Report: Patriots fear Stevan Ridley tore ACL (update: out for season with torn ACL, MCL)

The Pats will bring Jonas Gray up off the practice squad. The kid looked good in the preseason and ran hard.
Or they will try and make it through the Jets game using Bolden. After that they have 10 days to figure out how they will replace Ridley reps.

I like Ridley but this could benefit us in the long run. Ridley is consistent and great in goal line situations, but every other back we have has a greater chance of ripping off a long run than he does. James White better take this opportunity and literally run with it.

Maybe BB will leave Gray on the PS and roll with what he has on Thursday night. Develin could be used a bit more to try and open things up for Bolden. Who knows. I doubt Belichick is going to sign someone and start them in four days, unless Green-Ellis comes back.

This is a huge blow if he can't be with us for a while.

- Vareen is not an every down RB nor is he going to get you tough yardage.
- Bolden hasn't done much in his live action, can we really trust him? Probably not
- James White is an unknown

I don't care about our TE's, if we don't have that guy who can pick up tough yards and control the clock we won't win anything when it matters. Can we survive the regular season and make playoffs? Yeah probably, but come January we're going to need that Ridley type of back to move the chains and control the game. Defense and a run game wins you championships.

Poor guy. Always a supporter of Ridley even when people were calling for his head after the fumble versus Denver. It totally sucks to see this happen to him, especially in his contract year.

Sucks. He was having a good year. Next man up!

Feel sorry for the kid, he has had a rough couple of seasons, I wish him the best recovery possible.

This is why you don't spend 1st round draft picks on running backs. The reality is that they have a short shelf-life. Sucks for Ridley.

He finally gets his fumbling issues under control and this happens. So sad. Hopefully he makes a full recovery.

I'm sad for the kid. He was good in the locker room and good on the field. As someone has said, he was having a good year thus far. He hadn't put the ball on the ground one time. I hope he plays in NE again, but I just don't know if I believe it'll happen. He too talented to not get paid, even after the injury. He's young and ACL/MCL surgery is so advanced that someone will take a chance and their one-year prove it deal may be more than whatever the price is that NE sets, which I don't think will be very high.

I really liked him as a player and will miss his running this year. I especially hope he comes back strong next year and someone signs him.

this sucks...

get well ridley. maybe he returns on a one year prove it contract...

hope he comes back on a one year deal but I feel like he ll go elsewhere. seems like a real nice kid based on his fb page.

Im pretty sure he'll come back next year. heal well boy.

I'm really not surprised after seeing his leg/knee flab around as he flipped around after the contact to his knee.

This year was shaping up to be his best year here. Someone find Adrian Peterson's doctor and let him work his magic on Ridley.
