Our corner matchups vs. Denver WR's

Yep. Stick him on Demaryius, let Browner beat the hell out of him within 5 yards, and give him McCourty up to. Let Revis shut down Sanders and then force Julius Thomas and a gimpy Welker to beat you. Money.
It's a bold move Cotton, perhaps wins you a game you otherwise wouldn't. I wonder if that stats is because wide outs shorter than 6ft are typically faster. Either way, better not sit back like the niners did.

Sanders can go vertical as well as Thomas. I'd put Revis on Sanders, Browner on Thomas. Arrington on Welker. With a faster LBs out on the field. This would rely on a stout DL to minimize the run.

Perhaps Logan Ryan would do okay on Sanders too if needed..He played well vs donkeys last year if I remember correctly.

What were the coverages in last year's regular season game, was Dennard on Decker? IIRC Decker did nothing that game. And what'd they do with Julius?

Dennard's been a major disappointment this year, needs to step up or if he's banged up sit him and try your luck with Ryan. I like Revis on DThomas and Browner on JThomas, with DMC helping whoever out on Sanders. Problem is you still need pressure on forehead no matter how well the secondary does.

Yet another Denver thread?!?

They beat up on crap teams and it sends this board into a panic. At least this is actual football talk. It beats "I don't care, I can't stand it!"

The only positive about all these threads this week is that I finally know what it is like to be a Jets fan and have your fellow fan base be totally obsessed and have Richard envy for another team you hate.

J Thomas didn't play in the first game. I don't think he killed us in the playoffs.

I'd put Dennard on Welker first and let Dennard beat him up at the LOS. If Dennard can't handle Welker, stick Arrington on him.

Ahhh I remember now, thanks. One of the possible reasons Julius didn't go off in the playoff game could have been all the other mismatches Manning had to choose from in that game. Once Talib went down and Dennard playing banged up DThomas went off. If Manning sees the others matched up well and a mismatch with JThomas he'll hurt us bigtime.

Revis can shut down anyone..did today. (why we need to sign him long term..another topic)

He can shut down 1 guy and put browner on JT and Dennard on Sanders. I like our chances there. Just have to still find a pass rush

Are we all in agreement now that Browner should be on Demaryius with McCourty assisting up top? I think he can handle it.

Count me as someone who thinks Dennard/Ryan can do a passable job on Sanders. Revis takes out Demaryius, Browner on J Thomas, Arrington on Welker (for some reason Arrington always plays him well).

Make Sanders beat us and you can expect a few crucial turnovers, b/c he has a tendency to make a few mental mistakes per game.

Revis on D Thomas - Revis is physical enough to handle D Thomas' size and fast enough to keep up with him down the field

Browner on J Thomas - Browner is big enough to deal with Julius' size. And Julius isn't fast enough to run away from Browner. Browner is a penalty waiting to happen once he's past the 5 yard contact area when he's covering a receiver faster than him

Arrington on Welker - Welker isn't as fast/quick as he used to be and mainly operates in the middle. Arrington plays best in the middle of the field and should be used to covering Welker. This seems like a no-brainer.

Dennard/Ryan on Sanders - This is the toughest matchup IMO. Sanders is fast and has great timing with Manning. Dennard/Ryan should press him and have McCourty shade on top wherever this matchup is.

I understand that sanders is having a great year. But as far as talent goes, D. THomas/J. Thomas are the better receivers.

Revis - D. THomas
Browner - J. Thomas
dennard/ryan - E. Sanders
arrington - welker

The Patriots won't do the same thing all game. They will mix it up among different man assignments and various zone coverages. You can't give manning the same thing every time if you want to win. If he knows it's man you can bet a pick play is coming. Have to play some zone

Hopefully they don't run any of those dirty pick plays like last year and injure our guys
