Brandon Browner not at practice Thursday Oct 9

We could've used Browner against TE's vs. Bills and Chiefs

Their TE's gained way too many yards on us

Those teams have good coaches who would simply take the mismatch elsewhere. If a LB wasn't covering the TE, they'd run it more effectively.

Based on what Browner said he is ready to go and expects to play on Thursday.

Isn't Decker pretty soft? Have Browner beat the crap out of him on the line then have McCourty over the top, put Amaro or Kerley on Revis island...then have some fun at the expense of Geno.

I really would love to see revis get a pick six against Geno...and to see all the Jets fans reactions online

I'd rather not have Revis covering TE's.

With the weight difference, it's easy for CBs to get injured covering TEs. I believe that's how Talib got injured last year.

Talib always gets hurt with his hip

Decker isn't anywhere close to 100% I feel like Kyle Arrington could do fine on him thursday even if need for some odd reason.

Amaro didn't block much at Texas Tech, so at this point in his career I think he might be more WR than TE. He has the skills to develop into an all-around TE, but I'd be surprised if he's there yet. Wouldn't be surprised if the Pats test the Jets' willingness to run behind Amaro by putting Browner on him on passing downs.

I do think that your guess is more realistic, though. Decker's hamstring isn't 100% yet, so all he really has going for him right now is his size. Browner can neutralize that. I don't want Revis anywhere near Amaro, though. Kerley is a much better matchup for him, since Kerley's game is all timing and agility and nobody's better than Revis at disrupting that. If that's the matchup, Revis will absolutely dominate him.

Kind of OT to the thread, but how good of a TE is Scott Chandler?

Though, he does seem like the kind of player that Browner might be asked to cover.

Have to say, if Chandler can make those kind of catches with any kind of regularity, he'd be great to have as a depth TE.

Many other posters and I really wanted him when he was a free agent months ago. He and Fred Jackson usually do that to US. Going into the game I wanted anyone but Chung on him because I vividly remember him roasting him years ago. The only people besides Browner capable of covering him imho are Collins and Tavon(not a typo). Can't wait until we play the Bills again to see how Chandler is handled.

Amaro will probably line up off the LoS quite a bit. I would stick Browner on him, Revis on Decker (no safety help needed unless you want to give him it), bring Chung into the box to assist against Ivory, and let Dennard/Arrington handle Kerley. Their offense will be dead in the water if that happens. Up front, just set the edge to keep Geno in the pocket and push the A and B gaps.

I'm excited to see Browner out there. Most offseasons a contract his size would be the biggest one we hand out to an outsider. Many here think he will be used as a matchup specific player. I think he'll be CB2 every week.

As for game planning for the Jets - Kontradiction nailed it. I think we hold the Jets to 10 or less and a shutout is absolutely in play.

We could realisitically hold them to 3 points as long as the defense can contain the run. Their offense has legitimately been that bad.

It will be very interesting to see his playing time, performance and physicality....

I wonder though how much Browner will help. Revis/Dennard/Arrington have all been solid to very good.

You aren't going to take Chung & McCourty off the field. Also you aren't going 6 DBs in most situations.

So the upgrade if there is one will be minor. Sadly this does likely not improve our biggest weak spot on D (Skinner currently) cause Browner though big is not about o play as a LB.

So what if Revis and Browner basically shut down the #1 and #2 outside WR and Dennard and Arrington do well against the #3 and #4?

I think that potential would be more than a minor upgrade.
