The 2014 Edition : Jets continue to suck (what else is new)

Oh no!

What if the QB controversy torpedoes their playoff hopes?

It could undercut Geno's confidence!

Here are some numbers from BUF@NYJ game today:

- Geno Smith went 2/8, 5 yards, 3 INT, 0.0 QB rate. Question: which of this stats is more impressive? 5 yds on 8 attempts? More INT than completions? or a 0.0 rate?

Don't forget that the QB rating imposes floors and ceilings—you can't get below a 0.0 rating.

If you remove the ceilings and floors, here's exactly how bad Geno's day was:

COMPLETIONS: (2/8 - 0.3) * 5 = –0.25
YARDS: (5/8 - 3) * 0.25 = –0.59375
TD's: (0/8) * 20 = 0
INT's: 2.375 - (3/8 * 25) = –7

Summing all of those up, dividing by 6 and multiplying by 100 to get a QB rating, we have a scintillating

(–0.25 + –0.59375 + 0 + –7) * 100/6 = –130.8

In comparison, in the 59-0 blowout against the Titans back in 2009, Vince Young and Kerry Collins would have put up combined only about –50. So yeah, you could say Geno had a rough day at the office. :D

Gee-No has thrown 3 interceptions in the 1st quarter!

My first view of Harvin on Sunday was GeeNo! passing him the ball then Harvin falling down and GeeNo! gets picked - classic!

Re: giving the ball to the defense ...

The NFL should seriously consider changing the nomenclature to "Genovers."

Hey, the Green Beans wore their green bean uniforms today -- green jerseys, green pants. Matched the look of Wrecks' face and color of the fans' effluent.

Fireman Ed is probably going to show up a abuse victims anonymous next week and when it's time to share will probably very proudly stand up and talk about how he stood up to those that had hurt him, and how he's now watching them fall apart without him.

Happy trails

jets have already played 5 games at home...and are 1-4....bunch of losers

Bet they are glad they got harvin for that playoff push

And that one win was in the season opener against the Raiders. Rookie QB making his first start on a west coast team traveling to NY. Play that game now and the Jets probably find a way to lose.

Edit to add: Yes, the Patriots also faced the Raiders at home and won by "only" 7. The difference is that victory can be looked at with some questions and disappointment, wondering why the Patriots didn't win in more convincing fashion. For the Jets, a 5 point win over the Raiders is the highlight of their season.

I just finished reading the novel Gone Girl yesterday. I don't know if anyone else here has read it or seen the film, but I wish Geno had stayed to watch that movie, because he would probably still be there now trying to comprehend it.

It was a pretty complex book. If he couldn't even figure out what time it was, that movie plot would have likely occupied his 4 or 5 brain cells for the remainder of the regular season.

Even Albert Einstein can't figure out the plan for the Jets in this "trick" play.

But seriously

7 turnovers is the entire story

Geno didn't make his reads, didn't execute the throws he needed to make.

They probably tried too hard to get Harvin into the offense, and that set them back.

I still think the team can make a run, but it's probably too late for anything meaningful this year.

I think they should ride with Geno to find out in the last 8 games if he will be part of the future or if they need to draft a QB this off-season. Though, I could see them turning to Vick for the Chiefs game next week to give Geno some mental reps and a break.

It's a tricky proposition, they probably go with Vick until they lose again, then go back to Geno, and that is if they don't go back to Geno next week.

Harvin is going to be a stud, love the addition, for whoever the QB is in the future.

Harvin is GOING TO BE a stud. Heh....is that like "you MAY be a winner"? Of course, movie going Geee No needs some "mental reps" and "a break". Might be a good time to invest in some movie theater stock down there in Joisey.

Wait! Rah! Rah! didn't say the Jets have the rest of the league exactly where they want them and they will win their last 8 games and win the Super Bowl? He is slipping.

yeah...even Homer Homer is a bit less enthusiastic today...hard to believe...but wait until Wrecks gets axed...THAT is when the ol' Ray Ray 19 bus rolls into town and you KNOW who's getting thrown under it with his toes sticking out...

I don't. I want them to lose every game they play with this fat blowhard, toesucking, disgrace as their HC. Screw that fat turd to green sewer hell for all eternity.

Please tell us how you really feel.

Idzik-Expected-to-Give-State-of-the-Team-Address-Tomorrow

This should be fun.

JIForum think: http://www.jetsinsider.com/forums/threads/268804-Idzik-Expected-to-Give-State-of-the-Team-Address-Tomorrow
OK, what the hell is this supposed to mean? Why would a GM ever give a "state-of-the-team" address in mid-season when the team has lost seven straight games? Firing Wrecks now won't accomplish anything, since his defense is the only occasional bright spot.

Maybe Idzik will announce his resignation. THAT would make sense.

I read in that JI thread that this press conference has apparently been scheduled since before the season started. Doesn't mean Idzik won't do something interesting, but it appears it isn't exactly the impromptu termination announcement we all thought it might be.

That will make it even MORE entertaining.

Idzik: "Well, this isn't the result we anticipated midway through the season."
Media: "What are you going to do about it?"
Idzik: "We signed Harvin. That should show you something."
Media: "But ... But aren't you going to FIRE somebody?"
Idzik: "No, that would only make us worse."
Media: "How is that possible?"
Idzik: "Look, I know you media guys like to freeload. We've catered this event with a savory selection of goddamn snacks. Press conference is over. Dig in."
