What are your expectations for the Patriots this upcoming 2014 NFL Season?

Still can't believe what a difference halftime made during the Miami game. It's like someone came in and drugged the entire team. The first half was pretty much in line with what we all expected, and things haven't been the same since.

Supa I blame the coaches. They haven't been doing their job on preparing this team. Their is no way a team goes from last year to this year with such regression.

no expectations...hope for the best, expect disaster. last night was really bad.
cinci are a stronger team then the chiefs. it's going to be nasty. only positive is the division is pure garbage. 8 wins might be enough to take the east!

Since 2004, I have predicted a division win and 11-5. I see now reason to change this now that we are 2-2 and will likely be 5-4 or 4-5 at the break.

My "worst case" since the 2001 miracle has been to tie for the division. Of course, sometimes we tie and don't make the playoffs, sometimes we do. I don't think that we have failed to at least tie for the division since 2001. We are seriously spoiled. We are also spoiled by patriot coaching. This was the worst effort in the Belichick era.

I still think that we are heavy favorites to win the division.

================
SOME OTHER PREDICTIONS/CONSIDERATIONS
1) LaFell will continue to be a productive WR (as he has been in 2 games so far).
2) The defense will again be top 10 in points allowed.
3) The running game will continue to be OK, hopefully top 10 again, but perhaps not.
4) The coaching and passing game will improve. If not, cancel all the above.
==============
BOTTOM LINE
This is NOT the best team since 2007 as so many predicted before the season started.
We still look like division winners with a home playoff game.

It's fun to read these now. I was right there with you guys, expecting the best even while telling myself "Nah don't make those kind of predictions."

2-2 through 4 games, and we haven't beaten anybody very good. One thing I saw last night was stretches where the O-line was playing okay and it was all about "who Brady trusts" in the ESPN in-game commentary.

The shot-across-the-bow benching will be all the rage this week. Brady's got a long leash, and I don't think - I don't think - he gets replaced as starter without the season in or near the tank. As in, 2-4 at least, with accompanying production at QB. Not after 2-3, if that's what comes this weekend. Probably not until 2-5. What do these expectations look like? They look like the Tuesday after last night's Chiefs game.

Is last night's game The Truth? In combination with Miami, and in combination with poor offensive showings all season, you have to say this shows every sign of that being the case.

The difficulty is in isolating variables. Honestly, I would not be surprised to see reports of JimGar getting practice reps w/the first team soon. But that would assume we know who the first team is when he's getting reps with them :)

Right now? Disarray. Through four games. It's comforting that in the NFL they play 16. Right now, this is a bad football team.

For now I keep telling myself, as Aaron Rogers might,

Looking back after 16 I hope I'm laughing that I was getting that sinking "End of Brady" feeling. But I'm getting it.

God bless you for believing MG. Something feels different this time. We're pointing fingers at the OC, the OL, the receiving corps, some at Brady, etc.

And this D has some horses... but last night showed they can still not show up.

Brandon LaFell is my hero right now. I have never said "Brandon LaFell is my hero" before. It is frightening to say "Brandon LaFell is my hero."

Never been a henny penny type. I hope I'm wrong to be coming down with a slight case of the virus now.

Through 25% of the season they are a. 500 team. They are what they are, a .500 team.
And there is absolutely no reason to think they are anything more than that if you do you are delusional.
The Patriots are just average. That is the new reality.

9-7.

I think they'll be around that, maybe 10-6 if they get some clutch wins here and there.

Great to see more useful and interesting posts. Let's keep them coming.

Well my pre season goal was to win the Super Bowl as it is very year. But now I want to make the divisional round. Still hasn't counted out the Super Bowl yet thought.

I thought that I had already participated in this thread. I predict one and done in the playoffs.

Unless there is immediate improvement, 2-6 on the road and 5-3 at home. I believe
that the players do not like Belichick and disrespect his coaches and have tuned them out.

Based upon the game so far, I think this team could go 5-11. Really. I think they will lose in Buffalo and lose several games in a row against Denver, at Indy, Against Detroit, at Greenbay and at San Diego. There schedule is brutal. Just brutal.

Great posts. Lets keep them coming.

My expectations are mostly contingent upon health, but here are some:

  1. Brady to "bounce back" from what was not a bad season in the first place
  2. Edelman to have fewer catches
  3. Amendola to have more catches
  4. Thompkins to have more catches
  5. Gronk to have 70-80 catches
  6. Wendell to be beaten out at center
  7. A surprising amount of 3-4 defense
  8. A 5 man RB corps of Ridley, Vereen, White, Devlin and a battle for the 5th spot
  9. D.J. Williams not to make the team
  10. A return to the Super Bowl
  11. Easley to be considered a disappointment by many, because of his late start and bounce back time
  12. Bequette to be cut
  13. 13+ wins
  14. Interesting use of the Slot/Outside hybrid receivers (Edelman/LaFell/Amendola/Boyce (if he makes the team), varying their positions and roles more than we would normally see
  15. Top 5 scoring offense, top 5 scoring defense
  16. Top 5 total offense, top 10 total defense

The first "not gonna happen" - Thompkins isn't going to have more catches, at least in a NE uniform.

#3 looks like it isn't happening either.

The Pats are currently 5-2. What are your current expectations?

13-3 and hopefully the Super Bowl ...

I think the team is good enough ... will it be healthy enough?
I am thinking my 13-3 might end up being 11-5 ...

My reason is Belichick needs to play everybody to improve the team and that is a gamble but necessary. This year it will truly be a team effort wire to wire.

13-3 with a loss to the Chargers

No. 1 seed - Win the SuperBowl
