Three Days until the Trade Deadline

I don't want Lynch here. If he's having trouble getting along with Rah Rah Carroll, he'll be miserable in New England.

are you kidding? a guy who just wants to play football and not talk to reporters? BB's runningback soulmate.

Middle of the road guys are fine with me. Depending on what the plan is on defense, of course.

I don't know what the hell is going on with the rumors of Branch, but if he's not coming here then DL may be explored for a middle of the road type of guy. LB as well.

After all, we have that extra 4th rounder. As a fan, I know it's burning a hole in MY pocket due to the recent injuries, but I don't imagine that Belichick feels the same.

Well they have called.about jackson...and now are looking at a RB. So for now it only looks like O...

Dislike my post if you dislike it.
I probably shouldn't have even bothered to write than, ausie. Dislikes seem too much like a personal attack on another person's opinion. Disagrees seem less harsh, but if I disagree, then wouldn't it be more honest to simply reply and say why, than simply click a button. Too negative for me. Likes and agrees are useful since they save the time to have to post "yeah, me too". ;)

There are no consequences. If you want a good player you pay for them. Would I prefer he reworked his contract? Sure.
This is simply myopic. Of course there are consequences. Clearly you and Felger think "the cap is crap"

No, this is an irrelevant point. There is no factual basis to make the claim that there is every reason to believe he would struggle.
There are simply REAMS of facts and actual experiences of quality WR's who have had trouble adjusting to this system, even when they have had full off seasons to prepare, let alone coming here in the middle of the season and be expected to contribute within a few weeks. The only thing irrelevant here was your comment

Considerably better. Jackson is considerably better than Dobson and Tyms, our supposed outside threats.
He might be better, but to what end. Do you REALLY think that the addition of Jackson would add significantly to the Pats scoring? You are forgetting that over 90% of all passes these days are UNDER 15 yds in the air. Again, unless you are going to throw 7 or 8 passes each game to Jackson on go routes, how much better will the offe.nse be. I'd suggest it might be worse with that kind of plan.

It doesn't appear that there are impact players available on D. That doesn't mean you should stop improving your team.
Oh, I agree entirely. I have no problem with the idea that we try and add to our roster with a trade. But what I've been consistently diametrically opposed to is the concept that adding a so called #1 WR would make an offense that's averaging 39ppg the past month any better. And I certainly don't want to spend valuable cap and draft assets in adding a piece that might be sexy or exciting yet not add to the bottom line...... namely points on the board.

It seems as if a BARB is in order (best available running back). Let's be clear. Many of us thought that we should have signed an upgrade to Bolden. After the pre-season, we seemed to have very weak backups in Bolden and White. Obviously, we were fine as long as Ridley and Vereen were healthy.

Ridley is gone. Vereen was not at practice. Belichick looked into the abyss. We do indeed need some help. I don't think we expect much from White or Bolden. Gray and Vereen are fine, but a 3rd would really help.

In the end, we now have Vereen and bodies.

Martin from the buds seems possible.

As the trade deadline approaches, the Patriots are indeed looking to upgrade their offense. But not at the receiver position.

Per a league source, the Pats and coach Bill Belichick are looking for a running back.

Stevan Ridley was lost for the season with a torn ACL. Shane Vereen has filled in.

It’s unclear whether the Patriots will pull something off before the trade deadline. They have until Tuesday at 4:00 p.m. ET to make something happen.

PFT

The article didn't say who so i didn't make a thread on it

The fact that Florio is making the claim should tell you that it's not true..

Ken, a disagreement isn't something to be concerned with. People should disagree. Consensus agreements do not lead to learning and if someone has something valuable to contribute, it should be said.

If the Patriots steered clear of every position they blew an acquisition at, they wouldn't have a team.

Whilst I agree with your theme, V-Jax would be another tool for Brady in the Red Zone. I'm looking at his potential impact against very good defenses. Personally, I'd prefer Dobson developed faster but I was on board with Keenan Allen pre-draft.

I still believe Dobson can become a very good WR but geez, it's testing waiting.

Personally, my preference is to add to the Defensive Line and the Linebacker corp. My overall contention is the Patriots shouldn't stop trying to improve at other positions simply because positions of greater need aren't offering talent.

I agree with spades on Dobson, but I think he's been a victim of his injury situation. Right now he's simply too far behind to get any significant snaps. WHo is he going to replace? LaFell, Edelman. Even if he replaced Tyms on the active roster, what kind of impact is he going to make running clear out routes for Gronk Lafell and Edelman. That's what tyms does. Its going to take a WR injury to get Dobson on the field. If I wasn't worried about injuries, I'd have IR'd him already. But that doesn't mean I don't like him as a prospect.

Calling about Jackson and expressing serious interest are two different things.

This could be like the Pats asking if Jacksonville would cough up #8 for #23 and #47 back in 2009.

I hope they don't trade for Jackson. The O isn't an issue and has been on a tear. If they do trade for anyone..i hope it's a guy on D. RB too i think we are fine. But maybe more depth in case vereen gets hurt..could see that

Get it done Bill.

Don't get it done. The word from the Bucs fans is that he's dropped a ton of balls, and he isn't the best attitude guy. Not what we need right now. I'm happy with the WR we've got.

Tim Wright was in the doghouse too, wasn't he?

It seems so far if there is a weakness to this team its the front seven. Why not upgrade there if possible.

Realistically, no dire need for a WR. A bruising RB would be ideal, and beefing up our OL and DL.

Get Tuck from Oalkand. Let him heal up and play in a couple weeks.

I'm in Tampa and watch Bucs play a lot. Vjax is still an elite player but he has had some lapses this season in catching. However he is still an explosive player and a game changer. Our very own normally sure handed Minitron has had the dropsies the last few weeks, it happens. Also, his attitude might not be the best because hes on a crap team that is just flat out horrible. He's extremely competitive and even all the money he's making doesn't make up for the emotions of losing every week.

Even better. Do you think Giants will trade Jason Pierre-Paul to Patriots?

This is his contract year. 2015 he is a free agent. No signs of a contract-extension (yet).

He is 25yrs old. 6'6" and a very good edge rusher (ala Pats vs. Giants in SB).

Giants are 3-4 right now...

Pipe dream, but...

I would actually love to acquire Doug Martin if the price was really low, like a 5th rounder at the highest or maybe a player swap. I think it's more likely than not that he is a "one hit wonder" as people are saying, but at the same time, that one hit was pretty good, and he is still on a really cheap rookie contract. And even if his play doesn't improve all that much, he's probably no worse than White is right now but has a few years of experience in the league, he barely costs anything and we can easily cut ties next offseason really no worse off. Kind of like the Ayers deal: a player who was recently quite good at a position we are thin, on a rookie contract, for a low cost. Why not do it?

doubtful, but he is my #1 target in free agency next year (obviously after resigning of revis and dmac)
