Denver vs NE post game thread

Anyone else think Lafell suffered from not having a QB who could get him the ball regularly and also being missed used in Carolina

Basically what I said when the Pats signed him... That, in Carolina's run first defense, his having the yards he did was GOOD.. But only got ridiculed for it and told that I didn't know what I was talking about.. *shrug*

Still haven't heard from people on how their crow tastes.....

The Pats clearly had Stork in their sights, and knew where to get him, trading back a dozen picks or so. He was their guy, and he brings a toughness and physicality to the pivot that is sorely needed.
Now they just need to get Fleming healthy and add another nasty guard in next year's draft to take Connolly's place and life will be good..

- Akeem Ayers is a keeper. Can't teach speed and he's got it. - big time. Good to see Casillas shine on special teams. Did Branch get any snaps?

Branch got over a dozen snaps I believe.. Not sure of the exact numbers, but he was out there. I didn't see him and Vince on the field at the same time though..

Still don't like the 435 manning had
How many TDs did that 435 get Manning?? 3. Brady had 4 on less yardage. Why? Because it's a team game and the defense helped the Offense out with 2 short fields..

I'm not worried about the 435. Yes, we still have to face Rivers, but he's not Manning. Neither are Tannehill nor Luck. The ONLY QB who worries me is Rodgers and we have to play him in Lambeau.

Alot of whining about the Refs over on the Bronco's board. Broncos had 10 penalties for 72 yards and the Pats had 9 for 71. Not seeing much bias there.

The Broncos shouldn't be whining about the Refs.. They got away with 2 CLEAR Unsportsmanlike Conduct Penalties that should have been called. One when Burse threw the ball and hit several Pats players on the Allen's 1st Punt of the 4th QTR and then later on when one of their O-linemen kept pushing and shoving despite the official telling him to knock it off.

What you didn't see on TV was the holding Denver committed on their O line...it's disgusting what they are allowed to do that no other team can.

Overall, on a position by position basis, the Broncos are the better team. But this isn't Madden you don't win by having the highest OVR rating.

Though the Patriots have a few players I'd take over every player on the Broncos - Revis, Gronk and some other dude.

No.. They aren't the better TEAM. They might have more "talent" but that's debateable.

So, I just double checked the NFL Rulebook (.pdf version online) and it clearly states that throwing the ball at an opponent IS taunting and an Unsportsmanlike conduct penalty. Yet, in today's game and last week's game, opposing players did that and weren't flagged for it.. I don't get it..

I'd love for one of the reporters to find out about it.. As a "clarification" on the taunting rule..

That play stunned Manning. He was so sure of that pass and so shocked it was picked off like fruit off a tree. Like I posted earlier in another thread. Team win. All three phases. Broncos screwed up bad in one phase, special teams, and Edleman stuck it right up there.

I loved that Edelman TD catch. Was it the 2nd Edelman TD? Brady was looking to the side line, got pressure from the edge, stepped in, looked left real quick, and in the blink of an eye, fired the football right through a defender for a TD pass. Was a thing of freaking beauty.

Rodgers doesn't worry me because Green Bays defense is a lot worse then this Bronco defense and Brady is the GOAT in the cold hell he's the GOAT regardless

I don't think Green Bay can put up even slight resistance. This NE offense is too good and too versatile. I honestly suspect we blow Green Bay out, pulling decisively away from them in the third quarter.

Not gonna lie, that was scary good. I knew you guys matched up well with the Broncos but did not expect a whopping like that. I fear my Colts could have the same fate in two weeks. That offense seems to be clicking now similar to the 2007 one, and the secondary was impressive as well. Still think home field will be crucial for you guys. There is no guarantee they can do the same thing in Mile High. I'm afraid you would beat us in the dome. Oh well, who knows, we'll have to wait and see, anything can happen in sports, you guys know that the best. Still, this was mighty impressive, kudos to the team and Sith Lord Belichick.

warner bold prediction of broncos winning by 20...how that working out for you kurt?

Hey, somebody won by 20.

(TBH in the patsfans predict-the-score contest, I took a drubbing under the "hope I'm wrong" category... I have been taking a drubbing for a few weeks now. Like all of them actually...)

Still don't like the 435 manning had

I counted two 40 yard floaters and a couple of 25 yarders that landed in Bronco hands during garbage/prevent time (entire 4th quarter).

Take that 130 (or so) off his total and you'll get the truth

Oh cool I was hoping to debate some semantics regarding a topic we probably see mostly eye to eye on.

It was freezing cold.

Tom Brady was Awesome.

Peyton choked.

How long did I sleep on Saturday night? Is it January?

Can't wait to hear their rationale for Broncos going 0-4 on 4th down.

Random thoughts....
BUT, but they were tops in the league on 4th down...(only 1-1). Now they are last in percentages at 1-5.....(20%)

Can somebody explain to me Peyton's hurry up with 6 minutes left? It was taking 25 seconds between snaps and he was running that offense at McNabb in the Super Bowl speed.....If you need three scores (score, recover onside and hold them and get the ball back) which we've seen him do before, then you need to score quickly. That tells me the Pats were doing a good job mixing things up even late in the game......

One of the Reddit commenters may have put it best after the Chicago game. To paraphrase,
" Thanks KC for walking a sleeping giant" Another described that game as the annual, " F*#% you, we're the Patriots game" where they thrash an opponent ....

I hope that game (KC) is akin to opening day 2003 when they were whipped and went on a 17-1 run losing only on a dropped 4th down pass in week 4 to Washington...
--------------
I'm sure I'm not alone in pencilling last night's game in as an L before the season started so forgive me....
IIRC, Brady's last regular season home loss to an AFC opponent...the Jets in 2006......that's playing 6 of them a year.....

Is it schadenfreude to enjoy it when both Harbaughs lose on the same day???

3-11 on 3rd down, 0-4 on 4th...Holding Denver under 2.0 ypc rushing until that last drive with 2 minutes left.....Wow...

This game reminded me of SB 36 vs the Rams, hit them off the line and disrupt timing......

How many of Brady's ints have been deflected passes up in the air off the hands (or chests) of receivers??? I am guessing most of the recent ones .....
