I think that you know better. The team simply decided to move on. Lloyd would likely have been our #2 WR. Later in the offseason, the team didn't want to pay him to be the #5 receiver. With regard tot he medical condition, the team didn't deal with it while Lloyd was with the team. The medical staff has a horrible record, especially with mental conditions which they don't even seem to try to address.

My bottom line is that in the offseason, Lloyd was available for little money. The team had no interest. The team had its own plan to bring in a new set of receivers. The team was so sure of their plan that they didn't even want Edelman much. We were very, very lucky that no team offered Edelman much. The team finally brought Edelman back for short money.

You have no idea if any of your post is true.

Getting no production out your second round draft pick is buzz-worthy.
Agreed, especially in the middle of his second year.

And why did the team wait so long to perform the needed surgery?

We certainly know that Lloyd was available for short money deep into the off-season, after being productive for us.

According to Reiss, they wanted to let it heal naturally. As time went on, they realized it wasn't going to heal properly and decided to operate on it. That's why he lost so much time.

No, we don't. We know that, according to reports, he didn't want to return to NE after they'd tried to slash his contract.

AFTER the patriots decided not to pay Lloyd, he (as with so many patriot players over the years), was available on the open market. Lloyd tested the market. Lloyd was out there for months.

BTW, at the time, you thought that he didn't want to come back because of his rap career.

That was before Lloyd was finally signed by SF.

I thought that the team made a serious error not wanting to bring back Lloyd and Edelman, and relying on all newcomers. As I indicated, I certainly was glad to see them finally bring back Edelman.

This year, the team decided to sign LaFell, even though they had the "awesome" set of four 2013 additions who they were counting on in 2014.

AS AN ASIDE
I tend to support Belichick's choices, trying to understand why he did what he did. Even after a bit of time, I don't understand many of the 2013 decisions at WR. It seems that even looking back, the team should have provided some stability, by making sure that two of Welker, Lloyd and Edelman were coming back. Instead, Welker and Lloyd were sent packing (or they refused to play for what the team considers reasonable deals) and then the team took a long time to sign Edelman. In addition, little was added in free agency after Amendola.

Now this I can agree with.

Has Dobson ever won practice player of the week? Boyce won it already even though he's on the PS, Brain Tyms has already won it in his First week of practice coming back from his four game suspension. I cannot imagine Dobson being some kind secrect weapon for BB waiting to be unleashed. I am begining to think that Dobson practice reps have been so unimpressive that BB fears that it might translate to the real game. Dobson is the only Second year WR who is consistent a healthy scratch *troubling*.:(

What do you guys suggest? To just throw Dobson in and start forcing balls to him just to prove he can play?

Here are TB's attempts from the last 3 games where he has thrown for 914 yards 9 TDS and 0 INTS:

35 Attempts vs Bengals
37 Attempts vs Bills
37 Attempts vs Jets

This is what the game plan calls for from Brady lately, I don't think it's a coincidence hes pretty much at the same amount of attempts in a 3 game consecutive stretch where the offense has been clicking very well, everyone is coming up big (even Amendola had a big TD grab), there is 0 reason to start forcing balls to Dobson. The guy got hurt, missed some time, had surgery, missed some more time, and ultimately fell a bit behind. BB has talked very highly of Dobson, the thing is, he's not the only receiver working hard. There are a lot of hungry players on this team who have been consistently getting better, we see a player get hurt and lose snaps ALL the time in the NFL.

And why did the team wait so long to perform the needed surgery?

Foot injuries are tricky and surgical repair is no guarantee. It seems to me that the docs almost always want to give conservative treatment (full rest) a good shot with surgery as a last resort.

A stress fracture in the foot is far more likely to be ultimately career-ending than a torn ACL. The player may just never be the same.

Odds he's inactive this week? 4/1?

I was under the impression that they were willing to keep Llyod, although at a reduced rate and (hopefully, for them) a reduced role. Llyod turned down their reduced offer and decided to take a year off to pursue his other interests--which included making a B-grade film.

Obviously, I could be incorrect though.

Just my non professional opinion. I'm basing that off mostly his rookie season where he was thrown right into the fire and played pretty well. It's a small sample size because of the injury, but before he got hurt he was more than effective. If we could get that type of play from him for 16 games we are looking at a 1000 yard reciever.

For those of us who are longer in the tooth, when I see Dobson...I see Hart Lee Dykes.

49 catches as a rookie. It would have been nice to see what he could have done without the injuries.

...and Irving Fryar taking out his kneecap.

Barring injury, Dobson isn't making the active roster anytime soon. Especially with Amendola taking over KO duties. I doubt the Pats carry more than 4 WR on the gameday roster, so Endelmen, LaFell, Amendola, and Slater. So Dobson and Tyms fight it out or maybe they both sit. I think the Dobson ship has sailed, chalk him up to the long and ever growing list of second round WR busts!

I wouldn't be surprised if Dobson is included in a trade for a Defensive player.

The Dobson ship has not sailed. It's looking bleak for this season barring an injury, but how has the ship sailed? He had surgery and he lost his job. Happens all the time in this league.

Dobson inactive again today. At this point I have no idea what is going on with this dude. He looked decent at times last year but this year seems like a major step backwards.
