Division game. Anything can happen. Jets will do a lot of desperate things, onside kicks, fake punts etc. Not going to be easy for this oline tonite. Going to be close.

This is actually something I completely agree with. I still think the Pats will pull it out but it's going to be a rough one. They literally have nothing to lose at this point so it could be a rough game. Like you said possible on side kicks, fake punts, possible cheap shots?, etc. Hoping for a win regardless of score and for it to be a healthy win.

He might be right but his "reasonings" were terrible.

3 of his 4 'reasons' are outright fantasies.

Allen "should" be able to defend Gronk?
Amaro is Gronk?
GeNO! is getting better?

The author must have been having a fever dream.

The Wall Street Journal should stick to covering robber barons and leveraged buyouts.

Point 1 - the Jets kept it close with The Forehead and the Broncos. So what? The game was a home game for the Jets who lost the turnover battle, time of possession, gained 155 fewer yards, had 20 incompletions, and lost by two touchdowns! It wasn't close, you bone head!

Point 2 - Antonio Allen will cover Gronk. Good luck with that. Last year Gronk manhandled him for eight catches and 114 yards. Stop him for over a hundred yards again - please!

Point 3 - The Jets have Jace Amaro. Okay. Throw it to him. Too bad the writer could name a bunch of offensive weapons. Decker? That's two guys who will find the best secondary the Patriots have had since 2003 staring at them in the rain.

Point 4 - Geno is getting better. Better than what? He's dead last among 33 qualifying quarterbacks in passer rating and is a human Juggs Gun - for the defense! He's not better than anybody. How is that better?

Anything to get people talking.

Okay, I'll give Benz #1, but you need more than one positional mismatch to win a game.

#2 - So Benz thinks the Patriots game plan is to grind out a win against the 8th-best run defense in the NFL and will lose because Ridley is not there? Uh, no. The easy pickings for the Patriots is the Jets no-name secondary. I don't see the running game being a big deal for the Patriots unless they find a soft spot they can exploit. My guess is lots of play-action and upwards of 7 Patriots receivers making a contribution.

I do hope we get to see 5-10, 230 bowling ball Jonas Gray on the field tonite. As a matter of fact, he and Develin would make a nice pair of speed bumps for the Jets defensive line.

#3 Nah. The Patriots are who their 4-2 record says they are - just like the Jets' 1-5 record says a lot about who they are.

#4 "Win One For Rex"?!? Right, Benz. I'm picking up major signals from the Jets' players that they will run through a brick wall for Coach Toejam, that is, if they make it to the game from the movies.

#5 The weather. The Jets are big winners on the road on a windy night after the storm blows out to sea? Good for them. Maybe they should go play golf in Scotland.

He forgot at the end:

And finally, sorry to Misses Golden that this report was late. My big brother was on the computer last night. Maybe I can due some extra credit instead?

Preparation in such a short week is mostly mental, and we have that edge over the Jets big time.

Being the home team, we also have the benefit of one more day of rest/preparation.

Inclement weather will affect Geno much more than it will affect Brady.

Regarding the 'Jets kept it close against Denver' point - The Jets were in desperation mode for that game. If they won, they would have been 2-4 and could have used that win as a rallying point to salvage their season. Since they came up short last weekend, it's going to be difficult to recapture that same intensity tonight.

this is the jets superbowl.

the weather is really bad. we won't be able to pass the ball in heavy rain, just remember the cinci game last year. which means we'll have to run on a jets D that's 8th in the league defending the run.

Anybody else get the feeling the writer was typing with his fingers crossed?

I don't like the reports about Revis allegedly wanting to score a touchdown against his former team, I'll tell you that much.

Weather will be wet and a little chilly, but not bad. Just wet enough to interfere with your mental game.

As long as he's not trying it from the fullback position, I couldn't care less.

I don't know where you heard that from but I've been listening to Felger and Mazz all day and they have been falsely propagating this rumor. It's a bunch of BS in my opinion.

Sitting in Bar Louie right now. Weather isn't too bad.
