Taking something that is standard procedure, happens all the time....and twisting it to imply that the refs helped the Pats avoid a penalty on that blocked field goal play. LOLOLOLOL. The lengths that this clown will go to get clicks....

The Patriot haters are clicking, arfing and clapping right on cue, which of course is what he wanted...

He was smacked down by the league:

The NFL explains that an official’s redirection of Hightower, who was creeping toward an illegal spot in front of the snapper on a would-be game-winning 58-yard field goal try, is something that happens often.

“It is a standard officiating procedure that occurs regularly,” league spokesman Brian McCarthy said by email. “In fact, it is on [NFL V.P. of officiating] Dean Blandino’s video that went to the teams yesterday and will be on the version of it that goes to the media today.”

the NFL VP of officiating just addressed this on NFLN and said it was :
a) standard for safety purpose
b) most likley hightower was going to line to make a call before getting out of position

(paraphrasing the above)

It's standard procedure because most refs in most leagues don't really like to be part of the game. To the extent they can prevent penalties by moving players, they will. That way the game is won or lost by the players playing the game and not by who has the least procedural laundry.

Florio had about as much chance of blocking that field goal from his crouched position in his dank cave in Thule as Hightower did five yards off the line of scrimmage.

What the hell is the controversy? Refs taping a defender so they move out of an illegal spot on field goals happens all the times.

But can people please stop linking PFT here. It's a site that posts clickbait hate against every team because it makes fans angry. When the fans get angry they post the link on forums like this, which results in more clicks and more money. This is PFTs business plan, making people irritated and angry.

florio is a troll. he just wants publicity for his website. the more hits, the better.

exactly why i didn't click on the link.. Every Florio click...even by those of us who think he's an idiot...is money in the bank for him (also why I've never ever clicked on the Horrald after its journalistic fraud during Spygate...and why none of us ever should).

Like I said in the other thread, I'm just glad the ref did not distract Hightower enough to keep him from making that call ... Nice job staying focus by Hightower.

Florio has given Vulgar and Spazz a 4 hour talking point for today's show.

I made a comment immediately when I saw the little story he made up about how he can stop his crying and whining and how everyone knows he hates the Pats b/c they own his beloved Steelers. It was up for a few minutes and deleted.

For "making it big" with his website he sure is incredibly insecure.

It's amusing that the admins of that site actually look for certain comments (pro patriots) and delete them while leaving other comments that are extremely offensive, inaccurate, & inappropriate.

that is why he is a hack.

As others said, sounds like standard procedure.

Even if it was a BAD decision by and official, it would karma for the terrible call in New York last year. I'm still shocked that they made that call last year at THAT time of the game. Isn't it an unwritten rule to let the players play and not call obscure penalties at critical times?

If the Jets fans want to complain about officiating, they should complain about the PI call the defender received when covering Amendola on the long pass right before halftime (essentially giftwrapping at a least a field goal instead of making the Pats punt).
