BB: Revis Sent Home Lateness?

So Asomugha first gives so-so effort on the field ( I don't care yet about performance, give him more games, but he looks like he is jogging every play) and now its an issue off the field.

Meh, he is a jest after all . So bad he dont has the same mindset as Woodhead.
I can't tell if you need to drink less or drink more.

I can't remember a time that any other player has been sent home for being late. Does this actually happen? Was he told to go home once he showed up at the facility or was it while he was still home? With 53 players plus a practice squad, I imagine someone is late on occasion. Traffic is not always predictable and mistakes happen. I know there are a number of sources saying this story is true, but as usual they are all unnamed (at least last I heard). I'm just having a hard time completely buying into this simply because I've never heard of it happening before. But then, its hard to believe the press on anything.

He never made it to the stadium. He slept late. He came in contact with the team via phone and was told to not come in. He later went to stadium, after the other players left from practice, to meet with BB to apologize. He was back at practice on Wednesday.

According to Zolak, his sources said that Revis was absolutely embarrassed and sick about letting his team down and he was really contrite about the whole situation. Unlike Adalius Thomas, he is taking personal responsibility and not acting like an arse about it.

I think this story is being overblown. Revis screwed up. He was punished. He took his punishment like a man and owned up for it. The team is moving on.

Seems like Revis asked his agent to remove the Tweets that where trying to defend Revis against the media reports. If so, that shows that he actually takes responsibility for what he did, instead of trying to avoid it. Certianly better than Spikes who was late and decided to tweet a picture.

This NON-story will unfortunately be what all the mediots will be talking about the rest of the week. In the end it's just a case of a cause and effect rule that's been with the Pats since 2000. And I don't doubt its been broken more often than its been reported over the 14 years BB's been HC. BUT, this was Revis who overslept and missed a 7:30 AM meeting and suddenly its the biggest story to hit the New England since the "Ebola crisis"

(OT interruption alert! - Despite the constant bombardment of Ebola stories, TWICE as many Americans have married Larry King, than have come down with Ebola. Sorry about this inappropriate, yet accurate, OT addition. I heard this factoid the other day and have been dying to use it. This could be my only chance ;) )

Bottom line, I look on this as a positive. You never want ty have anyone be late, but it happens now and again. A good message was sent not only to Revis, but to the rest of the team. Also you can't help but like the way Revis responded.

This isn't Adalieus Thomas whining like a baby when he got sent home, or Brandon Spikes sending twitter pictures of his snowed in car. People forget that when BB sent home "the snow day guys", there were about 58 other Pats players who had the same circumstances to overcome, and made it in on time.

This is just a small example of why the Pats have been so consistently good over the years. It's a small detail that BB DOESN'T pay lip service to. One small detail among many. The other thing you have to love about this organization will be the fact that BB will treat this totally as an in house issue that occurred and has now passed. I doubt very much if BB will deign to respond to the questions he's likely to get other than to say "He was late. I sent him home. Next question". The irony here will be that the mediots will make BB's non-responsiveness into a negative story. And you wonder why BB refuses to play their game for those self-important, "its all about me" pukes.

I made the mistake of clicking on a link to a segment on CSNNE with Ben Volin, Michael Felger, and Michael Holley. Of course Felger is making this a huge deal that will likely end the Pats and Revis relationship in a messy divorce that will sink the team. He asked Volin if it was a padded practice and Volin said that yesterday's was, but the day he missed wasn't. Felger responded, "He missed a padded practice! That is huge because you only get so many of them each year." He also said it put the Pats in a bad situation on Sunday because Revis missed a day of practice for the Bears game ignoring the fact that Tuesday was an extra day of practice that the Pats wouldn't have had in a normal week.

He argue that it is a huge deal because the Pats sent him home (which seems to be wrong since he never came in) and it got out in public and if it wasn't a big deal they wouldn't have been sent home and Revis would have said it was a maintenance day or something.

This just shows how the media is manufacturing controversy.

What a douche. I'm sure he'll bang that drum hard today. Although that is typical of him to drive something false as fact.

This is SOOOOOO true, Rob. I only wish there was a "sadly I agree" option. You know the Tuesday practice that Revis missed was just the kind BB often allows older vets to miss as a SOP over the years.

Also Felger's stupidity in continuing to blather on about Revis missing a "padded practice", DESPITE being told it wasn't, just shows how much of a media whore he's become. You can almost picture Micheal Holley rolling his eyes and shaking his head. ;)

BTW- I'd be interested to know 2 more things. One, did any of his "other" panel member bother to point out his idiocy, and two, are you taking some sort of pill or medicinal regimen that allows you to listen to that crap more than 2 minutes at a time. :D

Seymour missed Thursday's practice and when he showed up Friday after the practice he was told he wasn't starting. He then came in on 3rd down about 6 minutes into the second quarter. He was clearly benched for that period of time.

I was at the game, I remember it well.. he missed the first 13 plays of that game. No one player is bigger than the team...

If BB is not consistent with Seymour/Revis he cannot be consistent with the 53rd man...

I see the point you're making. But these situations were different. Seymour spoke to BB before leaving for South Carolina for his grandfather's funeral and believed they had an understanding. Seymour was shocked when he found out he wouldn't be starting. And Larry Izzo had to leave the team and miss a Friday practice that same year (10/24/03) for the death of his father in Houston. He got a game ball that Sunday against CLE.

Regardless, I don't think this Revis thing is a big deal. I'm sure he'll be out there on Sunday doing his best against a great WR.

Volin did corrected him about it not being padded practice and Felger just kinda dropped the subject. Kinda admitted he was wrong, but not really.

Here is the link to the segment. Click on it if you dare:

Revis recap, per source, for those who missed it: Overslept, was told to stay home for disciplinary reasons rather than show up/go home...
...Revis obliged, owned mistake, was completely accountable, asked to meet w/Belichick Tues. afternoon to apologize. Done deal, moved on.
Once again, the discipline is expected to end there, which is S.O.P. for Belichick and won't impact Sunday's playing time.

Well looks like 98.5 doesn't care about what actually happened. Just now on their sports update they reported it that he showed up and was sent home. Which technically wasn't the case at all. But I guess showing up and being sent home is a more juicy take than what really happened.

Oops! Just turned on my radio which I had on to 98.5 for Gresh and Zo to hear Felger and Mazz now floating the conspiracy theory that the current story about Revis sleeping in and apologizing to Belichick and feeling bad about it is a planted story by the Pats and is wrapped up too easy and feel there is so much more behind it.

As a long time defender of Felger, I am done. He has turned into a hack. The sad thing is that the guy actually knows football and could actually be entertaining if he stopped his trolling of Patriots fans.

Revis not bein late on a Cutler pass for a Pick 6 would be fitting.

If Revis signs a new contract with the Pats, I hope it will pay him enough to buy a quality alarm clock.

Not sure if this is an issue with BB or not but, overslept? I mean how hard is it to set an alarm to wake up and arrive on time? Revis should be embarrassed.

New alarm clock, volume had a separate knob.
