Lamarr Houston tears ACL celebrating a meaningless sack

If your gonna jump up and come down hard as an NFL player, do it where it will be WORTH the injury....like right on Goondell's stupid face.

that's the Chicago bears in a nutshell....disaster

Pro tip: If you weigh 300 pounds and play a position where there is little to no jumping involved, don't do running jumps where you are likely to land at a funny angle.
Funny thing is the moron did 2 jumps, got hurt on the 2nd one

Fixed that for you. Not that I know for sure, but being weak at the knees is always quite suspect in my book.
This is a myth. The ACL has nothing to do with that person's muscles. The ACL controls alignment at the knee joint which really sounds minor until you loose it. The ACL is really a wimpy little thing. People can work out and improve muscle strength, but not ACL strength. Thus is the NFL, you have strong people running at you full speed and you trying to resist them. Not unreasonable to think one of the weakest pieces will break.

Guy is d-Bag, I dont feel one bit sorry for him, I hate play by play celebrations for doing your job, oh please please pretty please notice me and pat me on the back...frigin idiot.

I hope you both get an ACL tear. I mean wishing that on people is the new "in thing," right? Maybe if you have one, you will realize exactly what it entails. As a person that does ACL repair surgery 1-2 times a week and gets to see the overall work that person needs to put in to get back to 95-98% of their baseline, I can say you are a f****** moron.

Yes, that was a stupid thing to do for that guy, but he does not deserve this.

...I know that what he did was dumb, but I can understand trying to get your team exciting about something on a day where everything went wrong. Poor decision, with a sad result.
Agree that it was a poor decision.

Disagree in that I don't "understand" it. What Houston did wasn't just dumb, it suggests that he doesn't "get it:" it's a team game and and this is a guy who doesn't have his priorities straight when he's making a big deal of celebrating his first sack when his team is suffering an embarrassing defeat.

That said, I don't wish serious injury on anyone, no matter how mind-bogglingly Out To Lunch and dumb he might be. Karma can be a ***** and I don't want her knocking on my door.

Ok lol

Been there, done that, got the t-shirt and the sunburn to prove it.

Well guess your as bad as us now wishing it on us. Good job dude now we know what your really are. FYI I don't have a ACL in my right knee already so big f'in deal and I don't cry about it like a *****. He did it to himself so yes he does deserve it. I didn't wish it on him as you accuse us of, thank god you don't work on me, but he acted like an d-bag and hurt himself, it's all on him and in life you get what you deserve. Get over it.

Ok maybe you don't deserve this. But you just did what you chastised us for.

I hope he re-injures his ACL upon his return.

Yes, that literally makes my head explode.

Probably my biggest Grammar Nazi peeve is the misuse of "of", as in, "He should of caught that!" Holy crap does that drive me nuts!

He would of caught it if he'd been dominate! Discuss. ;)

So torn about all of this. The real person inside me says we should never be happy someone gets injured.

But dear God...that celebration late in the 4th of a humiliating blow out when you sack the 2nd string QB?

This post has peaked my interest, per say. Though I could care less if there is any duel meaning.

is there a dual meaning to your use of the phrase "duel meaning"?

If you are looking for proper use of grammar, your in the wrong place...

I guess I'd say that the punishment is out of proportion to the crime: a mere moment of acting like a clueless, self-centered doofus vs. many long months of pain and grueling rehab, with your whole career in jeopardy.

The only time injuries count as just deserts, IMO, is when a player was doing something illegal and dangerous to an opponent. Proper karma for Houston would have been something more along the lines of his pants falling down as he strutted like an idiot.

Hey they're! Their should be at least a minimum requirement.

I don't want to see anyone get hurt, but it is karma making an idiot out of himself getting his first sack of the year in meaningless garbage time after Brady absolutely embarrassed his defense for most of the game.

Especially ironic since he was doing that 'jump and fold arms' routine to show he was a bad-ass, but only ended up showing that he's a dumb-ass, now one with a torn ACL...

So embarrassing. Hope he never hears the end of it.

Do you have a view about why ACL tears are so common? Is it that the athletes are so ... er, muscularly highly developed that the rest of the body is simply overtaxed? Or does it have to do with the artificial turf?

I ski a lot so I know and see many people who have ACL (and PCL) tears. There it seems clear that the growth in ACL/PCL damage has to do with the improvement of safety bindings -- before they'd have fractured their leg. I've also noticed that lightly built women seem to be particularly susceptible, though I have no statistics to prove it.

When I saw that at the game my first thought was "stupid idiot". But, after hearing what the injury was and feeling sorry for him, I've come to think that someone who keeps up their commitment when the game is out of reach deserves to celebrate even a small amount of success.

In any case, I wish him a speedy and complete recovery.
