These teams played last year. It's not like both have completely turned over their rosters.

Manning threw for 150 yards on 36 attempts. They put up 24 points on defense at 1/3 strength in the AFCCG.

One game is an occurrence.

This is the national media's usual, every single season.

Weeks 1 through 7 - write off Patriots, call them terrible.
Weeks 8 through 12 - Call them among the best in the league.
Weeks 13 through 17 - Ask if anyone is capable of beating them.

Still they are different teams. Our defense certainly is, so is theirs.

The Broncos have an impressive run defense, which is why I think they have an edge overall. The Patriots have home field, so I'd call this game a toss up. I can't believe the Patriots are 3 point underdogs at home to any team.

The Patriots are something like 4,345,684-1 when a home dog, so I always get a big grin when I see those odds come out.

The NFL is just a week to week over reaction. I 've learned to ignore what the "experts" think and just go with what I see.
