Vincent Jackson on the trade block?

Anyone saying this team is set at WR needs to be drug tested immediately. Furthermore, you help yourself where you can. If trading for Jackson would be more help than trading for someone at another position, you take the WR.

That being said...

If Tampa really is getting a lot of calls on Jackson, his price will probably be higher that BB is willing to pay.

I guess i needed to say I would be fine with it for vet minimum.:)

Please get him. Our redzone offense will become # 1 in the NFL, and we will have an offense as good as the broncos.

him out there instead of dola would be awesome. I've kind of lost faith in Dobson so if he can play in this offense id probably do it. I think his contract isnt guarenteed so we could cut him at the end of the year if needed. depends what it would take. a 4th or less I would pending on his ability to play in this offense not sure how smart he is.

Please commit this to memory and repeat it out loud. We do not need more receivers. Its one of the deepest positions on the team. DT or LB, however is another story. Getting McCoy would be a HUGE get for the Pats though I don't know how it could happen.

Bottom line, the Pats have proven in the past that they aren't afraid to pull the trigger on a mid-season trade. I don't expect it, but I certainly wouldn't be surprised, But if it does happen, I'd be shocked if was for anything else by a defensive lineman or LB
there hasn't been a whole lot of production beyond Edelman and LaFell...wide out isnt the biggest need but Id say its definitely worth a look. what have you seen from dola dobson and tyms to say we are all set?

What part of the team should we wipe out to pay for his contract?

Oh, we have to trade for him too? How about Brady, Revis and all our drafts until 2020? Would that be enough?

I'm not sure how much of his 2015-2016 contract is guarenteed but:

His 2014 cap hit for us would be about 5 million since the Bucs already paid for nearly half his season.

I'm not sure what you mean with this. The Patriots have the space for his contract, which would be for less than $10m per year (through 2016). Revis' deal, with its $25m cap hit, is the big issue moving forward.

A report that says 'they've got a ton of calls, like him as a player but consider everything" is basically code for "someone make us a decent offer"

What's his contract situation after this year though? How much guarnateed? Could the Pats let him go without a hit if they couldn't redo his deal? Maybe it isn't out of the realm of possibility. Adding him helps Brady a lot which in turn helps the defense.

According to rotoworld he's ungaurenteed next season.

Right because Brady has so much time to throw, just like Peyton

Nobody is saying anything like this....if he can learn the offense and doesnt come for very much you have to consider it...

I would put WR as the fourth or fifth biggest need on this team right now. They could use help on both lines and LB (and possibly a coverage safety opposite McCourty) more than a WR. If the Pats were to make a trade, I would rather see them go those places first.

I would say the order is:

1.) DT (although Siliga will be back in about four games)
2.) LB
3.) o-line
4.) WR

How much of this years unused salary rolls into next year? Are we going to waste a lot of cap by not using it on extension or a trade like this?

But we need to trade for him and pay him, right? Competing with other teams?

Change that to "one" has to consider it, please.

But we need to trade for him and pay him, right? Competing with other teams?

You've got not real point, since

  1. You don't know the asking price
  2. His salary can fit under the cap
  3. The team has nobody of his proven talent level/skill set currently at WR

so why are you arguing against it anyway?

Yeah maybe nobody else is willingly to give much. Not saying trade the farm for the guy. Who knows how interested these teams may or may not be. Plenty of teams just doing the old "due diligence." Contract is low risk so if he can come for a 4th or 5th then it very well may be worth the risk. All depends on how familiar he is with a playbook like the Earnhardt-Perkins and or ability to learn.

send tampa a 4th and a 2nd for lavonte david.
all pro LB.
