Bears Week

so, who does revis cover? Marshall? Browner on bennet and Dennard on alshon jeffries?

IDK, I might say put Revis on Jeffreys. Marshall is not having a good year. He is fourth on the team in receptions and yards. Also, he has had two receptions all year that went over 20 yards. Other than a big game against a horrible Falcons' defense, he has been less than impressive all year. I know he has been injured, but so has Jeffreys.

I like that the 3-4 Bears come to Foxboro having lost three of their last four with the media distractions dogging them while the Patriots at 5-2 have slipped back off the radar. The Patriots will have a normal week of preparation, and the benefit of looking at film with three common opponents (Bills, Jets, Dolphins).

If both Connolly and Stork are cleared to go, the most effective OL we've seen yet will be back on the field at home to give Brady time and open some holes for the running backs.

Opening line is Patriots -7.

a wounded animal is the most dangerous.....

The Bears are a funny team, Marshall is a great WR, tall and attacks the ball. He can single handedly beat you, make no mistake about that. I give the guy all the credit in the world for disclosing his disorder and dealing with it. He is a regular on Showtime's Inside the NFL and does well on the show.

Cutler is a strange dude, he never seems to react either way to anything.

Hopefully the Bears will implode, in all honesty, they are probably happy to be on the road this week.

Honestly I have a bad feeling about this one. I think the bears come in here as desperate as the Jets but with more overall talent.

This Bears O is near impossible to stop when Cutler is on his game and the OL isn't playing like complete trash. I think the Patriots O has turned a corner and I don't think the Bears will stop it easily.

I predict a close game that we will probably need to come from behind or make a last second play to win.

Now a few fun facts about Chicago!

You would think their rushing attack is good cause they have Forte. However that are kind of bad actually.

They average 95.3 YPG which is 24th in the league. Their YPC is an average 4.1. Cutler actually averages 4.0 so he is not the reason it is bad. They just don't run the ball well and don't get good results really.

So I feel confident they will not e able to run the ball well on us due to really have Forte and no other backs.

Forte however is on pace for 997 yards receiving and that is how he will beat you. That is something the Patriots need to contain.

So the Patriots should be able to hold up against the run and I think going nickel all game be a smart move in that case. Bait them into running and see if Forte alone can hold up for all those carries.

They are -1 on Turn over differential. So about smack dab in the middle. However that being the case they have 13 giveaways which is tied for 4th. They also have 12 takeaways which is tied for 5th. 8 of them being interceptions.

Pretty clear here If Brady does not throw Ints you almost certainly will win the turnover battle.

Not much to say about that passing attack except it is for real.

I wonder If WR Alshon Jeffery wants out of that train wreck? I would part with a First Rounder for him.

Browner on Marshall with safety help and Revis on Alshon sounds about right. Cutler is no threat to run with the football so we shouldn't see the same kind of candy ass gameplan they rolled out last week.

Cutler is not a complete statue though, he does run a few times.

I'm not sure which WR Revis is going to take, or how they will approach the other one. I trust they'll have a good idea going in, and will adjust if it doesn't work there.

I do think we're going to see Bennett get a frustrating number of catches, and that will be okay. He's the remainder in the formula that says:

1) Whichever receiver is not being covered by Revis is going to need safety help, which removes said safety from coverage on the TE.

2) The Pats LB who has the best chance of covering Bennett (Collins) is also the LB who is probably most useful covering Forte on screens and dump-offs. Given that Forte is probably going to be a hyper focus of BB's gameplan, I see him making that tradeoff.

One alternative is to use Browner on Bennett, but I have yet to see him play an inside position on anyone, so that's a big unknown. All said, Bennett WILL get catches, and some will say it's further proof that we CAN'T cover TE's, but I think it will be more that we're picking our poison, and Bennett won the stats lottery.

the bears defense is banged up. fuller just broke his hand.
unleash the GRONK!!!!:D:D:D

Some Comments on the Comments:

1. Marshall's story is a great one, and I can't over respect what he's accomplished. He's also one damned fine receiver

2. Cutler might be a first class Ahole, but he's also and extremely tough and talented QB. I mean the guy is Bledsoe tough, so you have to respect that.

3. I saw an amazing stat Unfortunately the details have escaped me. But the jist was, over his career, when Cutler doesn't turn the ball over his teams were something like 58-6, when he does turn the ball over his teams are like 8-37 Those are most certainly not the correct numbers, but the kind of spreads they represent are right.

The problem is that TO's can't be predicted. Even TO machines like Geno and Cutler have games where they don't turn it over, just look at the Jets game.. Bottom line: if we don't win the TO battle this game will be a high scoring dog fight. If we are +2 or better, we will win by 2 TD's or more.

4. This game is a perfect example of why Browner and Revis were brought in. If what has been reported here is true, I think you have to put Revis on Jeffery because he looks to be the deep threat and have Browner on Marshall who seems to be runing the short routes. But for this game, I'd go away from the press man a bit. For this game I'd take a page from the Seattle play book and play a tough, physical match up zone with help over the top as my base.

Cutler actually does better against man teams its easier for him to read the coverages. Where Cutler gets into trouble is when he misreads coverage and ends up throwing into traffic. For this game man is fine, but only in small doses. I think the goal in THIS game is to look like man at snap, but actually be in a match up zone,.

Also while Cutler isn't a run threat like Geno and Tannyhill, he does move well in the pocket. He's not a statue like Orton was.

5. As far as the passing game goes, I think we'll do fine on Jeffery and Marshall. They'll get their catches but I think it will add up to under 130 yds combined. The big question is how well we defend Forte and Bennett. The Pats lead the league in average passing ypg at just over 200/game. 9If they are anything close to that they will win the game going away.

6. As far as the run defense goes, it just better be a lot better.......and I think it will. No one handles extra time better than this staff. It won't be perfect, and Forte will have his moments., but it will be a lot better. Anything up to 100yds will be OK.

7. Like every team the Bears are banged up. Losing Fuller is going to hurt their secondary. However their OL is getting healthy at the wrong time for us. Fortunately, even healthy it isn't as good as the Jets OL, but I could be better than ours (depending on who plays) Keep that in mind vs the pass rush and run.

8.Summary: I will be very disappointed if the Offense doesn't score over 30 points on their own. I will be disappoint EVERY week they don't score 30, but there is no excuse this week. Defensively I have no ideal what to expect. I have high hopes for significant improvement, but I've been wrong before. 34-17 SHOULD be what the final score looks like, but.........

yeah, the next few weeks are going to be fun with revis/browner. and these are the teams we picked them up for. ALOT of good receivers coming up on the schedule

Cutler is the most overrated, over paid quarterback in the league. I'd take Joe Flacco and his contract any day over Cutler.

Patriots win this game. No Cutler lead team is beating Belichick with this secondary.

Hope we stop the run.

And hope we find a way to sustain drives without Ridley, instead of scoring quickly. We're not gonna' win in the play offs like that. Hopefully Gray steps up and doesn't fumble. Not really comfortable with Vareen in his new role down the stretch. It looks very stoppable.

We need to be able to pound the rock or our season probably won't be ending with a Lombardi.

there TE and RB are both good pass catchers and that's the pats weakness stopping the run and covering TE's and RB's its one of does teams the pat will not hold under 25 so the offense has to come ready to play

Our offense is rolling and their defense stinks. They don't have the pass rush that our last 3 opponents have

jeffrey had 2 catches yesterday...first 2 plays of the game on O...then that was it...how was he that invisible with that much talent? Their O is suspect outside of Forte IMO

Like pointed out earlier..if cutler doesn't turn the ball over..this is a close game...INT or fumble loss...they usually lose

If you replace Cutler with Brady, the Bears would be closer to 6-1 than 3-4. They've got some excellent skill position players (Marshall, Jeffrey, Bennett, Forté). We shouldn't underestimate them because their QB is a caveman.

Oh they may be 6-1. But that D isn't very good and just lost Fuller..a very good rookie CB to injury.

To start his rookie career, Fuller has been brilliant and is a major loss for the Bears. I fully expect the Patriots to exploit their secondary. The comment is more we shouldn't underestimate the Bears O because they have playmakers at every level.
