Chandler Jones season in jeopardy

Kelly came back to 1 practice and then was out for year...jones didn't come to a practice. But I hope it wasn't an issue in past weeks and got worse in jets game.

i doubt it's dislocated though, no way jones would be able to play.

We are not cursed .The patriots are simply badly managed personnel wise.During the off-season everyone knew how lucky we were last season not to have any of our DE's get injured while playing so much. How many people commented how badly we needed a quality DE in the off-season , and yet for some inexplicable reason nothing was done.

yup, no depth at the position. we had the funds but belichick is too arrogant to sign a decent pass rusher instead he opts for old players like will smith...who was cut anyway.

I thought pittas was a tear but it wasn't.

Safe to say him and Revis were the 2 guys we couldn't lose this year?

Who would you have wanted? Jared Allen for that $$? Peppers for that $$?

There might be, though. See trade deadline thread, but Jared Allen is getting playing time reduced, rumored to be unhappy and the draft pick that had been injured has 7 sacks this year. Big contract, small production (1.5 sacks) on a team maybe going nowhere.

Ndamakung suh is also going to be a FA after this season....

I recall the discussions here.

Belichick did not want to spend serious money for a backup DE, especially after drafting Easley. Belichick also did want to spend serious money on a backup LB. So we went into the season with following depth
DE: Buchanan and Moore
LB: none except the Practice Squad rotation of Fleming and Skinner

Since sometimes players overlap at DE and OLB, this was a dangerous risk to take, as most of us said at the time. If Belichick wanted to take the JAG route for these two roster spots, I guess the issue was that he chose poorly. None of his choices made the team.

You mean like Akeem ayers? Guys like him are never available....[
Players are always available, but good one's are not.Do you think we got Ayers for a late round pick out of the goodness of Tennessee's heart. We got him because he is a jag.

As long as he is good to go in the playoffs...

We got to make the playoffs first. We got 5-6 games in a row with QB's that can carve us up. Jones being out made winning those games alot harder.

We are in a division where 9 wins will likely be enough to get to the playoffs.

BTW, I don't understand why Cutler should carve us up. We have a great defensive backfield.

Ayers is a JAG

No, ayers is a player with talent that did not fit tennessee's scheme. He was also buried in their depth chart behind 3 very good LBs.

I haven't been following the bears that much....but I haven't heard his name once since in Chicago

maybe they'll use easley on the outside?? i don't know. with wilfork/vellano/branch inside. as long as branch is signed. bills fans think he's a good player, that will help out our run defense issues.

We're snake bit, just like last year.

I blame everything on Aaron Hernandez.

Let the Zach Moore era begin!!

Yup.

We drafted a 4-3 DE who is now healthy. This team is able to play the 4-3. The time has come.

Ninkovich, Wilfork, Jones/Walker, Easley
Collins, Hightower, Ayers/Skinner
Revis, Browner, McCourty, Chung

That's all that we have, other than Moore and the possibility of adding Branch. Chung also provides run support. Wilson and Harmon provide coverage support in passing situations. Dennard, Arrington and Ryan come in as needed in nickel and dime situations.
========
We'll see where we are in a week. I expect couple of defensive additions, with the loss of a special teamer (plus Barker).
We drafted a 4-3 3 tech DT in Easley. He can play all over the line. But he is more of a 3-tech player than he is end.

Out for the regular season? We've had no luck when it comes to injuries in the last 2 years. It's really starting to piss me off!
