Broncos-Chargers

The broncos are simply more proactive with their priority signing in the offseason than the patriots and it is showing (it wouldn't surprise me if they snatch Revis at the end of the season) they simply want to win more than we do right now. The defenses in the AFC are simply a joke, including ours.

If they come out on top next week they may as well start preparing for the Superbowl. We can't afford any injury this week against the bear, although i wouldn't mind of losing Sunday -- we play better when we have a cheap in our shoulder and facing the broncos coming of a loss is the perfect scenario, i can already imagine the media writing off the pats. But i don't care if we lose, the question all pats fan should me concern with is how healthy we will be in the playoffs or can we get hot at the right time? Denver could go 15-1 but that first home playoff game if when they'll be vulnerable, if you look at Manning's track record.

Everyone things you have to pressure Manning a lot to beat him. You beat him by throwing off the timing patterns of their receivers. The Chargers did a good job of it last night until they lost Verrett and were forced to start two back up CBs. Verrett was doing a good job bumping his guy off the route. After he went out, the lesser CBs got burnt doing it (badly in one case for an easy TD) so they went to more off coverages where Manning thrives. The Chargers were throwing off the passing game of the Broncos early without pressuring Manning all that much. That is what the Pats have to do.

I think that Revis, Browner, Dennard, and Arrington will be playing a lot of bump and run next Sunday. I would key in on the two Thomases and Sanders. Welker is an after thought at this point. This is the type of game why the brought in Revis and Browner.

I won't even mind if Browner or Dennard get a few holding calls beating up the Broncos receivers on the line. That is the way to beat them and I would gladly take a 5 yard penalty than a 30 yard reception.

D Thomas last year after the AFC championship pretty much admitted that Talib going down was a sigh of relief for him. I think an aggressive CB on DT really gets to him mentally. DT is Manning #1 target, but the wild card is Julius Thomas. Taking both Thomas's out of the game, and stopping the run will be huge.

No way are they going after Revis when they have two key free agents this coming offseason (both Thomases) plus Von Miller to re-sign.

And the Pats have a pretty good pass defense. Their run defense sucks right now, but they are good vs. the pass.

It remains to be seen how good the pass defense is. We have not faced an elite offense yet - we are about to find out really quickly. Also, not having chandler jones to apply pressure is going to hurt the pass D to a certain extent.

I'm having trouble reconciling these two statements.

And there's this guy named emmanuel sanders who had 3 TDs last night...

I think Revis needs to be on Sanders next week and Browner needs to be on Demaryius with help over the top. Manning is looking Sanders' way much more than Demaryius this year. Take Sanders out of the game, double Demaryius and let Dennard physically get his hands on Welker at the LoS and we should be able to contain them.

2014 stats

Brandon LaFell + Danny Amendola combined:
337 yards
24 receptions

Emmanuel Sanders:
603 yards
43 receptions
Sanders would have been a monster in this offense. Oh well. That's life.

I think the best match ups are as follows:

Revis - D. Thomas
Dennard - Sanders
Browner - J. Thomas

You need to play press man with D. Thomas and Revis is the best at it. Dennard usually does well against the smaller faster guys. Browner is big enough to bump J Thomas on the line.

That leaves collins on julius thomas, which is a mismatch. I agree with revis on sanders.

Both Thomas and Sanders each have 47 catches. Thomas was targeted 16 more times than Sanders. What you are saying isn't true.

They said the same thing last November. Manning then proceeded to throw for 150 yards.

Considering Denver's performance against Seattle, you should really expand your "remains to be seen" question portfolio.

So who matches up with Sanders on this defense? You're more than welcome to point out another speed corner that we have outside of Revis.

Look at my previous post. Dennard does well against Sanders type of receivers. Browner vs. D. Thomas is conceding a 100 yard game to him. Browner should be on Thomas, but Julius Thomas.

what if i told you that the 2014 patriots are not in fact the 2013 Seattle seahawks?

That's because bill decided to give up 200 yards rushing to them in order to keep the ball out of manning' hands as much as possible.

When did the patriots play Seattle?

The biggest thing about this game is that the Broncos have an advantage on the line of scrimmage on both sides of the ball. I think the offense is going to have a really hard time running the ball which will allow Denver's pass rush to get all over Brady. On the other side the Pats have sucked against the run when in nickle and I have to assume they'll be predominantly staying in that defense given the opponent and the injuries.

On the upside the advanced forecast shows winds gusting to 30.

Maybe let LaFell run a Welkereque pick on Talib since he's so good at it.
