JE in a bit of a slump?

People should just be happy he is healthy. The kid is a gamer and I have no doubt he will ball out next week/going forward.

Kind of off topic but I noticed a thread on Edelman started earlier by a troll named Productofasystem, and it seems to be deleted.

This troll's writing style with his limp wristed insults is identical to a troll I've seen on the old ESPN Patriots board with the same schtick and a few hundred different board names ...I suspect they are one and the same. Appeared to be a Colts fan but in reality not much of a fan of the Colts, just a Peyton Manning rumpswab.

Don't be fooled by his lame attempts to make you think he's trying to talk football, he's only here to wind up the board and nothing more. Just like he did there.

Just thought you guys should know so you don't waste time responding to this clown.

Edelman always rises to the occasion. Plus, the Broncos will be focused on Gronk and LaFell leaving Minitron open to burn them

I think it's a good thing, a few weeks ago it looked like Edelman was the entire offense- now they don't even need him. Somebody will figure out how to slow down Gronk and Lafell eventually, and when they do... Edelman will show up with a dozen catches.

Killed me in fantasy today while lafell was racking up points on my bench

BB is phasing him out and readying to drop him like a bad habit come offseason. Weren't you here during the game? It was so eloquently stated in a thread now gone from this board.

Registered about two days before the Jets game. Since even the guy with the plane on his head must be bailing from that ship by now, that could explain why he's graced us with his presence.

They will have to double Gronk so should be room for some other to make plays

Yeah nothing to worry about. He had a lull mid season last year too, then exploded for 50-something balls in the last 6 weeks. Started with the Denver game actually...

He's proven himself, he'll get hot again. In the meantime it's nice to have LaFell around :)

I don't think he needs to prove anything to Brady - he still has confidence in him

But I do think Brady is purposefully looking to spread the ball more than he has in the past. In short I don't think we WANT to see Edelman having to carry the load. We don't want him double covered when the game is on the line.

A game like this for LaFell helps spread the defense in future games and helps the entire offense. I think Brady realizes now that the growing pains of early this season may have paid some good dividends for when the games count even more.

No question the O is gelling and when we talk about him..you know our O is getting very good. I just find it odd the past 2 weeks he has had some drops. He usually doesn't have an issue with this so i don't expect it to last

Agreed - no one likes to see drops but we're really nitpicking - and as Sciz pointed out they chose to cover him with their secondary talent so no surprise that looks wen't elsewhere

We're really reaching to find something to criticize in a game like this

Speaking of which - the punting game was pretty weak! Anyone who had Allen on their Fantasy Football team this week must be PISSED!

Edelman is now off the pace to earn his 500K incentive
Edelman has four different ways to earn this incentive.
1.) 1,057 receiving yards
2.) 70 receptions plus seven TDs
3.) 80 receptions plus 13 wins
4.) 80 receptions plus Super Bowl appearance

I think it is either a "rope a dope" strategy, so every team can focus on someone else...

Or
There is something going on physically, found it interesting that he was not fielding punts early on, however he did so later in the game.. but now that I think about it, that does not make that much sense as he had a huge return later in the game...

It wouldn't surprise me to find out he's been dealing with a minor injury the last couple of weeks.

I think for the stretch we are headed for, Brady/McD is getting the passing game in sync. I'm not worried about Edleman long term, but it appears that Brady now has 4 targets who are all capable of playing the short to intermediate game (with the occasional seam or stretch route).

This is going to make them hard to defend and allows Brady to do what he does best. Take what the defense is giving you. With the Oline improving and showing consistency, it will be a pick your poison. And Edleman will definitely have some big games left this season.

His punt return was a thing of beauty. He's in a mild slump on the field - happens to everyone. The important thing is that someone else steps up.

LaFell and Wright both have. Amendola is in the wings, returning kicks and ready to spell JE if he needs some rest, or whatever (and for anyone who wants to put the cheap shot in, without DA, we're 5-3, with a home loss to the JEST). And that includes PRs like yesterday, where he was okay, too, and will only get better. Lot of depth here.

Besides, it's Edelman. He'll figure it out and be back where he needs to be in short order. No quit in that dude.
