Amendola

At this point Amendola is Edelman insurance, and the way things are going they will most likely need him to really contribute at some point and he better be up to it. I do however love the size they have added to this receiving corps and feel it has already improved their ability to stretch the field in every way. For the first time in a long time they can go downfield both inside and out and they still have the slot routes they can work when they want with Edelman, Wright and Lafell. Losing Ridley really hurts but this offense an be really good if the OL continues to improve and these receivers do the same.
I absolutely agree, but I also want to add that the OL improvement and that of the receivers are two pretty decent sized IFs. We've definitely seen positive strides in recent weeks, which would suggest they're trending up. But who knows with the way players keep falling? Look at how losing Connolly immediately changed things yesterday. Connolly, especially, is concerning because the number of concussions on his resume has been on a steady incline in recent seasons. But overall, your point is spot on.

I can't believe so much talk is taking place for a WR who has all of 4 catches for 23 yards and 0 TD's this season.

It's taking place because of the specific receiver who has all of 4 catches for 23 yards and 0 TDs this season.

The only players on the team with a higher APY are Brady, Revis, Mayo, Wilfork, and Gronkowski. Amendola has 10 catches in his last 10 games dating back to last season, and has not had a catch in 5 of the 10 games. He is the worst UFA signing in Belichick tenure.

Yeah well when Brian Tyms plays 1 game, makes 1 catch, and now has more yards and touchdowns than the player dubbed as Welker's replacement it is worthy of this many posts. This entire situation has become laughable and now posters want to pretend Amendola does not exist or is not worthy of discussion to attempt to gaze past the huge failure that is Danny Amendola.

I suppose its similar to the infatuation that many in here had with the Chad Johnson era in NE. Not dissimilar production numbers either I would guess.

It's amazing to me that Brady gained trust in Lafell, Wright and Tyms more than he has trust in Amendola. You can't tell me Amendola hasn't been open on ONE play in the last few games, it's obvious Brady doesn't even look his way.

I was at the game on Sunday and watching DA he was not able to create any separation. He looked slow and dis-interested. It may be time to make him inactive since he doesn't play special teams

Chad Johnson was an aging player signed with the hope that we could get a year or maybe 2 of a rejuvenated career. Amendola was supposed to be a centerpiece in the offense for 4-5 years at least. His failure is huge, and if not for the emergence of Edelman we would be truly screwed.

A lot of people were complaining about Brandon LaFell after a couple of games, even his impressive showing against the Chiefs was overshadowed and forgotten about because of the big loss. Sometimes there are things going on that we don't know about. We do know that Amendola has shown real talent in the past so lets just see how things work out over the next couple of weeks. Personally I couldn't care less how he does between here and the postseason as long as he can bring it then when we really need him.

As for him being the worst FA signing of Belichick's career, well I don't think so. I seem to recall a certain Joey Galloway and thats just talking about wide receivers. There have been some real turkeys in other areas of the team.

Since Amendola misplayed the potential game winning touchdown at the end of week 15 against Miami last year he has 10 catches in 10 games.

Nah. Pretty much everyone agrees that Amendola is a flop. It's not that people want to pretend he doesn't exist; it's just that this horse has been beaten, drawn, quartered, beheaded, boiled, tarred and feathered, and dropped out the back of an airplane. There's just no "there" there at this point.

Joey Galloway? He was for only 1 year, at a little over a million dollars.

My point is both were inconsequential performers for the Pats yet have been talked about on here like they were all pros.

The problem is that Amendola is still on the field in front of players like Dobson, Wright, and even Tyms who have shown the ability to do far more with their opportunity than Amendola. I suspect he has the full first half of the season to get his **** together, so that leaves him 2 more games, after that I would say he will be lucky to be active on game day if things do not change. We cannot continue to give him snaps it is actually depressing to watch as a fan.

Amendola like Brandon Lloyd, Greg Salas, Spencer Larsen, Daniel Fells, and Michael Hoomanawanui are products of Josh McDaniels, they came in on his recommendation having played for him the years prior either in St. Louis or Denver. These failures land on McDaniels, and also on Belichick for listening to McDaniels. Amendola was a player tossed around in the same discussion as Greg Salas in 2012 a player we may have given up a fifth or sixth round pick in a trade, a year later we are paying him nearly $6M per season. That never should have happen, the expectations that came along with that are not even in the realm of feasible for Amendola, he is not that quality of player and never has been, he had a handful of big games over 4 years in St. Louis, that is all.

How long do things need to play out? I feel like they played out, started over and played out again.

Galloway signed a 1 year contract for under $1M, it is not even close to comparable, Amendola is the worst signing of Belichick tenure. Go look at the contracts given and the production received, you will see that Amendola is the worst without question.

Oh come on, you're loving this. There are more " I told you so's" from you here in this thread, and now you're feigning depression?
Simply go see a physical therapist to alleviate the pain you've got in your elbow from that excessive patting yourself on the back.........you'll feel even better after Thursday.

I agree with you Jack, but Brady6 nails it here. It would be fine if Amendola was inactive, but:

Amendola 24 snaps
Dobson 11 snaps
Tyms 8 snaps

This isn't right. Tyms is the exact opposite of a slot WR and I'd still prefer him with Amendola's snaps in that role. His presence on the field opens up the passing lanes. He could just run a vertical every play as a decoy and be more useful than Amendola.

Until Amendola reached WR5 snaps, this zombie horse still needs to get beat. :D
