Bears Week

Transplanted New Englander living in Chicago. I can tell you that the Bears indeed run hot or cold. Not only from game to game, but also from one half to the next or quarter to quarter.

They have some very impressive skill position talent on offense. I think the Patriots stand a good chance of having success against the Bears pass attack if they mix zone and man coverages, confuse Cutler, and get consistent pressure on him. The right side of the Bears offensive line is a burgeoning weak link (hello, Jordan Mills).

I would be hesitant to play strictly man against these giant receivers and tight end, as Cutler can (and has) just lob it up and let his boys go get it.

Forte is the one that the Patriots defense will have a tough task of defending, as he is the most productive combo tailback running/receiving in the league ATM.

The Bears defense has been a lot better than it was last year, especially against the run. However, their starting linebackers are not very good.

In fact, when all three starters (e.g. Lance Briggs, D.J. Williams, Shea McClellan) were out against Atlanta, and they had to start three raw players (Jonathan Bostic, Christian Jones, Kassem Green), the Bears defense was very impressive against a potent Falcons offense that usually lights opponents up at the Georgia Dome.

Trestman hinted that he may shake up the linebacking unit this week, but I doubt it. If not, then Brady, with good protection, will carve up the Bears defense in the intermediate to deep middle of the field, as the Bears linebackers and safeties are their weakest units. The Bears linebackers are simply clueless when it comes to disrupting the routes of tight ends at the LOS, as they repeatedly fail to do so game after game after game. Gronk and Wright should eat this Sunday.

The biggest problem with the Bears is coaching. They repeat the same errors almost every week, and Trestman does does not come across through both actions and words, as a leader of men. He seemingly runs a very loose ship, as yesterday's locker-room circus attests.

So overall, if the Patriots tighten up the run defense and play like they have the last three weeks, I love their chances this week at home against a talented albeit undisciplined opponent.

Pats lead the league in forcing turnovers (14)...bears are -1 differential..pats are +9

Here is what Bears fans think of our game

http://www.chicitysports.com/forum/showthread.php/54983-I-know-the-Bears-will-beat-the-Patriots

Most calling Gronk to have a field day with no fuller and Conte

With Pats playing DEN after them. Would be nice to get this W in case the lose the DEN game

At least one of those fans has a head for teams besides his/her own:

Pats are not world beaters yet...that usually comes in weeks 12-17...

It would have been better that they had their locker room explosion after the Patriots game rather than before.
I wonder what Ditka thinks about it.

Need to generate a better pash rush than recent weeks to force cutler into mistakes. Can't give him time to find his weapons. Also if the bears are patient Forte could have a big game if last weeks rush defense shows up

We are on course for 40+ sacks this season. Those are good numbers.

I like our corners on their receivers but we need to be able to cover Forte out of the backfield and Bennett scares the crap out of me.

Everyone says look at the size of their receivers. I say look at the size of our receivers.

Gronk 6-6
Wright 6-4
Hoomanawanui 6-4
Tyms 6-4
LaFell 6-3
Dobson 6-3
Amendola 5-11
Edelmen 5-10 but 200+lbs

We no longer are a team of smurf receivers.

This can become complicated if they get 2 unanswered TD's in the first quarter and do not turn the ball over, other than that, I've been watching the Bears games this season and their defense do not present a difficult challenge for Brady. For the Bears to win they need to get this early lead and even lowering the level a little bit after that they need to play absolutely mistake free football and do a basic use of their weapons, that's good enough to beat 80% of the teams in this league, a contender like the Patriots though, may need a little more. Fuller was their best defensive player and a ball hawk but he's out.

Not underestimating them but the Patriots can only lose this game to themselves. The Bears had a huge lead against the Panthers a couple weeks ago and allowed them to comeback, and the Panthers are back to their 4-12 shape.

I think Vereen and Gronk have a big day this week and the Pats win. The ONLY positive about dropping a game here is Peyton and the Bronco's have virtually no shot Nov. 2nd. Pats don't lose two in a row, especially at home.

jones loss i don't think hurts us this week..cutler can suck regardless of pass rush

But if for some reason the pats lose which if cutler doesn't turn it over..they very well could (just don't think this happens) Denver game will be pretty big from trying to not go into the bye 0-2.

But they are at home and very hard to beat there. Cutler will make mistakes

and pats didn't create a TO last week..wonder when the last time they didn't in 2 strait games.

I'm fine with mixing up coverages in this game, and in every game. But they should be playing press man to man the majority of the time. With Jones out, they'll have to blitz if they want to pressure Cutler. Play those receivers tight and force Cutler into some bad decisions and we'll have ourselves a turnover or two.

to me, this is a game(the start of a series of games) to show why we are paying Browner/Revis. two big elite receivers against two CB's who can match up with them. i'm excited about watching these matchups.

hopefully browner can dust off the rust and beat Alshon Jeffrey up abit.

I don't think Browner was as rusty as people are stating. I mean, he definitely needs to get back into "football shape", but that PI call was a travesty. There was just very physical play within 5 yards of the LOS. That's not PI.

Message to everyone going to the game.

Show Revis some love and that the way to apologize to BB is by giving his all for the team on Sunday afternoon.

Oh, that's me (and my little "Brady lady") -- YIPPEE!!!

Listening to those 2 say "Tom Brady" and "brady" still sends chills down my spine. Really wish those 2 were still calling games.

I was just thinking the same thing. Those guys had a lot of excitment in their calls, everyone now a days seems so dull and bored, or are clearly biased to one side.

I hear what you're saying. It's why I like Ian Eagle so much. He puts emotion into his play by play and gets you excited listening to him (at least for me).

eagle is okay, fouts is kind of ehhhhh.

i-an eagle? Why does he pronounce his name like this?
