Mark Barron is still my favourite draft prospect

#Bucs have received interest from teams in Martin, Barron and V. Jackson. Less likely to deal VJaxbecause age will prevent fair value

So this is me hoping we're a team showing an interest

although I'm sure we're not.

yeah Barron would be...ok no, forget it will never happen.

IF they are thinking running back, what about a guy like Darren McFadden. Would guess he would only cost a late round pick, manageable salary, and have always thought he has the potential to be a game changer if on a good team... And he can catch the ball out of the backfield (when he is healthy)

I could see doug martin comng here...he addresses the biggest hole and woild probably be the cheapest option in terms of what we would have to give up...

I never saw the Barron love, and thought that #7 was way too high. But given some of the other safeties taken in the 1st round, I could see him being a late round pick. It's far-fetched at best, but a secondary of Revis-Browner-McCourty-Barron with Dennard, Ryan, Arrington, Butler, Chung, Ebner and Harmon/Wilson for depth would be pretty cool.

On the plus side, given Barron's history with Nick Saban and Greg Schiano, BB probably knows as much about him as anyone in the NFL outside of TB. And Revis played with Barron for a year. So he's a relatively well-known quantity.

Here's speculation that a 2nd could get Barron, FWIW:

Again, I doubt it. But would you do it? It would limit our options for rebuilding the DL and OL in the 2015 draft.

I would be happy with either Barron or Mason Foster.

If you consider Andy Johnson's argument that the base is obsolete, and the goal is stopping the run out of the sub defense, Barron makes a fair amount of sense.

Thinking about this some more, I would consider trading a 2015 3rd, one of Harmon/Wilson, and a conditional 2016 pick for Barron. That would leave the Pats with our 1st and 2nd round picks to spend on OL and DL, and a likely 3rd round comp pick coming in addition to 2 4ths.

We could play a nickel base most of the time, with Hightower and Collins at LB and Barron, McCourty, Revis, Browner and Ryan/Arrington/Denanrd as the DBs. Barron is under contract through 2015, and has an option year for 2016.

is barron a strong safety or free safety?

I have not been overly impressed with Barron since he entered the NFL so I'm not sure I would give up anything higher than a third round pick.

How about a first and Duron Harmon and Aaron Dobson for
Mason Foster, Vincent Jackson Mark Barron and Doug Martin.
Would be a blockbuster trade and I would gladly give up a 1st and maybe another fourth for that.
It would be like going for Costco for your trades.

Names to watch at trade deadline: #Titans WR Nate Washington, CIN TE Jermaine Gresham, #Raiders DL Justin Tuck, #Rams DL Kendall Langford

If one of these guys is ours it has to be Tuck.

Of that list, I actually want Kendall Langford the most. I imagine the only reason the Rams are shopping him is because the spoil of riches they have DT. Langford is nice and tall just like Tommy Kelly and Alan Branch. He's a really good DT.

I think the tread on Tuck's tires is worn out. The only time he's looked decent is when the Raiders played us but he always seems to get up to play us.

On second thought, I agree with you, especially given Barron's contract: $3.9M cap hit this year, $4.6M in 2015. Since he was a top 10 pick, his 5th year option would be the safety transition tag, which was $7.253M in 2014. Not cheap.

It would also be totally unrealistic. Tampa's GM would deserve to get fired after that.

I'll be amazed if Belichick brings in anyone else. I'm not saying it can't happen and I'm certainly not opposed to it, it just seems so unlikely to me.

I like this. As you said a bit above maybe not for more than a third round pick, but if we could stay in nickel throughout the game without giving up too much run it would be totally worth it. I am not too familiar with Barron so I am mainly excited by the idea and not so much the player.
