The Patriots vs Jets POST Game Thread

I think he just was behind the curve, and a Veteran looking for his shot in a pass heavy offense (lafell) siezed the spot. and thus far, Tyms has shown a better ability to snag those "hard to catch passes"

It stinks that Dobson so far appears to be a bust. BUT at least someone has stepped up. I didnt care who it was. as long as someone did. and we have Lafell on a reasonable contract

I feel the same way. You can take the names off of the back of the jerseys. All I care is that people are making plays. I doubt BB will have a bruised ego if his 2nd round WR doesn't blossom and neither should we.

not to mention it would just be another guy in a list of WR busts by the patriots. the last two wide receivers they drafted that have been successful here have been Deion Branch and Julian Edelman. Everyone else has come via FA or trade

As it stands now, is the 2013 draft the worst draft of the BB era? Watching the game last night, I couldn't help but think it would have helped to get one good player out of last year's draft. Just one.

I always thought David Givens was a good player.

The most amazing thing to me last night was that a 6'1" is the one who blocked the field goal.
What are the odds for a short lineman to shoot into the gap enough to get his hand on that ball?

Simply an amazing play IMO ....... a much taller DL player kind of play.

Yeah, cause, you know, you always evaluate drafts one year later.

Can you imagine if you somehow ended up a fan of some other NFL franchise? Which team actually has made your grade over the last several years?

No pleasing some people.

Watching the slo-mo replays of the block, I found myself wondering why nobody has hired one of these guys like Javale McGee or someone who has incredible height and leaping skills and whose job would be to simply run up two or three steps and leap into the place where the kick is likely to go. I mean, surely that would disrupt at least one field goal per game and how valuable could that be?

Solder, for example, was in there for that very reason since he's 6' 8" but probably demonstrated a 2" vertical. And I'm being sympathetic since he outleaps me.

........to the tune of 4.3 yards per carry.

I would like to see that number be a little higher against a team that is dropping 8. Think about it, with the "weapons" we have, it tells that tells me the jets have no secondary, which everyone already knew, it also tells me rex knows he has no secondary.

The Jets OL was holding all night long.

Geno is dropping back and taking sacks in lieu of throwing the ball away and risking the INT.

I had high hopes for Cannon. He was supposed to have quick feet. He is no Left Tackle IMO.

Brady had a great game. The throw to Amendola was sweet.

The NE pass defense is ranked 4th in the NFL.

I would have liked to see more of Jonas Gray.

Play calling got squirrely for a while.

The passing game is coming along.

If Rex did not onside kick the Jets win this game. They should have kicked off and played field position.

what was more amazing to me wasit was the same player that LOST us the Jets game last year with his penalty on a game winning Field goal.

now, a year later he gets the game winning field goal BLOCK.

cant make that stuff up.

Standing next to BB, Jones is almost equal height.

What else is kind of funny about some of the overreaction for as much as the jests played over their heads Pats had the lead in the game for 55 minutes.

I too was shocked when the jets didn't run the ball on the 2 pointer. I guess they didn't think that their run game was working well enough.

I was shocked when the Jets went with an empty backfield for that 2 point conversion attempt. Really? With the way the Patriots defense was playing the run, you don't even try play action or, I don't know, maybe run the ball? A big thank you to their offensive coordinator.

Judging a draft after not even 1 1/2 seasons is a pointless exercise...

Which players from that draft are the players you think will turn things around and become quality players?

What if I said their first 3 picks?

If it's only been 17 months since they were drafted... how do you know I'm wrong?

What if I said their first 3 picks?

I'd say that the odds say it's not going to happen.

I don't, but I don't like your odds.

Having said that, I was being serious when I asked the question. Beauharnais is gone, so he's out.

Buchanan
Boyce
Harmon
Ryan
Dobson
Collins

That's what's left of the draft. Who's going to develop into a legitimate, worthwhile pick for the Patriots?

FWIW Collins is getting the same bad rap , hightower got last year. So not ready to give up on him yet.

Yes at this point they don't look like home run picks... but there is no way of knowing for sure after only 14 months. Hence, it's a pointless exercise to judge so soon.

IMO, I believe Collins will develop. Have not given up on Dobson. On the fence about Ryan. We'll see....
