Especially if we can't stop the run. They may not air it out as much, but will try to pound the rock with ronnie hillman.

Ronnie Hillman makes Shane Vereen look like a power running back. He is 2 inches shorter, and 10-15 Lbs lighter than Shane. Shane is hardly a big back at 200-205, either.

Both Vereen and Hillmans style is running wide. Neither is particularly effective, as a between the tackles runner. I welcome that, since our weakness versus the run, without Siliga and Mayo, is between the tackles.

Playing Nickle and Dime almost always helps against wide runs, since the DBs are faster.

I doubt that any team can build a run game off of a shrimp. That is why Jonas Gray was brought up. And trades for a RB were discussed.

OTOH Moreno and Ivory are great inside RBs. The Broncs last season, and Dolphins pounded us inside, with Moreno; and the Jets did the same with Ivory. So did the Chiefs with their bigger backs.

I think that speaks much more to our unfortunately piss poor (at times, mainly due to injury) rush defense than it does your placing mediocre at best RBs on some kind of pedestal like they are magical running backs.

Between all of Moreno and Ivory's combined seasons (11 total), they have ONE season where one of them went over 1,000 yards, and that was last year's attempt by Moreno when he barely made it at 1,038.

In the end, it doesn't matter when we pull out the victory--but hopefully that rush defense can get shored up a bit when we're having conversations like this about some average, run of the mill backs like they're something special.

Weather has now become a significant factor, with winds gusting up to 40 MPH a possibility. Temperatures will not rise above 40 degrees, making this the coldest day since early March.

Snow showers projected for this evening according to the GFS model.

I'd say this is going to drastically even things out in the throwing game, which puts Denver at a distinct disadvantage. Wonder if BB will elect to crowd the flat knowing the wind will affect any midrange to long passes.

1. A wind advisory is in effect for Foxborough through early Sunday evening, which could make weather conditions a big part of Sunday’s Broncos-Patriots game. A wind advisory is issued when sustained winds are forecast to be 31-to-39 miles per hour, or gusts will range between 46 and 57 miles per hour. The windiest game I’ve ever seen was the Patriots’ 2008 regular-season finale at Buffalo, when the contest was delayed at one point because the goalposts had blown over. The Patriots won that game, 13-0, and it had Bill Belichick reflecting after it on the 1986 NFC Championship Game when the Giants won the toss but elected to take the wind instead of the ball in the first quarter; they ended up getting ahead 10-0 in the opening quarter en route to a 17-0 win. Wind usually affects the kicking game first -- punter Chris Hanson was a key performer in the ’08 Patriots finale with a 46-yard punt into the wind early in the third quarter -- so for all the talk about Peyton Manning vs. Tom Bradythis very well could be more about punters Britton Colquitt (Denver) vs. Ryan Allen (New England).

Mostly cloudy, with a high near 41. Breezy, with a northwest wind 21 to 24 mph, with gusts as high as 45 mph.

This is going to be interesting...

Going to call the family in RI to see how the weather is. what are you guys reporting from Mass?

Ok they say down in southern RI it is nasty, they are 30-40 miles from Foxboro. High winds, mom said she almost got blown off her feet. Rainy right now, but she said she thinks the rain is supposed to go away. National news says maybe snow in boston?

So come on locals tell us the deal.

Even if the wind has died down a bit by game time, it should affect the Broncos more than the Pats. It is all about physics. Manning throws wobblers and Brady throws tight spirals. There is less wind resistance when a ball spirals because the nose of the ball cuts through the wind with very little wind resistance. On a wobbler, there is more surface area of the ball to get pushed by wind resistance to send it off its course. So Manning's passes can be affected by even lesser wind if a gust hits it just right.

This is why Brady can get over 300 yards and 3-4 TDs in a blizzard while Manning's record in bad weather is mediocre.

I see people saying that 15-20 MPH winds are not that much, but to change the directory of a wobbly football throw from a 15-30 yard distance, it can be more than enough. Besides, it is the gusts of wind that cause the problem because they are unpredictable and can come after Manning releases the ball.

Add the fact that Gillette for all its design flaws for crowd noise is an excellent wind tunnel and will magnify any wind that there is. The wind comes rushing in from the open end of the stadium and gets trapped by the closed ends and swirls.

I personally would rather see the Pats win in a game where people can't take credit away from them because of weather conditions, but the weather really seems to be in the Patriots' favor today.
