Report: Patriots are one of top two candidates to land Ray Rice

When you look at the original piece that La Canfora wrote, he simply asked the question. It was an afterthought to an article about the possibility that Ray Rice may be reinstated. La Canfora made virtually no supporting case for Rice to end up with either team. This is yet another example of one site re-reporting another site's column, and an opinion - or in this case not even an opinion, just a question - gets repeated as fact.

How Ray Rice could be reinstated to the NFL within a month

If he is, would a team like the Colts, coached by former Ravens assistant Chuck Pagano who thinks highly of Rice, or New England, where Bill Belichick has very strong ties to Rice's college coach, Greg Schiano, take a chance on Rice if they need a running back down the stretch?

Are you guys saying he doesn't deserve a second chance as an NFL player? If he deserves a second chance then what stops the Pats from signing him? I believe he committed a crime that is forgivable.

The point is, even giving the guy a workout, regardless if they were going to sign him or not, was already completely inappropriate giving he is a convicted rapist.

No man that commits that crime should ever be allowed to earn a living the best he can, apparently. I guess that means we condone what he did, though. Perhaps someone can explain that logic, or lack thereof, at some point.

I dont agree simply because I have 100% faith the Patriots would never have signed this guy and because of that faith (blind or not) I don't have a problem with whatever information it is that Belichick thought he needed from giving him a workout.

Yep, it would be as crazy as bringing in a guy like Randy Moss, or Albert Haynesworth, and we know that would never happen. It would just cause a mass exodus of fans, just like all the Ravens fans stopped cheering for Baltimore when Rice wasn't cut immediately.

Actually, I don't think you would be one of the people I was referring to. I think you would still hate the move. Homers are the people that would find a way to "look at the bright side" of the move even after they previously **** on it.

As for me, I don't condone a man for hitting a woman but I also don't begrudge a man of his right to earn a living as best as he can. If Rice is cleared, both by the league and the court, he should be allowed to play again. But this is a moot point because, as has been mentioned before, I have a better chance of banging Kate Middleton than Rice does of playing a single down for the Patriots.
