediots complain Manning was under too much pressure and his line let him down. Well. If you look at the Play of the OLs the nod goes to Denver. Brady was hit 8 times and Manning 1 time on 54 and 58 drop backs respectively (both were sacked once).

Brady played well under just as much pressure if not more than Manning.

#2 Manning's Defense failed him - Not true. Manning's D got pressure on the opposing QB consistently as the above post stats. Not only that Manning hurt them. Manning got intercepted on a short field that lead to 7 points in the 1st. Manning Almost intercepted by Chung but dropped on a key drive. Manning has the game equal out (the way it usually does) and intercepted on a badly thrown but catchable ball that is returned to the 10. Those 3 mistakes lead to 14 points and gave the Patriots shorts field's. If Manning does not make those mistakes he saves his team 14 points. Manning Denver's D gives up 22 (minus's Edelman's 7).

#3 Manning's STs failed him - Denver had a bad special team night no question. That was a 10 point swing (missed FG and return for a TD). That is true but even that aside the Broncos Still lose this game if the rest plays out as it did.

Final verdict. Manning's play lead the Broncos to 21 points (some of which were garbage.. if you wanna add the missed FG it be 24. However the mistakes lead to -14. Meaning overall the Manning lead O asked the Broncos to hold the Patriots to 7-10 points to win the game. You are asking too much of your D when you do that. Manning deserved to lose and underplayed.

The media will never give up on it's Sacred Cow. Never.

It's funny, I've been reading the opposite: a surprising number of articles dismissing Manning's numbers from Sunday as "junk time stats" and "fantasy football numbers" coming after he had already put his team in a deep hole.

We won. They lost. We're awesome. They suck. Brady is the best. Peyton is a choker.

Let his hold outs talk. At this point, Manning worshippers are like Japanese Imperial soldiers still living in an island bunker in 1972, living off grubs and fish for the Emperor.

It's over. They sound ridiculous, and they are.

Why does this surprise you

Oh, you're new to this, right? :)

watching tom jackson bread down what happened was priceless. you can tell that he's disappointed/confused.

Ugh. More wisdom from the Brady's-wicked-awesome-Peyton's-a-wicked-chokah crew. Manning was throwing dimes to spots on the field all day. Out of 57 passes, he had the bad overthrow of Sanders on 4th down and the pick to Ninkovich. Everything else was on the money. Please, god, give the Patriots defense some credit. It was magnificent. I believe there were at least 8 passes defensed, and scores of great tackles. Put Manning up against Jack Del Rio and Brady up against Belichick and I guarantee you, you will not have the same result. Now....by all means, go back to complaining about Mr. Forehead, the object of your collective obsession.

Why do you all continue to care about this crap?

It's annoying but it (Manning media hype) is actually is a good thing. I think all the praise got to their heads. Even to the whole Broncos team. So let's hope for some more stat compiling numbers for Manning during this regular season. That may be enough to get them all puffed up again by the time playoffs come around.

As long as we get the W, the media can keep spinning Manning like a top.
