Aaron Dobson

I wonder what is going on too. It seems they need to make it a point to get him involved more. I imagine if I was a WR a lot of it would be reps and confidence and we need to build that up for Dobson. Think of the dual threat of Dobson and Tyms, that would be badass. Not to mention Minitron, Gronk, and LaFell all in there too.

I don't think Tyms is waiting for the coaches to get him involved.

Indeed. It seems as if the only waiting Tyms has done is waiting to get off the suspended list: two games, twice active.

He's a man in a hurry.

He's a man in a hurry.

If he can avoid whiffing on blocks (per Bedard, as I recall), this is a defensive backfield he can be really helpful against.

Not so simple. Tyms is active.

Pretty simple to me. They would rather have 4 WR and 7 DL tonight

Clearly Tyms as leaped Dobson on the depth chart.

The bolded was the part to which I was referring.

This is so frustrating as a fan to see WR's that appeared to do well last year, end the season with injuries, and start the next season either no longer part of the big picture, or getting cut.

Being on the outside looking in, especially on a team as secretive as the patriots you can only guess at whats going on and why a player such as dobson can get active, and why a player such as thompkins gets cut, but amendola remains on the active roster week in and week out, despite a lack of production.

I'm sure that was brought to his attention. I have no idea what's going on, but there's no doubt the hardest workers get preference here...unless they suck, of course.

It's obvious Dobson is doing something extremely wrong. BB can kiss Dobson's ass in the press all he wants, yet he benches him instead of an incredibly unproductive Anendola. Obviously Dobson ****ed up big time to be healthy yet benched time and time again.

People keep pointing to Dobson/Amendola, but I think that misses a point. Amendola is the only Edelman replacement the team has, which is probably why he's been active every game. Dobson is a completely different type of receiver, and his skill set is more along the lines of Tyms and LaFell.

+1... That is an excellent point.

Something is clearly wrong. But if it was THAT bad..he would have been off the team by now IMO.

I just have no idea what the issue is...sucks becasue he has the talent to be a great WR. But we are seeing tyms out there instead of him

Honestly, I have no doubt that if Dobson got some regular snaps, he'd get open and catch balls.

I really want to see him play coming off that very solid rookie season + bulking up in the off-season + being even more familiar with the offense

Honestly I think with lafell they are gonna let Dobson take the time needed to get up to speed and let his foot be in as good as shape so he doesn't hurt it.

Yeah, personally I don't buy that. Either he's healthy enough to be in the mix, or he's not. I don't see this "in between" that some here are speaking of. Dobson's seen reps this year when Tyms was still suspended, and Dobson has not been on the injury report.

They aren't keeping Aaron Dobson in a plastic bubble, just waiting to "break him out" in dramatic fashion for the whole world to see. As a matter of fact, one would assume that they'd be wanting him to get as much live game action as possible, since he's obviously been behind for awhile.

It seems to be nothing more than a case of Dobson being behind the other receiving options, as the other receiving options are giving the team the best chance at seeing success.

Well that's what I mean. I don't believe he is 100% healthy to play a full game, or see a much larger increase in snaps, and with jules, gronk, lafell, vereen and heck amendola, they feel fine.

I still think it is that he is not fully back from his foot surgery. People who refuse to believe that point to the fact that he isn't on the injury report, but Gronk is still only about 90% healthy Gronk and not on the injury report either (hasn't been for a few weeks). The difference is a 90% Gronk is still better than most TEs. A 90% Dobson as a speed outside receiver makes him not a great outside WR.

Unlike Gronk, Dobson needs to be closer to 100% to be productive. He relies on his foot speed and ability to make fast cuts and crisp routes. Gronk can make up what he is still lacking in speed and cutting ability with his size, strength, and catch radius.

Unfortunately, I agree with Chris Gasper and this is going to end up being a redshirt year for Dobson. He may never be fully back to 100% this year and he lost so much in the offseason due to the surgery that he was already behind his second year.

Why don't you see it? Is Gronk 100% healthy right now? I would say a big no. He isn't on the injury report. Does that mean Gronk is 100%, but just not as good as he used to be? Because by this logic, Gronk is definitely 100% and what we have now is the ceiling for what we will get for the rest of his career.

People put too much stock on the injury report. There is a difference between being injured and limited in practice and not fully recovered from a serious injury. If I remember correctly in 2009, Welker was never on the injury report and he clearly wasn't even close to 100% until late in the year.

Considering how Lafell has seized control of the WR2 spot, and how the WR4/WR5 sees barely any snaps in our offense, it looks bleak for Dobson. At this point, barring injuries, Dobson will enter 2015 training camp battling for a roster spot.

It's really starting to look like BB batted 0/3 with Dobson, KT, and Boyce.

I think a completely healthy Dobson with a full offseason may be fighting for a starting job over a roster spot.
