OT: Shaughnessy looks on the bright side of life

My faith in psychiatric pharmaceuticals was restored this week when, on Thursday, Deus Irae followed his pharmacist's directions and posted joyfully throughout the Jets at Pats game, and again this morning when I opened the Globe to find a column full of silver linings from Dan Shaughnessy.

The best silver lining for shaunghnessy is that he only ever needs to see his own face when he looks in the mirror.

Since I receive the Sunday Globe, here are the cliff notes from what I skimmed of the column: everything is great with all of our sports teams, all team members, staff and officials are above reproach and everything is coming up roses. Now, here's the between the lines, less than subliminal message: all you fanboys wearing rose-colred glasses may hate me, but I'm one of the few around here honest enough to tell you that all of your beloved teams suck and you're all chumps and that they all laugh at you behind your backs. You should listen to me and disregard everything you see or experience. What a first class, self-absorbed, hateful douche...

When did Peter King start writing for the Globe?

When your writing emphasizes some things and not others, you can be accused of not recognizing the others. Dan S. evidently felt that was happening to him, and set out to combat the notion.

Yeah, just what I expected. Nice words full of contempt and being a smart ass in the process. Doom and gloom Danny boy, that's what your best at. Keep it coming, not many are reading.

Shank writes a column that is 100% sarcasm, saying he won't be sarcastic. Who cares? It's just another piece of drivel, this time of the mail it in, bromide variety.

I remember the days of the really good scribes in this town.. McDonough, Gammons etc. at that time the writers were king of the town... remember anxiously awaiting the Globe on Sunday where on page 2 of the sports section was a huge article written by Gammons on all things MLB... now it is crap.

In this day and age with some really good coaches, the writers have taken a step backwards as they are governed by social media and public opinion.. thus how they gauge success is by how many folks either like or hate their articles.. it does not matter as long as you click..

This red headed bastard is just another contrarian, who will make their own hall of fame along with Felger, Borges and Mazz...
