Amendola

Oh come on, you're loving this. There are more " I told you so's" from you here in this thread, and now you're feigning depression?
Simply go see a physical therapist to alleviate the pain you've got in your elbow from that excessive patting yourself on the back.........you'll feel even better after Thursday.
I actually have not been very active in the Amendola discussion recently, I just stopped by this thread tonight because I am bored. I am not saying I told you so, I think the outcome is disappointing and as a fan of the Patriots I would not love anything that is detrimental to them. That said I am not the least bit surprised by the outcome, Amendola was a JAG slot receiver that McDaniels over sold and we now have to suffer the consequences of that failure.

Thursday is my birthday so hoping for a victory to make it a great day...

What a waste of money he's been, to date. I'm baffled how someone can seemingly come back healthy and actually look slower than he did with a shredded groin.

WHy keep putting him out there? Really why? If the D was smart they would know the ball is not coming his way...becasue it just won't. Brady doesn't look at him and he doesn't get open. Waste of a body on every single snap he plays

Where in the world is Danny Amendola? I think I will put out a missing persons report.

Chad Johnson was an aging player signed with the hope that we could get a year or maybe 2 of a rejuvenated career. Amendola was supposed to be a centerpiece in the offense for 4-5 years at least. His failure is huge, and if not for the emergence of Edelman we would be truly screwed.

Not to mention Johnson was kind of a 'bonus' that didn't pan out in that acquiring him wasn't in the early offseason plan -- whereas the Patriots decided not to match the Bronco's offer on a 100 catch/year player* and instead give that money (and more years) to a injury prone player who never produced at a above average level; and at the same time were willing to let Edelman -- a player who had shown flashes of being able to replace Welker -- test free agency and likely would've have matched an offer if any other team gave him above minimum pay.

So yes, I agree -- Amendola was the worst Patriots signing, and they lucked out that no other team choose to give Edelman a above-min contract 2 years ago.

*(Welker came back to the Pats and asked them to just match the Bronco's offer, the one the Pats themselves claimed was less than their own offer, and Welker was told the Pats had moved on even before signing period had begun);

At this point, why is he even on the field? Should have Tyms or Dobson out there taking his snaps and put Edelman in the slot permanently. At least Brady will look to Tyms or Dobson and those guys can actually go vertical.

It's irresponsible of the coaches IMO.

As I said in a prior post I think he will get the entire first half of the season to show something. While I agree with your position in theory I think you could also make the case that it would be irresponsible of the coaches not to give a player that the team invested so much in every chance to succeed. In addition, make no mistake about it Amendola is McDaniels guy.

Dowling was never the same player after the hip injury his rookie season. Amendola was not exactly a first round talent so any diminishment in talent could be fatal to his playing career and he does not play the game with the same IQ as Welker or Edelman making his athletic capability that much more significant.

Hi Guys! - Dola

it would be nice if we could keep the "yeah but..." negativity out for just one night. came up huge in the win, and looks like he might be the best kick returner on the roster going forward.

It would probably be wise to just appreciate Amendola's contributions we saw tonight in the kick return game and his game-winning catch. Everyone gets it, he's sucked up to this point, but piling on him tonight just seems cheap and low-rent to me.

Well said. I've never been part of either side in the endless pro and anti Amendola threads, although I guess I had hoped for a little more when he became a Patriot.

However, at least it can be said that he came up big in one important game, I don't think we would have won without him tonight.

Yep, he finally made some important plays tonight. Keep doing it, and we'll change his name to "Dolla".

Whew. Couple of clutch plays for him tonight for sure.

Huge praise from Belichick after the game ("Nobody works harder than Danny. Offense. Scout team. Special teams. He's a real competitive kid. Tough.") and the massive Brady hug after the touchdown. Amendola has been totally invisible this year but he just won a football game for them. Seriously, that catch was pretty incredible.
