And the grind of the schedule now begins..

can't lose to that ******* manning!!
we usually play well against better opposition. the bears defense isn't that great/neither is green bay's but the qb's are obviously better than anything we've faced so far..

if geno can move the ball imagine what aaron rodgers will do?

He'll probably get picked 3 times, that's how these things usually go LOL

hard to predict anything. pats beat up buffalo on the road and struggled vs the jets at home. There is no saying how this team looks in 6 weeks from now or how the other teams look.

if people thought the pats were going to blowout the jets...they were fooling themselves. This was the jets last stand..their SB this year. They gave 150% out there tonight and still lost. They always play each other close

Always?

I guess 45-3 in 2010 or 49-19 in the butt fumble game never happened.

This is the basically the same schedule that the Jets had so far, handing them all of those losses.

Pats aren't Jets, though. Should make for some stunning television.

Chargers/Colts/Broncos could end up being the Pat's playoff schedule.

Quite the gauntlet we're about to run through. I hate playing detroit. I feel like our chances of injury are substantially higher against them than any other team. Maybe it's better now that Schwartz is gone. If we go 4-2 I'll be thrilled but certainly doable. Broncos and Chargers are the 2 hardest games IMO.

Detroit in particular really scares me. Their line is ridiculous.

Where have I heard this one before.

"Cinci's line scares me"- 36 points put up by the offense
"Buffalo's line scares me"- 37 points put up by the offense
"Jets' line scares me"- 27 points in 19 minutes

Three straight weeks where these "scary lines" weren't really a factor

We're already well into the grind in my opinion. Green Bay and Detroit really don't concern me.

I'm not thinking about the next 6 games, only the next 1. 10 days off to get healthy before facing Chicago. Things that I'd like to see:

1. More intensity. The Jets game didn't have the energy that the Pats showed against Cincinnati and Buffalo.

2. More aggressiveness.

3. Get a healthy starting OL back together. Solder-Connolly-Stork-Wendell-Vollmer with Fleming for jumbo sets would be nice.

4. Get Easley and Ebner back and involved in the defense. Particularly with Mayo out, I think Ebner could be a key in sub packages.

5. Get Tim Wright more involved.

The team that played against Cincinnati and Buffalo can be very successful against any of those 6 teams. The team that played last night will struggle terribly. The Pats just need to clean up their act, get people back, and take things one game at a time.

I'm not smart enough to predict the rest of the season, game by game. Looking at the next six games, I could see them winning any one of them or losing any one of them...and let's not forget that they finish with three Division games, one home against a team that beat them before and another at a team they were very fortunate to beat last night.

So, my preseason prediction was 11--5 and I'm sticking by it but take consolation from the fact that 10--6 should be enough to win the Division. After that, it's a matter of who's hot when.

Since 2000 Pats/jests have played 31 games and only 5 were blowouts in the Pats favor. 2002, 2007, 2010, and 2012.

Pats/jests for the most part have played close games for the last 15 seasons and obviously it goes back further than that but I just did the BB era.

Yes, we really kicked their ass badly one of three times that we played them four years ago. What a smart observation.

4 of the last 5 times we've played them, it's been a one-score game.

That 3 out of 4 of those games after the bye are on the road is incredibly grueling. I think 3-3 would have us in pretty good shape, to be honest. After that, three AFCE games to close out the season will give us a chance to put away the division (though Buffalo and Miami may have already fallen off by that point).

I would include the Pats 31-14 win in 2009 and 37-16 win in 2011, but I agree with your general point.

Since Rex Ryan became HC of the Jets the Pats and Jets have played 12 times (including the playoffs), with the Pats going 8-4:

2009 L 16-9
2009 W 31-14
2010 L 28-14
2010 W 45-3
2010 Divisional Playoffs L 28-21
2011 W 30-21
2011 W 37-16
2012 W 29-26 (OT)
2012 W 49-19
2013 W 13-10
2013 L 30-27 (OT)
2014 W 27-25

That's 4 blowout wins by the Pats (17 points or more), 4 losses, 6 games decided by 7 points or less, 4 games decided by 3 points or less, and 2 OT games.

Well reason why I had those as non blowouts is while the final score says blowout the 2009 game it was 24-14 going into the 4th quarter and the 2011 game it was 23-16 with 9 minutes left in the game.
