Chandler Jones reportedly out for a month

Jones had made big play after big play for the Pats, anyone who thinks him not being out there, isn't going to negatively effect the Pats is smoking something. That being said, I'm suspicious of the "Jones out for a month" suddenly coming out of Foxboro, I'm going to hold off until I see the Wednesday injury report. Let's see if he is already listed as "out".

Hopefully the additions of Ayers and Branch will help sure up the D. I do agree that the pass rush is not the way to stop Peyton, as he gets rid of it quickly, although I would not be adverse to see him get hit early and often.

I didn't read the entire thread, but I don't think that anyone is saying that Jones being out won't negatively affect the Pats. I can speak for myself when I was talking about the Broncos that I was saying the Pats could overcome his loss if they can screw up the timing routes of Manning's receivers. I never said he would not negatively impact the Pats in that game. Whenever you lose one of your best players, it negatively impacts the team. Teams can overcome those injuries though.

As for the report, hopefully SMY's source is as wrong as her source that said Dobson was benched for fighting with McDaniels appears to be. Also, many times reporters do give worst case scenarios as their report. The source could have said that he could be out this week, but he could be out for an entire month depending how he responds and then SMY runs with the out up to a month part or the source just gave her up to the month. Also, the source could have said they are targeting the Colts' game as his return date which is about a month away although only two games will be played in that time and if the Pats didn't have a bye he would be back sooner. Too much we don't know.

not like SMY hasnt been wrong before. hopefully she is this time as well

I'm not sure it is injury related but it appeared to me last week that Chandler Jones fell down quite a bit and spent a lot on the ground.

Hope Easley takes a step up and is able to stay healthy. I was excited when NE drafted him and want to see him perform now.

great..i love the depth we have. i'd like to see this lineup for a series pls:

DE Easley - DT Wilfork - DT Patricia - DE Ninkovich
Ayers - Hightower - Collins

(preferably when up by at least 4 tds)

Am I the only one who has been unhappy with Jones' play this year? I thought he was just as guilty at not setting the edge as Nink, and I can't count the number of times he's taken an inside move only to watch the QB or RB bounce around contain for a free run.

This is not to say that I'm pleased to hear he's out or injured, as it's not like we've got a lot of depth or someone waiting in the wings who will be better at it.

Agreed.
First game against the Phins he was pathetic against the run, taking plays off.
Often eschews pursuit on run plays, saving energy for passing pays where he's prone to falling down.
Not even close to consistently good at setting the edge.

He's got great talent but is the anti-Bruschi on too many plays in a game. No I do not expect 100% on every play by a most every down player, but he needs an effort upgrade. Like Bledsoe he's too often comfortable resting on his innate physical talent laurels.

EDIT: I don't mean to indicate that he will not be sorely missed. He's by far our best pass rusher and a very good player.

Man year in and year out this team has crap luck with injuries.
It does and it goes back at least ten or eleven years Players change, trainers change but the injuries continue. This team most likely wins another SB if gronk doesn't get hurt for example.

Jones out? Well that's just great...just f'n great!

That's what happens when there is zero depth at a position. Many people here complaining about the football gods, why can't we have a single season without these injuries, etc...well in this case there's nothing to complain about luck, it's mismanagement, pretty clear, which also brings the question once again, for a coach/GM who says and plan so much about depth, where is the fuking depth?

This is what I would like to see.
34 Base

LDE Jones/Siliga/Branch (as the second and 3rd get healthy)
NT Wilfork
RDE Easley
LOLB Ninkovich
LILB Skinner/Ayers
RILB Collins
ROLB Hightower

I disagree 100% with this post.

talk about being so far off from the truth

Jones is a guy who disappears annually after Thanksgiving - don't believe me or think I'm a Jets fan, just check his stats - so this sucks doubly because he's usually really good the first half of the season. Perhaps this injury will be a blessing in disguise of sorts and he won't have his usual December/January Whodini act....

Well let's use logic. When you play 95% of defensive snaps in 2013, and was injured down the stretch in 2012, he isn't gonna be effective. Now that he will essentially get a break, he should be ready to go down the stretch.

British Leyla mini.

Strange acting, black-haired man in a suit.

Did you even look for an appropriate Mr Bean gif? ;)

Well, yikes. Seriously sucks, but I'd rather that they go cautious with bringing him back, and it sounds like that's what they're doing. Definitely makes this upcoming stretch of games more daunting, but he needs to be 100% for the playoffs.

Could be a blessing in disguise. Maybe he'll be fresh for the playoffs.
