Three Days until the Trade Deadline

Get it done Bill.
I didn't give you a disagree ausie, because disagree doesn't come close to reflecting the idiocy of all those clamoring for Vincent Jackson. But instead of getting angry, let me try and enumerate for you and the others WHY trading for Vincent Jackson is such idiocy.

1. The consequences of his contract, both THIS year and next

2. The fact he's played his entire career in systems that are much different that what he'd have here, so unless your plan is to have him run 9 routes and hope he comes down with the ball, there is NO reason to think he'd be successful here with no preparation. In fact there is every reason to believe he'd struggle.

3. Finally the most important reason. How much better would Vincent Jackson make the offense. Unless you think that offenses that don't average 40 points a game suck, or who occasionally punt the ball suck; the CURRENT Pats offense is doing fine lately. So without truly integrating Tim Wright and re-integrating the resurgent Danny Amendola yet, the CURRENT offense is averaging 39 ppg over the last 3 weeks. So I have to ask the question, How many MORE points will Vincent Jackson mean to the Pats, even if you were CERTAIN he'd fit the system.

I think any trade needs to be on the defensive side of the ball, with a pass rusher or LB being the 2 major needs. The trouble is teams NEVER have enough pass rushers and they are so rare, no one is going to let one go. The only name I've heard thus far that is even REMOTELY possible is Justin Tuck

As the trade deadline approaches, the Patriots are indeed looking to upgrade their offense. But not at the receiver position.

Per a league source, the Pats and coach Bill Belichick are looking for a running back.

Stevan Ridley was lost for the season with a torn ACL. Shane Vereen has filled in.

It’s unclear whether the Patriots will pull something off before the trade deadline. They have until Tuesday at 4:00 p.m. ET to make something happen.

PFT

The article didn't say who so i didn't make a thread on it

Justin Tuck - modest cap hit ($2.5m), can probably be had from the winless Raiders for a late pick. Only question is whether his knee is ok. He's questionable this week against the Browns.

And, yes, he can rush the passer.
Oo I love that idea.

Kraft is cheap, he won't do it. This team outright refuses to just go over the cap and pay the luxury tax! Unbelievable!

EDIT: I thought everyone would understand this was a joke, already got a dislike :( whoops. I guess there are too many losers who seriously feel this way about Kraft around here to tell the difference.

@ESPNNFL: Per @MortReport, the @Seahawks have grown tired of Marshawn Lynch's ways and he's not expected to return next season.

Dislike my post if you dislike it.

There are no consequences. If you want a good player you pay for them. Would I prefer he reworked his contract? Sure.

2. The fact he's played his entire career in systems that are much different that what he'd have here, so unless your plan is to have him run 9 routes and hope he comes down with the ball, there is NO reason to think he'd be successful here with no preparation. No, this is an irrelevant point. There is no factual basis to make the claim that there is every reason to believe he would struggle.

3. Finally the most important reason. How much better would Vincent Jackson make the offense. Unless you think that offenses that don't average 40 points a game suck, or who occasionally punt the ball suck; the CURRENT Pats offense is doing fine lately. Considerably better. Jackson is considerably better than Dobson and Tyms, our supposed outside threats.

It doesn't appear that there are impact players available on D. That doesn't mean you should stop improving your team.

that team has completely fallen apart. couldn't handle being the hunted.
send the hawks a 5th for lynch.

@AdamSchefter: While WR Vincent Jackson’s name has been focus of trade speculation, the Buccaneer more likely to be dealt is RB Doug Martin. Teams calling.

Adam Schefter's facebook post:

With linebacker Aldon Smith poised to return to the roster as early as this week, with defensive tackle Glenn Dorsey eligible to come off the injured-reserve designated-to-return list in two weeks, with linebacker NaVorro Bowman poised to return in late November, and running back Marcus Lattimore potentially returning from the NFI list, the 49ers need roster space they simply do not have. It is why, come Tuesday’s trade deadline, the 49ers will be interested in dealing a defensive player or two on the back end of their roster to get back a late-round pick and, more important, a roster spot or two. As it is, the 49ers simply don’t have space for the infusion of talent they’ll be receiving in the next month and they need to somehow try to create it in the most productive way possible. Tuesday’s trade deadline could be just the chance.

Today:
Per a league source close to Pro Football Talk’s Mike Florio, the Patriots are unsurprisingly looking to swing a deal for a running back at the trade deadline this year, and it will be interesting to see if any big-name players emerge as potential trade targets. As we’ve seen with the Aqib Talib trade two years ago and the Logan Mankins deal this offseason (as well as numerous big trades in the past involving the likes of Randy Moss and Wes Welker), Bill Belichick is always willing to open up “Trader Bill’s”

Seahawks running back Marshawn Lynch's days could be numbered in Seattle, according to Ian Rapoport of the NFL Network on Sunday.

Lynch was unhappy with the team after trading Percy Harvin to the Jets and has a "tense relationship" with "very little-to-no communication" with coach Pete Carroll and general manager John Schneider. Rapoport added that he wouldn't be surprised if the team drafted a running back to replace the 28-year-old back next season.

Lynch has back-to-back seasons of 300-plus carries and is on pace for roughly 259 carries through six games this season. He is expected to earn approximately $5 million in 2015 before becoming a free agent in 2016.

IMO - Reasons why it would be a good trade:
- Pete Carroll, ex-Patriot coach
- trading out of NFC
- $$$ is within reasonable bounds in Krafts checkbook (2015 as well)
- Patriots get a beast of a RB.
- Marshawn can see his buddy, Percy, 2x a year

This sounds more reasonable than VJax.

I don't want Lynch here. If he's having trouble getting along with Rah Rah Carroll, he'll be miserable in New England.

Lynch at RB for us would be huge. Although re-signing Blount would've been much wiser and cost effective.

I was watching highlights from the playoff game against the Colts back in 2004-2005 where Payton was coming off a huge season - yet we limited them to just 3 points. Huge part of that was because of our offense, with Corey Dillon racking up 144 yards rushing as he helped us sustain super long drives.

Wasn't Lynch a malcontent in Buffalo?? He refused to attend practice. He seems like the kind of guy that would clash with BB....

Do not see Lynch coming here...

But then again, "Mike Florio says".. does not mean all that much.

Eveyone said that about Randy Moss.

in 2010, when he was a Bill.

Patriots coach Bill Belichick called Lynch "pound for pound one of the strongest players in the league with good balance."

"Lynch really can play on all downs and all situations," Belichick said at his Wednesday news conference. "I don't really see anything he can't do and do well -- run inside, run outside, runs around and through tacklers, catches the ball well.

"Lynch is a powerful guy. You see him breaking tackles by defensive linemen, running through them, not just [defensive backs]. He runs through a lot of tackles on everybody. Pound for pound he's got to be one of the strongest players in the league with good balance."

Just imagining seeing that happen in a Pats uniform.
