Those decisions resulted in a win. I am firmly of the viewpoint that the coaches of this team without question have more information about the opponent, their own players, the matchups, etc to make that decision better than I do, and if we had the same amount of data, they would also be better equipped to make the right decision with it.
So, I get that a bunch of people like to Monday morning QB and say their way is better, but when they win the game, there is not a single thing they could have done differently that would have produced a better result. Their job is to win the game, not to win it in any specific way, and their job is that the multiitude of interrelated decisions that they make add up to a win. No more, no less.

You can feel free to think that you know better. It is in fact true that with less knowledge and data, you could still guess your way to a better decision sometimes (broken clock is right twice a day) but even if you made 100% correct decisions on everything related to this game, we still can only win once.

As far as running the ball at the end, if they threw an incomplete pass, they would have lost the game. It was absolutely the right decision, and of course, it worked.

How did it "work" when the crucial play was a blocked FG, which is not only very rare but happened on the other side of the ball? The fact that they won isn't proof of a good decision, and if your criteria is based on how well they achieved the objective I don't know how it can be considered anything other than a fail: they gave the ball back to the opposition with plenty of time.

Also, why would they have lost with 1 incomplete pass? They still have other downs to work with and if they converted a 1st everything would have been fine.

The fact is that when teams try to run those obvious running formations they usually fail, any military expert will tell you that the 'element of surprise' is probably THE most crucial element, and when you broadcast your intention like that you make it a lot easier to stop, which is why teams routinely stuff the run in those situations.

How many snaps did wright play?

Jes' sayin' to all those folks leaning on the ol "Well, it was a 3 day rest Thursday night game against a divisional team, it's always going to be close....."

Denver 35 - SD 21.

The implied statement is actually, "it is more likely to be close" which I might still contest, but it doesn't seem that ridiculous. The fact that SD beat Denver on a Thursday last year supports this, as does Denver needing +10 on officiating error to win a 14 point game.

The officials changed that game last night.

Just watched the Jets game (was out of town).

1. Pats run defense needs to seriously tighten up - come on, Alan Branch, be good again!

2. That said, I threw up in my mouth a little bit when the Jets got Chris Ivory. The guy is Lynch 2.0. A truly violent runner. Wish we had him.

3. Julian Edelman had an awful game with a couple of huge drops. His play has tailed a bit, but that's okay as others have picked it up. Defenses adjust, good offenses adjust the other way.

4. Amendola had a great game - love him KR'ing. He needs to get more involved in the offense and maybe that great catch to win this one will help get him and Brady back where they were before it all went to ****.

5. The Jets might be the best 1-6 team I've ever seen, which makes me laugh even harder.

6. Did they really call that penalty on LaFell on the Amendola catch inside the 10? After watching Denver last night, if that's a penalty, their entire offense should be in jail.

7. Glad Stork and Connolly will be back. The OL played pretty well, considering, but there was no push on the running game at all.

8. That was really a HUGE win - the kind you need to get into the tournament. As ugly as it looked, that's all that matters. Every time we play the Jets lately, it comes down to a late field goal.

Also, it's less about it just being a Thursday and a division game, but the fact that our run defense struggled mightily on the heels of losing their defensive captain (and one of their top run defenders), with only three days to coach up an alternative gameplan.

Just to put a bow on what @KontradictioN and I have been posting, regarding the Patriots game plan for the Jets:

The scouting report on Smith for two years has been he is a one-read quarterback and if the first read isn’t there, he is in trouble.

Smith was so bad the Bills were hoping the Jets would not bench him. One member of the Bills organization told The Post: “We were bummed out when they took Geno out,’’ because the pickings were becoming too easy.

“He was just eyeing down receivers,’’ said Bills linebacker Preston Brown, who got Smith’s second interception. “We saw it on film that he was just staring guys down. When we know if you do that we’re going to jump on guys’ routes, and we got some picks in the back-end with just reading his eyes

“Our main thing was to get our D-line in Geno’s face and get him rattled, make him have hot feet in the pocket so he can’t be comfortable back there,’’ said Bills linebacker Nigel Bradham, who had a forced fumble.
